Carbs are rather high

The taste and texture is fine, and actually tastes amazing when mixed with matcha powder I've discovered. However, the carb amount is rather high compared to other vegan protein powders (6g vs 2g). As a body builder it's a bit of a shame; it would be nice to be able to drink my protein worry-free of carbs but that's not the case with this powder. When you're limited to 40g of carbs a day but need to consume 190g of protein, a shake with 25g of protein and 6g of carbs per serving is not ideal. That being said- it's yummy, high quality, good texture, and is much better for me than whey!

Excellent value, not so tastewise

I dislike its taste, but it's not terrible, especially when mixed with other stuff. It's taste is also neutral enough to be blocked out by other ingredients you might want to mix it with. This is one of the cheapest vegan proteins in tes of price to weight ratio. The size of the packaging is huge though, which makes it hard to reach for the powder at the bottom when you're close to finishing the product. As for its effectiveness, I can vouch that I've improved my performance over time, I've tracked the number of pushups o could do in a go at a single time, which was a regular component of my workouts. I would say the quality is okay, and dissolves okay though not completely smooth. There should be no issues if a blender was used though. I use this protein powder as a base for my protein shakes. It has nothing else added, so you can make it your own! I am not a fan of the taste plain so I like to make it with nut milk and add cacao powder, peanut butter powder, collagen, cinnamon, banana, and a date for some sweetness. I don't like most vegan protein powders because they add sweeteners I don't care for, prebiotics (they upset my stomach) or a list of veggies that I'd rather eat whole, not blended. My husband uses this mix as well and makes his own combo too with cocoa powder, peanut butter powder, banana, pea protein "milk", nutmeg, cinnamon, creatine, and l-glutamine recovery for his post workout shakes.

First Time Pea Protein
23 August 2022

I normally order Whey Protein and have done so over the past six years. This time I opted for a change since my regular brand of Whey was discontinued.I add one level scoop toy shaker bottle and a foam head is being created. This is a new occurrence for me. Second, it tastes like...well, a bad unsalted saltine cracker. I've added stevia to it and it's nothing to write home about. I then split my water with low fat A2 added milk and it tastes a lot better. I haven't noticed any changes toy body by switching to pea protein and will continue drinking it as well.

Great quality, flavor can be a bit difficult to manage
5 March 2022

Good overall product, but the flavor is a bit rough. Luckily it can be blended into a bunch of things and you can mask most of the flavor.I put about half a scoop into 6 ounces of unsweetened almond milk and shake well. Pour into my cereal, add a little more almond milk, and I instantly have more protein in my cereal. The odd flavor of the pea protein is still there, but masked decently by the flavor of the cereal. Note that unsweetened almond milk, even vanilla flavor, is not enough to mask the pea protein taste. It dissolves best when shaken well and vigorously. Great in a smoothie, a blender blends it just fine. With enough fruit, you barely taste it. To help avoid clumps, add it to the liquid, don't add the liquid to it.The value of this product is ... MoreGood overall product, but the flavor is a bit rough. To help avoid clumps, add it to the liquid, don't add the liquid to it.The value of this product is wonderful. And the fact that it doesn't have sweeteners, stevia, etc. is exactly what I want. You might have to play around with ratios for the optimal flavor.Texture is slightly grainy, but nothing offensive. In my cereal, it's fine. In a smoothie, it's barely noticeable (smoothie had no ice, just almond milk, this protein powder, and frozen fruit). It will thicken whatever liquid you add it to, but you should expect such a result.Overall I would buy it again. I can't consume dairy-based proteins, so this is the next best thing. It's never caused me gas or other issues (based on serving size or less) and I even have IBS. Pea protein is actually highly digestible! Aside from not being able to easily mask the flavor, it's a great product.

Plain taste
31 July 2022

Tastes very plain and not pleasant enough to drink on its own. Put it into another smoothie recipe or other blend for the best results. It is neutral tasting enough to not affect the taste of your other recipes. The packaging is huge. Thankfully, the mouth of the container is wide as well, so scooping up powder at the bottom isn't too difficult too. I have not workout too much recently to see its effects, but I have not seen a decrease in performance. Generally, I think the quality is okay, but the powder really doesn't taste good, so use a blender to make sure it has a smooth composition.

Taste like a drink you would make out of peas, just like how almond or soymilk taste like what they're made from!
24 January 2022

Good protein powder for those who like their powders to be plant-based, unflavored, and mixed in water or plain milk only.I advise not using this protein for smoothies because it will turn out bitter-tasting when mixed with greens and fruits. I've tried it with avocadoes, kale, flax seeds, honey etc. but it just won't taste great. I've tried making waffles with it, and it's also no good. The taste of the waffle was very bland, almost like a weird veggie-egg white flavor. When mixed with just plain water or milk, the flavor is actually very light and not bitter at all; it reminds me of *authentic soymilk* but leaning pea flavored. It is so much easier to drink this way than combine it with a smoothie. I recommend using more water than stated on the label because the solubility of the powder is quite limiting.Overall, it's my choice of protein powder because it offers a great quantity for the price. The jar is arguably unflavored, (as it is not lab synthesized artificial or natural flavored), has no additives of sugar substitutes like sucralose and stevia extract, and has all the basic nutrition needs out of a protein powder. I would point out that the iron content is a little high in this powder so make sure not to drink over 2 scoops of powder.Sidenote: *Authentic Soymilk*: the ones that actually taste like legit soymilk made straight from soybeans and not the industrially treated American soymilk that was made to taste like a non-dairy substitute of milk)

The Now Pea Protein Powder needs improvement
14 December 2021

The taste of the Now Pea Protein Powder was horrible. I had to choke it down. Adding stevia and dark chocolate cocoa powder did not help. Also, twelve plus ounces of water was needed to dissolve it and it swelled once it was dissolved and took up nearly twice as much space in a glass as other protein powders having the same grams of protein per serving. Alani Nu Pea Protein Powder tasted much better and was easier to drink. Also, if you leave it sit in a glass, the Now Pea Protein Powder will separate and become a mess when you try to mix it up. I wound up using around half of the Now Pea Protein Powder in the container and I threw the rest out because I could not stand it anymore.By contrast, the best tasting product I ever had from GNC was the GNC brand Lean ... MoreThe taste of the Now Pea Protein Powder was horrible. pretty much instant mashed potatoes, right?

Who are these people who like this pea protein powder? I've tried this in a watery shake with and without added flavors, in yogurt, in anything to try to make it palatable. This tastes like instant mashed potatoes you sometimes get when you go to a free mass dinner/breakfast where they hand out fake mashed potatoes that you know were just reconstituted powder from a packet sitting on some dusty shelf.Very ashy and powdery and dry. Definitely not smooth. I can't judge the quality comparing to other vegan protein powders because this is my first rodeo and I am not coming back.It transforms anything into a pile of flour.
