An excellent keyboard for a good price

The sound quality of the Electro is fantastic. Was easy to set up and just as easy to attach and use a computer. Does take some time to properly understand the controls. Having the controls accessible rather than embedded in menus has been a great change from previous keyboards. The semi-weighted keys have a perfect feel having previously used keyboards with unweighted keys and I don’t have to stress out my hands on a fully weighted version. The size is compact and perfect for the limited space I have despite it being a 76 key model. Sorry it doesn’t have a drone function for worship but to manage cost I plan to use Mainstage or Sunday Sounds to handle any shortcomings. This keyboard is perfect for pushing forward with my practice and also for playing in public ... MoreThe sound quality of the Electro is fantastic. I loved this keyboard until I upgraded my laptop, and now the drivers won't load unless I disable hardware memory protection (which helps prevent malware attacks.)Clavia/Nord has known about this for over 2 years, but has done nothing about it.WAKE UP CLAVIA! Act like your customers matter. At least provide some official communication about this. Instead we have to read about it in the unofficial Nord users' forum.

I already own a Nord stage 3 - 88 key board and gig with it in a regular basis, some know how good the sounds and the tech are on these Nord Boards. The Electro 6 is everything I expected it would be, with not quite all the bells and whistles of the Stage 3 but with all the sounds and almost half the weight. I can carry it on my back in the carry case and I shallUse it to replace my Roland FP2 as my goto busking board. I have used the 12 months interest free purchase option too which is very quick and easy to apply for and is really helping me with my cash flow. I would highlyRecommend the Nord Electro 6 hp and also PMT are so easy to deal with and have great pricing. A topStory for a go-to board purchase.

Purchased as a replacement for my Yamaha CP40 which is a relatively heavy gigging piano as opposed to Electro 6. I really like the action on this keyboard, key edges are also well finished off so slides are made easy. I'm rubbish at tech but the Nord tutorials make light work of how to program in sounds/set lists. Now have 6 set lists banked in. It's so neat it's been great for smaller gig venues. Love how you can save off sound/eq set up and transposed setting for each stored patch. Very handy when you play with 1 band who are playing a semitone down.I haven't given full marks for sound as sometimes certain sounds aren't cutting through - but this could be down to me needing to re-tweak sound choice.I've only had this keyboard for 2 months so hard to score on ... MorePurchased as a replacement for my Yamaha CP40 which is a relatively heavy gigging piano as opposed to Electro 6. It certainly shouldn't take any knocks as it's light enough to carry over a shoulder and can fit in the back seats.

This is my third Nord keyboard. The Lead 4 came first, then the amazing Wave 2, and now the Electro 6D 61 Note.I’ll get the one bad point out the way first. The amount of memory Nord provides with their keyboards is ridiculous. They come full with samples and from day one, you have to make choices on which ones to delete to try any of the ones from the Nord website, or load your own. The excuse of having great compression on the samples doesn’t cut it. We still struggle. Every Nord user has the same complaint. That said, Nord keyboards are just amazing instruments! On the Electro 6D, you have an organ section, piano section, and a sample synth section. All three sections sound amazing. The Keybed is really nice, although it did take some getting used to from the Wave 2 as it has a deadspot similar to a real piano. Play very soft and you will get no sound. The pianos Nord provide (free) are stunning, and the organ section sounds big, especially the B3/Leslie combo! The synth section can be a little misleading as there’s no synthesising to be done really. It’s a one sound rompler. The sampled sounds available are amazing! Especially the Project Sam strings. But there is Analog, FM modelling here, nor is there a pitch stick or a mod wheel. The Electro 6D is a stage piano/ organ / sample player. It is limited in what it does, but it does what it should really well.

Review of Nord Electro 6D 61 Stage Piano
16 August 2024

I only started learning to play last year and the Nord replaces a Casio. It is the user interface which is so important for me; being able to adjust top level buttons and knobs rather than getting a manual out and trying to remember five levels down makes for a better playing experience. Also, the higher frequency sound is easily adjusted... age means my hearing is not as good as it once was.

Review of Nord Electro 6D 73 Stage Piano

A great package in such a lightweight form – exactly what I needed for gigs / rehearsals in town when parking’s a nightmare. Fantastic sound library for Pianos, Organs, E Pianos etc on the Nord website. Amazing keybed for Organ / Clav players especially, but also responsive for any Rhodes / Wurly patches too. The action’s not really ideal for Piano, but can easily link a weighted keyboard via MIDI to play the incredible samples. Compared to the 6HP, I think I’d prefer playing Piano on this, than Organ on a semi-weighted if I only had one.

Worth every penny!

As a working musician for the past twenty years I have used a variety of rigs. Starting off with a a Hammond B3, Leslie 142, and a Yamaha S80. When it became impractical to use the B3 regularly I moved to a variety of VST plug-ins and a controller for my organ work, along with the S80. While I love the Yamaha for piano work, it's 60 plus pounds with case has become difficult to deal with now that I'm in my mid 60s. A couple of years back i tried a competitors less expensive "all in one" product for smaller gigs. However, the sound and overall product quality was disappointing. The Nord 6D 73 key does everything I need and more! The semi weighted keyboard is a great balance between the piano and organ feel. The quality of the B3 modeling is truly amazing and the physical drawbars and waterfall keys feel comfortable and familiar from years of playing the Hammond. The pianos and EP's are quality patches and having access to the Nord sound libraries give it virtually endless possibilities. Working every week, often multiple times, the Nord has become a practical one stop rig without compromising the quality of the sound. It's allowed me to go from a 500lb rig years ago, to 20 something pounds. There's a reason this little red beast has become a standard touring tool for keyboard players in the past decade, and it's worth every penny! Only wish I had picked it up sooner.

powerful keyboard made with skill & quality materials

I have been saving gig money for this keyboard for quite some time & it was worth the wait. No keyboard does EVERY thing & the electro 6D lacks a few functions that I have found useful with other keyboards I have had: it does not have pitch bend/modulation or arpeggiators/sequencers. However, my purchase of the 6D was based upon its vast, excellent sound library, effects section, split keyboard & friendly programmability. the Nord menus are of a different sensibility from what I have been used to, but I was quickly able to organize sounds with split keyboard assignments so that I could quickly play through our show which requires a variety of vintage keyboard sounds. I have been a live Hammond organ player for 38 years & I will now leave my tone wheel organ at home. the organ sounds are frighteningly good & the 6D has manual drawbars for real time performance. the vibrato, percussion, leslie functions are astounding. Rhodes, Wurlitzer, vox, mellotron/chamberlin, elka strings, orchestral instruments, analog synths (roland, prophet, oberheim), FM synths (DX7), ethnic world instruments, mallet percussion, amazing acoustic pianos. this library allows me to assign sounds for an evening of classic rock, soul music, jazz, pop, funk & just about any progressive rock piece your band has the audacity to play live. Nord is a supportive company that notifies you of updates to software & their world wide sound library. If you want some crunch on your Rhodes or if you want to put it through a slow swirling leslie, or put a piano through a fast spinning leslie, go at it! if you want to put a slow phase shift on an elka string machine for a 70's Styx, Gary Wright or Kansas song, have it your way. if you want clavinet and horns on a split keyboard for funky goodness, nothing's holding you back. with some creative thought & clean technique, you can set the tempo of the delay to simulate an arpeggiator from any 80's synth based pop. an insightful programmer can do a ton with a Nord!

just noodle around at home, also have an Allen Organ and an old Technics 1000. The instrument is fine but a little confusing at times. The megabye storage is much too low and really needs about 10 preset buttons to really be playable. Many of the 3rd party patches are almost to big to download on the instrument. Maybe in time I will have it all figured out. The staff at Sam Ash are very helpful. Thanks guys and wish you were closer
