An excellent, high-quality laptop.

I use this machine for several hours every day. The screen is big enough to be productive, whether I'm running Xcode or editing photos. With thin bezels, it's similar in size to my old 15" but with more screen space. While it's not as portable as the 14", it still fits in my backpack if I need to take it out with me.The speakers are amazing for a laptop, and the screen is bright and clear. Battery life is excellent, and it's frequently used without the charger connected. It rarely runs warm, and macOS integrates nicely with my iPhone. The only thing I miss from my old Intel MacBook Pro is the ability to run VirtualBox for one or two Windows applications, but I've found substitutes for most of those, and the advantages of Apple Silicon outweigh the downsides.

I had 512MB on the MacBook Air Model, which I thought I could get away with -just. But it really was a lesson to me.This SSD issue also reminds me of a major benefit to the MacBook Pros that have an SD Card slot -You can use this SD card slot to insert a BaseQi Ninja Drive which is the one option for expanding on board 'drive' storage. The Ninja Drive is an aluminium adapter that sits flush in the SD Card Slot while holding a hidden hi performance MicroSD card of your choice. Obviously not as good as the SSD onboard, but good enough as a Data storage drive with 'reasonable' speed.Anyhow, this MacBook Pro Arrived looking 'As New' and initially showed Battery health at 100% but within a few days, that settled to 97% and has been like that since -for the past 3 weeks.Note: Compared to the Equivalent M1 MacBook Air, The batter can drain almost twice as fast because of the M1 Pro processor only having 2 efficiency cores compared to 4 on the M1. However, that's something I am ok with as I was maxing out the M1 processor due to excessive plugins on a personal music project. I do miss the M1 MacBook Air this has replaced (also obtained from CeX) as even that was a super fast laptop and very light and highly recommended for most processor intensive tasks. With the SD Card Slot giving a 'pseudo upgrade' option on these MacBooks, it is worth noting that there is an early M1 model of the MacBook Pro which did not come with an SD Card slot, meaning that you can't add a Ninja Drive to that model. (None of the MacBook Air models with the new apple silicon come with SD card slots.)Hopefully, this gives some insight and help in making a decision with MacBook Air and MacBook Pro's at CeX. Note:

Fortunately after doing some research, I realized an M1 Pro powered MBP would do everything I need. Even better that I found one for under $1K at Best Buy! Buying refurbed always makes me a little nervous but the unit I got is in AMAZING condition! The body is in fantastic like-new shape, the screen is clean and scratch free, keyboard looks like it hasn’t even been used, and the system is working flawlessly. I got through setup and all of my old apps plus some new ones installed in about 30 minutes. Also, mine came with an original Apple charger. I am extremely impressed and will absolutely consider buying BB Geeksquad refurbs for my next tech purchase.

Like some, I did have some worries buying a refurbished MacBook Pro since I didn’t know what the actual product looked like until I saw it physically. Shipment came in within 4 days, so I’m happy about that. It was in honestly a sketchy packaging… meaning, basic box with tape, laptop in small bubble wrap casing, and cords. No paperwork. No small additional boxes to carry the charger at all inside the box. I’m not complaining, though. The charger is a USB-C to USB-C charger, like the older MacBooks. It comes with a small 30W block. Upon unboxing, though very, very basic, the MacBook was literally in MINT condition. No scratches, no dents, no signs of use. The keyboard itself—you’d think would have some wear, at least—was PERFECT. Typing on it was satisfying. If you got me this MacBook in an actual Apple packaging box, I wouldn’t even know it was refurbished or used. Battery condition is literally near perfect. Battery life is amazing. This MacBook is literally like new, and it blew my expectations away. If you feel it’s risky to buy this from Best Buy, I’d say there’s minimal risk since you are guaranteed a return within 14 days… so go ahead and take a risk. You’re not really losing anything. All my suspicions went away and I’m satisfied with my purchase.

I wasn't sure which M series Mac option to get. I was coming from a 2013 13" Macbook pro with an Intel i5 processor. I've bought Open Box before from Best Buy but with refurbished I was a bit hesitant. At the price of $1232 being a steal, I bit since I could always return it if it wasn't in good enough condition. Considering this is a 2021 laptop, the condition I received it in was beyond expectations. I only knew the laptop was used because the power brick/charger was heavily scratched up and the keyboard dings (see laptop photos). But the laptop was new to my eyes from the outside as well as the display. I would easily buy Geek Squad Refurbished again considering the way it was packaged and cleaned. Plus I saved a ton of money considering this equivalent M3 Pro model goes for $1999 which was way more than I would want to spend or need.

I’m sad I didn’t do this sooner. The transition to Apple silicone has boosted my productivity and the battery life (I get about 5-6 hours of continuous use out of it editing photos) has been a life saver when it comes to workflow. Plus I’m already a toe in with using an iPhone and the connectivity perks are pretty fun (instantly recognizing and connecting to hotspot, widgets, iMessage) and I find myself really appreciating it more than I thought I would.

[Rewarded Review] Great MacBook Pro, but not the one that was listed
1 April 2024

It's a mixed bag for this purchase. I jumped on this purchase for the unbelievable deal it was. A 14" MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM, 10 core CPU, and 1TB SSD! When it arrived, it was in perfect condition. No scratches or other signs of use. The charger was not the 67 Watt charger that came with the 14" but a 61 Watt charger (the kind that comes with the 13" MBP). No big deal. But when I started and set up the MacBook, it was clear it was not the 1TB MKGQ3LL/A of the description or box, but a 512GB 8 core MKGP3LL/A. I was disappointed, because I had a use in mind for the larger SSD. When I called customer service, they said they couldn't give a price adjustment nor replace it as there were none available. But I am still disappointed that it was not the described device I wanted to purchase. So full stars for the quality of the device, and 2 deducted for the error in listing and inability to give any sort of adjustment for the error.

20 April 2024

I’ll be honest and sound like every other review here, i was skpetical to get the refurbished macbook at first but i took the chance and bit the bullet and i couldn’t be more happy. Paid for 2 day shipping and came on time. And when i opened it… wow! It is seriously gorgeous and for the price it felt like a great deal. It came with only 1 visible marking or scratch if you could call it that, but other than that it is physically almost perfect! It runs so fun and is definitely a huge upgrade from my 2012 macbook pro. Extremely satisfied. Another thing is that it did NOT come with an apple charger but for me i don’t really care as long as the charger works (which the one they provide does). So yes i would recommend this purchase to the next person who wants to purchase !

[Rewarded Review] Light cosmetic damage, but great functionality
27 December 2023

My unit came in a protective bubble sleeve with an OEM charging cable and power adapter. Upon opening the box, I noticed some light cosmetic damage to three of the four corners of the MacBook. The keyboard was also clearly used a lot, but was still fully functional. Setting it up was a breeze, just like any other Apple product. Once I got it entirely set up, I noticed that the unit still had AppleCare+ left over from the original owner, so I decided to file an AppleCare+ claim at my local Geek Squad Precinct. I was charged $100 (and applicable taxes) and they sent my unit to Geek Squad City, where they replaced the top case. The only remaining damage on the unit now is a small scratch on the outside of the screen. So, all in for around $1200, it is a great machine. ... MoreMy unit came in a protective bubble sleeve with an OEM charging cable and power adapter. The M1 Pro MacBook Pro is so powerful, even with the M3 MacBook line already released and selling strong. Please use caution when purchasing these Geek Squad Refurbished MacBooks, as they might not be completely cosmetically flawless, but they will still function perfectly fine. The regular price of $1000 is an absolute bargain for this 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro.
