I am really enjoying my experience with the Air96 v2. The design and aesthetics are first rate and the keyboard looks fantastic right out of the box. However, if you want to customize further there are obviously options to not only customize the hardware, but the key mappings (with VIA/QMK).The wireless Bluetooth connection has worked flawlessly for me. This sometimes causes me to hit the incorrect key unless I glance down. I am willing to live with this compromise however due to the small footprint of this 96% keyboard. I really need a keyboard with a numpad that is portable enough to travel with.

First, let me start by saying I am absolutely amazed and blown out of the water by the 96 layout on a low profile keyboard.Now, for the issues I have noticed so far1. COATING - the white coating does not stay on that well, like at all. The keyboard comes with a switch/keycap puller and if you change out the switches, more than once or twice, you will notice grey marks on the white coating from the switch puller. THE FEET - yes, they have been improved and work really really well for no feet in position 1 and fully extended position 3. The issue I have is mainly with position 2 the middle position - The small feet immediately fall and close if you move the keyboard around in that position. And with 2 keyboards I can say for certain its not just a fluke. My fix for this was to pull the feet off, and take them apart and then take 4 pieces of tape and attach it to each of the feet and then bend downwards on the foot closing part to increase the resistance and voila, it fixed it. But this seems to be an issue with just this keyboard brand, as being an owner of many different brands, this has never happened to me before. Also, in feet position 2, there is this orange rubber on the feet and by normal moving the keyboard around on the desk, the orange rubber fell off and I physically had to glue them back on to get them to stay.3. METAL BACK PLATE - nice thought - just becomes instantly greasy looking if touched - that could easily have been designed better to make a better impression.4. THE KEYS - VERY VERY CLACKY - the keys bottom out on the board even when using aloesAfter comparing it to the G 915 TKL, the G915 is noticeably quieter. This is on par with the Corsair K70, and was certainly disappointed when getting this, as I assumed the aloes would have made it quieter, but its the same sound as the wisteria and daisy - no change period on any of those.

I purchase this keyboard about a month ago and I can stop going back to it. My original “go to” was the Apple Keyboard and decided to give a mechanical keyboard a try. The first day I received the new NuPhy Keyboard I have not touched my Apple Keyboard since. My favorite part is the sound the NuPhy keyboard makes; It’s very “Thocky”.I got it configured with the Cowberry Switches but I am not pleased with how sensitive the keys are. I am not the best typer so I tend to tap other keys by accident. The cowberry switches are so sensitive and has a short trigger point causing a slight taps on the key to trigger a response. I understand you will not see the color differences in a dark room because the RGB light will take over, but it would be nice to have a way to tell what keys are were. Maybe a RGB preset with solid colors for different keycaps such as the arrow, enter, exit, caps lock, etc.Overall, this is one of the best keyboards I have owed and will probably get a smaller version for traveling.

Everything sounds and feels very solid - a great experience on that front.What I will complain about, though, is the firmware. It was driving me crazy during the first week: stuck keystrokes here, dropped ones there, both issues occurring very frequently. I decided to switch to unofficial firmware, and it has been smooth sailing since. I bought this on pre-order with the Cowberry switches and extra shine-through keycaps. I tried the other included key switches for fun and am happy with my decision. I don't use the Air96 v2's wireless options, but rather use the cable through a USB switch to quickly go between my Macbook during work hours, and a PC during off-hours. Thankfully there is a workaround with two other ways to connect (via the dongle or hardwiring) but regardless, it's a major oversight. If you're going to purchase this keyboard, just make sure you are able to either hardwire or plan to have a free port available for the dongle. I much prefer to have a wireless connection for my use case so I had to free up a USB A port on my hub.Overall, a fantastic keyboard and otherwise would have been a 5 star review if not for the insane amount of bluetooth interference. Thankfully my studio monitors are hardwired so regardless it wont be an issue when using it.Just for context, I am using the keyboard for Music production and Graphic Design work and I love the feel of it overall. Highly recommend trying out both the Cowberry and Wisteria switches to see which you prefer. Found the Cowberrys a LITTLE too easy to press so maybe the Daisy switches would be a better option if you're a little heavy handed when typing and prefer a Linear switch.Love it and can't wait to eventually get another set of key caps down the road.

Then I learned about the NuPhy Air75 and fell in love with the aesthetics. The problem was it also lacked the numpad. Fast forward a bit and I discovered the Air96 V2. It had everything I ever wanted in a keyboard. The build quality and typing experience is better than anything I've ever used. I decided to get it in Ionic White with Cowberry switches. My only negatives? The markings on the key could use a little more contrast because if the lighting in the room isn't perfect, they are a little difficult to read. This was my dilemma in choosing which color of the keyboard to buy. I liked the increased contrast of the markings on the Lunar Grey version but I thought the keyboard looked better in Ionic White. Another negative is that I found the shift key to be a little wobbly. My personal opinion is that they are just wide enough to require stabilizers but they don't use them. Some of the other wide key could also probably use stabilizers. The rest of the keyboard feel rock solid and the key wobbling is the only thing that detracts from that high-quality feel. My last gripe, and this is totally my own fault, is with the Cowberry switches. They are buttery smooth and feel amazing but they are just a little too light coming from "reds" (from Gateron and Cherry). I probably should have chosen the Gateron 2.0 switches in red but without actually being able to try them in-person, it was impossible to know how different the Cowberry and Gateron Reds would compare. I know they are only a couple of grams different and I didn't think I'd notice that but I do. Maybe it's not the strength of the springs. Maybe they feel different because of how smooth the Cowberries are. The keycaps feel like they are being suspended on tiny little cushions of unicorn breath. They are unbelievably smooth. As I said, I can't fault the keyboard when it comes to the switches and it's something that I'll probably get used to. In fact, I'm typing this review on a "L" keyboard that uses Cherry Reds and my fingers actually feel like they are experiencing fatigue so maybe the Cowberries are the perfect switch for me.
Overall a very good keyboard in you are specifically looking for a 96% low profile. No issues with setup, works well in bluetooth, wireless and wired modes.I'm not a fan of the out there colours on the keys but assumed that they came with all white modifier keys like my Halo75 did but it didn't. Also doesn't come with a windows key only an apple cmd key or any other spare keys e.g. mute, volume etc. Considering VIA compatibility and key remapping was such a selling point, I found the standard set of keys to be pretty poor. Buying a whole set of aftermarket keycaps fixed my problems but it was another $50 that I really shouldn't have needed to spend. Lastly, RGB was quite difficult to set, I usually go for as close to white as possible, same as the side LED's. ... After a few weeks in, I still have trouble finding the arrow keys and miss the larger zero number on the numpad. Would probably prefer some separation between the keys to make it easier to find these keys.Overall, don't regret the purchase but just think they could have executed the experience better.
