Numatic Henry Commercial Vacuum Cleaner - Red

Bought as an emergency gift. Did quite a bit of research on the spec but I forgot to take into account that this type of hoover would be unsuitable for my parents who are in their seventies. Due to the amount of bending down, they will only use an upright hoover. Also the upright model has the weight that counteracts the suction, whereas the cylinder types have little weight on the hose and nozzle making it very hard to push for people who lack mobility. I was unaware that they had very briefly used one many years ago and it had quickly caused back problems.

I love my little Henry. I can always rely on him to do a great job, especially if it’s a job that requires superior suction power. This vacuum cleaner has by far, the best suction I’ve ever encountered in a vacuum cleaner. He’s never let me down, he’s never got clogged, you can even use him on brick dust, unlike the Dyson - I killed one doing that! He’s fab for vacuuming the car. He comes with a floor cleaning head, a dust brush and a crevice tool, for edges and skirting boards etc and takes large disposable HEPA bags - that aren’t too expensive and easy to source and provide asthma and allergy protection. I absolutely adore this little red goofy idiot lol. He works his little bum off and makes sure he gets rid of all the pet hair and debris on my floors and upholstery! He doesn't like corners very much, but Ill let him off with that because he's cute! Just give him a little tug, a "Come along Henry" and he'll hop his way round. I am currently on my 3rd Henry. When he decides his days are up, we will 100% buy another one. They are fantastic and their price point is Great! Top job Henry!!!

LOVE Henry/Harry!!! Friendly little chap with a FEROCIOUS appetite. He's the vacuum we should have purchased YEARS ago, instead of all those bagless, horrifyingly expensive uprights, promising to be all we needed to keep our home clean and quickly proving they just weren't up to the job. One of the most amazing points about Harry is that he doesn't blow "wet dog" odours back out as he vacuums. Now the carpets not only look spotless again but the rooms smell fresh thanks to his charcoal filter. Pros: Hetty where have you been all my life! I’ve had really expensive hoovers and they always break in the end, people really recommend Henry and his pals and our cleaner at work has had a Henry for 13 years and it’s still going strong so I thought why not I’ll give it a try. So glad I did it’s amazing in the house, on hard floors, on the carpets, in the car, pet beds just absolutely fantastic. And it’s cute and pink! Cons: For me personally I have no back issues really and I’m still quite young so I have no problems, but it would be a little bulky for a person who is maybe a little weaker or has mobility issues.

Better than a Dyson

This is a straight forward vacuum cleaner with great suction and a robust build. I had a Dyson previous to buying this and I sound I was spending more time clearing/fixing it than I was picking up dirt. This picks up anything, including large bits and it’s almost a weight off my shoulders being able to clean the house properly. If it breaks which is unlikely, I would buy another one to replace it. Not any other brand.

Pros: Amazing suction!! Wow. Lovely design, comes with two bags included which are very big so should last. The lead can be plugged into one socket and I can hoover both down and upstairs with it. All round amazing purchase. So glad I did. Cons: Not really a problem but the hoover stick is big when packing it away, and the hoover pipe is also big. Perfect for hoovering. Not so great if you are having it stored in the dining room as it's visible and not compact but this is only me trying to find an improvement point

Pros: Nice and light and portable. Does not tip over like the standard Henry. Adequate on carpets with no pile using brush facility. Cons: Suction is appalling. No use if you have to Hoover a lot of animal hair, just blows hair about and redeposits it elsewhere. Battery life poor, one full battery is not sufficient for the downstairs of a small two up two down. Takes about 3 hours to charge, which is a long time considering the battery life. Metal tubing comes apart mid vacuum, which is annoying. Regret buying.

Pros: Powerful suction, technically simple and easy to repair. Robust construction. Cons: The new cleaner head is not as good as the previous version on carpets. It tends to drag but I can live with that small niggle. Having the attachements on FIXED upright stems about 12inches high at the rear of the dust receptacle would help avoid bending to change appliance head.

Pros: Tube too long for me as I am short, but you can remove one piece of the metal tube to reduce length. British made. Previously had two small cheap (<£70) hepa 'Hoover' cylinder vacuums which funnily enough failed two months after warranty each time! Wanted new hoover to last much longer to be kinder to landfill (eco reasons) and it seems robust enough to last longer than 2-3 years, time will tell.There must be a reason why cleaners and builders routinely choose this brand!Great suction including large bits of kiddie-crumbs. Very long lead mitigates extra weight on stairs and less time changing plug sockets. Cons: Heavier than last vacuum (it'd be hard not to be, to be fair, as last ones were light). A bit cumbersome on stairs but long lead helps with that.
