These little dtx minnows really get the job done.. these smaller sizes ones are one of my favorites for behind the kayak. These sinking models really get down even at slower (kayak) trolling speeds. I've also had amazing success with these in the great lakes trolling for big freshwater predators. Nomad used to make a few smaller sizes that were intended for freshwater I believe, but they didn't perform as well as the sinking 110 on my last few trips up to Ontario .. well made lure that has a solid hookset and holds up well to hard fighting species

The nuclear coral trout pattern 200mm DTX Minnow is a deadly lure for wahoo and large king macks. Trolls straight and deep. Hooks and holds. Great lure! I am not a tourist fisherman... I am a serious long range fisherman from So Cal where we have our own style and pride. Took this lure to Fiji and found a local crew that fishes stand up and seriously. We had a great time and this lure took fish very well!

I was looking at Magbay wahoo trolling jigs which from what I can tell are truly top of the line. I got to talking to a fellow fisherman while fishing the faralon islands on a daytrip out of Berkeley Ca. We must have spent 2 hours discussing all aspects of saltwater fishing. (Its a 3 hr trip to the islands). Of ALL the lures we spoke of, he explained his experience with this 1 as by far the most productive for wahoo on his last long range trip out of San Diego (multiday). This was the lure that the wahoo just smashed in this particular color pattern. If you can get the 220mm one even better. His advice - buy a few as they just attack them so hard.

I’ve bought and used several of these. I’d be really really surprised if the 200 dives 3-5’ and the 220 dives maybe 10’ max. Most of the ones I’ve purchased won’t track at speeds greater than 8mph (6.9knots). I tried rigging them the way nomad suggested as well as a few other ways. Lastly they do get bit and bit a lot but the hookup ratio is 20% at best.Stick to the xrap, planers w/ ballyhoo or high speed lures.
I bought two of these lures and used them in Baja Mexico. They catch yellow tail and out-fished the other brand. However, after catching one fish one lure would not troll straight. I wrote Nomad asking for their advice but have not heard back from them. Since the lures are self-tuning I suspect there may be not fix for the problem. The second lure trolled perfectly and caught 4 large yellow tail without any problems.
Put a planer down with a cheap seawitch and ballyhoo, and this combo outperformed the purple dtx minnow 10-1. The positives were I didn't have to reel it in at all because it didn't catch fish. The negatives are it didn't catch fish. No lie, 8 trolling hours through two trips and I caught 1 huge cuda on it. The seawitch caught kings, cudas, a hoo, and a monster sailfish that I'm having a replica made of...66 LJFL, 89" total length, released quickly and unharmed. Also, the proven effective bonitas on the high speed put meat in the boat a lot better than this thing.
In August 2019 I had the pleasure of staying at Van Wormer's Playa del Sol for a fishing contest with Fishers of Men West Coast. The third and last day of the tournament our team hooked six Wahoo trolling Nomad Design DTX lures. Unfortunately, three of the six fish made off with our lures. You are right, we did not use wire leaders, but we were getting bit. I bought more to replace those lost and to try other colors in October. This lure in this color has proven itself. By the way, we did win money for our efforts on the last day. Enjoy, and keep a tight line.
I was so happy to be able to find these at Cabelas. I have fished around the US and Europe and have used a lot of types of bait. On a fishing trip to Florida i was introduced to this and was amazed at how good it swam and performed all day against an array of fish. I will say if you don't tie it right it doesn't work right (my mistake first out). I eventually crimped 150lbs mono and it ran hard the second day of the trip. I'm really excited to try it against Coho, Kings, and maybe cliff troll for Lingcod here in the PNW. I assume I will out fish with this bad boy once I work out the performance in the Sound. I recommend you buy 1, tie it right and it will sell itself.
I find it interesting that, just like the photos on your website, the item I ordered that you have pictured here shows treble hooks, just like the other Nomad DTX's I have bought in the past. Mine arrived with single hooks, and your customer service told me that this is how Nomad does it. Why does the photo show a different set of hooks? I had to change out the hooks, and I'm not sure I even have the correct hook size. This is disturbing to say the least.
Trolling or casting this lure from Nomad has caught more fish than anything else in my kit. They come in many sizes and colors. One of the best I have found. I fish out of Chatham MA for Stripers and blue fin tuna. Love all Nomad lures.
