I did a lot of research before buying this keyboard and I'm massively impressed. I've owned half a dozen keyboards (the Code V3 was my previous favorite, putting in years of main keyboard work before it shorted out). I never thought I'd buy a keyboard without MX switches. Here I am typing this review on the Halo96 with Rose Glacier switches and I am contemplating buying a second keyboard for my other setup.Highlights:- The board is incredibly sturdy. It has a great heft.- The keycaps that come with the keyboard are wonderful (though I wouldn't mind an option, maybe a special edition, that comes in two-tone caps instead of the green / red / yellow accents).- The rose glacier switches are wonderful. I wouldn't recommend them if you particularly prefer the clicky clacky noise of some of the MX keys, but as a standalone typing experience they are wonderfully smooth.- I like that with the backlighting off and certain keycaps swapped, the keyboard is basically completely inconspicuous on a desk with a macbook / apple products, unlike many visually and acoustically louder keyboards that clash with anything aside from an RGB-laden gaming setup.

I can safely while at the same time boldly say that Nuphy outdid themselves for the Halo96 by coming up with their own in-house switches. I previously owned Nuphy's Halo65 keyboard with the Gateron Pro 2.0 Red switches but found it wasn't exactly the best feeling for typing although it did sound amazing. I ended up hotswapping for the Gateron Pro Browns and while the tactile feel was much better, it still wasn't what I was looking for. I ended up purchasing Glorious Panda switches and I could finally hit over 100wpm with 95% percent accuracy most of the time. The Glorious Panda switches were good in their own right but they were loud and heavy to depress and if you're expected to type extensively for long periods of time, the strain on the fingers was evident. Now, ... I will surely be making that purchase when the time comes. 5/5, highly recommend, will buy again.

I purchased my Halo96 with Baby Racoon switches installed and also a set of Rose Glacier as an extra switch set. I was unsure if I would prefer a linear or a tactile switch, hence I bout the extra set at the same time due to shipping into Australia been quite expensive.Overall, I really do like the keyboard. I really want to give it a rating of 3 and 3/4 stars as there is just one too many flaws with the product. Clearly, I am in the minority here as it looks like most users absolutly love it and gave 5 stars. If I was 100% happy with its 'out of the box' configuration I would probably say the same as the hardware is simply fantastic in my opinion. If I was 100% happy with its 'out of the box' configuration I would probably say the same as the hardware is simply fantastic in my opinion. I think that most 5 star reviews are 'out of the box' users. When you start to try and customize the key layout or programme macros, this is where the issues with the keyboard start to show up.The switches feel great (I preferred the Baby Racoon switches so kept them on). They have a pleasing sound, are lubed from the factory (no spring ping or scratchiness) and have a really great rebound feeling which is important to me (Of the very few switches I have tried I have found the rebound feel to be lackluster or too soft. It seems like an overlooked characteristic on many switches). Sound is nice thanks to the dampening included. Not too loud (though it isn't 'silent').The case is solid and feels good in the hand. I love the halo lights and the 3 connection modes. This was the feature that drew me to pick this board over others. It seems that it is very hard to find a 96% keyboard that has both Bluetooth and 2.4gHz connection modes!Keycaps and the special 'Ghost' space bar look absolutely fantastic. They also feel great to type on. The extra keycaps to customize the look and colour of the keyboard are a nice added touch. One thing that I was not expecting though was the space bar to be using a different switch to the rest of the board. I assumed this was a mistake, so I emailed Nuphy about this, and was informed that it is actually a deliberate design decision. This information should be stated on the product page!! This is what bothered me the most about it. If it was clear and easy to see this on the product page it would have saved me (and Nuphy) a chain of emails. To Nuphy's credit, they did offer to send me another Baby Raccoon switch. I declined the offer, though I was grateful that they made it in the first place! Many companies would not.Lastly, the Nuphy console software is horrendous. It is unintuitive to navigate, and is still missing many features (I understand the software is still in beta). I would like to see better RGB customization options in future versions (that include the ability to adjust the halo light, currently cannot be done through the software). Also, better key mapping features. Currently, you are unable to configure a secondary function for keys (Eg by pressing FN + delete = insert). It only allows you to change the primary function which is limiting. Luckily, this isn't a major problem for the Halo96 as it has nearly all the keys of a standard sized keyboard. Halo65 and 75 owners however may find it limiting when trying to set up secondary layers of key mapping.Would I recommend this keyboard? Yes. As long as you would be happy with standard layouts and don't have a use case which may require some form of customization (i.e If you use it in 'out of the box' mode). The hardware is great, as is the 3 modes of connection. If you think you will have to modify the keyboard settings in any way though, you may be better off looking elsewhere (QMK/VIA keyboards are common now and very customizable).Hopefully you find this info helpful in your buying decision.
Absolutely great board, I got mine with the baby kangaroos and they are fantastic tactiles. The board sounded and felt amazing out of the box. I used the stock keycaps for about two weeks before changing them for my preferred MT3 set, I only wish my MT3 spacebar was as nicely damped as the one that came with the stock set. The halo lighting is beautiful and the wrist rest is comfortable and and stunning when the halo light shines through it.My only complaint and this is really just a preference thing is that it came with a night breeze switch under the spacebar, which felt trash compared to the rest of the key with kangaroos as the rebound was just so much slower and weaker. I swapped it with one of the included extra switches the supply and opted for the baby ... MoreAbsolutely great board, I got mine with the baby kangaroos and they are fantastic tactiles. Im not a huge fan of the right shift being so short, but I knew that it was before I bought the board so thats in no way a knock on the board.I haven't been able to get the software for this board to work, so I'm not super happy on that, but they do offer key commands for changing how the lighting and stuff looks on board.Overall TLDR: Fantastic board that I love to type on, the sound and feel are amazing (Baby kangaroos), the lighting is beautiful and the whole keyboard seems very well built. Stock keycaps were great, just not my preferred profile. If I need another keyboard down the line I would highly consider buying another nuphy.
I'm torn about this keyboard. Even though Nuphy's marketing is primarily aimed at Mac users, as well as their inclusion of stock MacOS function row keys, their MacOS software support for their current boards is non-existent. That's correct, there is ZERO software support for MacOS. Nuphy has announced that the NEXT generation of boards will have software support for MacOs but that is no consolation for current customers. The Nuphy Console that is available for Windows is also a mess, unless you're pretty tech-savvy and do a whole lot of reading on Reddit, you will likely find it unusable. There is merit to this keyboard, it sounds great right out of the box, it looks absolutely gorgeous, even if the white finish is a bit fragile (I already and inexplicably already ... The convenience of having a 2.4 ghz receiver as well as Bluetooth AND wired options is hard to overstate. I purchased mine with linear Night Breeze switches, they feel pretty good, although I received more than a dozen "dead" and "mushy" switches. To their credit, Nuphy immediately replaced them with a new batch, which I commend them for. The design of their Ghost Bar is nothing short of incredible, it completely transforms the sound and feel of the loudest and most-used key, making the experience that much more enjoyable. I do wish that the white spacebar that is included would also be a Ghost Bar, even if I had to pay a little extra, it would make the all-white aesthetic much more accessible while retaining all the premium features. Since release of the Halo96, I have purchased a white Ghost Bar (it would be great if they also included a white numpad Enter key, I ended up using an extra one from my Keychron keyboard). This keyboard sits on my desk at work atop a wool felt pad, after doing the Tempest "tape mod", the sound is quiet enough to not get me fired from my job hehe.I feel for this company, it seems like they are a small team with large ambitions. They would greatly benefit from more talent directed at their software integration, heck, just make the boards VIA /QMK compatible! Their design vision is admirable, and their products are GOOD, only falling short great. I hope that Nuphy will replace the boards of current customers for ones that will have ANY software support for their heavily marketed-to-MacOs customers, but that is very unlikely. Overall, 4 stars for the right-out of the box experience, and the best of luck to the Nuphy team in their future endeavors!
Before I gush about the keyboard, I have to get the single negative out of the way first: Nuphy Console is TERRIBLE. It's not functional for most people in the first place, and if you manage to get it working, it's still a huge hassle. I'm sure it will be ironed out with updates, but at the moment, don't even bother using Nuphy Console. That being said, I have never once needed to remap keys at the hardware level, so it's a non-issue for me, personally. Now onto to the positive... these keyboard feels like pure luxury. The case has weight and heft, with premium touches everywhere you can see. Micro chamfered edges, rounded corners, variety of machine patterns, etc. The keys have ZERO wobble, and the switches (Night Breeze) feel and sound immaculate. I am coming ... I am coming from a Corsair keyboard of similar price, and this quite literally feels like the difference between driving a Rolls-Royce and a Corolla. I had no idea that keyboards could be this pleasant to use.The keyboard supports wireless and wired modes, with both Bluetooth and 2.4 radios. This is great, because you can functionally switch the keyboard seamlessly between 4 different paired devices (3 bluetooth, one 2.4 via USB dongle). Not only can you pair to multiple devices, but it has support for both Mac and Windows keys/shortcuts via a physical switch. It even includes key caps for both Mac and Windows to suit your preference.I'm am having a blast using the keyboard to type this review.
I am satisfied with your company's products, but I would like to share my opinion on a few inconveniences I discovered while using them. The keyboard you produced is excellent in terms of design, but there are some inconvenient aspects from the user's perspective. The discomfort I feel is related to the position of the arrow keys.First, the arrow keys are attached to the number pad (especially 0), and it is very frequent that the cursor moves to a different position instead of entering 0 when typing numbers. Second, I understand that the right shift key is short, but the cursor often goes up, just like the previous issue. My suggestion regarding this issue is to create a small gap between the left arrow key and the adjacent key (I don't know the name) similar to ... Second, I understand that the right shift key is short, but the cursor often goes up, just like the previous issue. My suggestion regarding this issue is to create a small gap between the left arrow key and the adjacent key (I don't know the name) similar to the gap in the layout of the letter and number pad (about half a keycap? I am not sure), and place the arrow keys in the middle of that gap (which would create a gap around all directions of the arrow keys). The reason for this is that when using the keyboard without looking at it, the sense of touch is an essential factor in identifying the location of the arrow keys, and I think the key to this is the spacing between the keys. The current keyboard layout has the arrow keys attached to other keys, making them difficult to distinguish. For the arrow keys, it is common to find their position with the right hand moving, but if all the keys are attached, it is challenging to find them by touch alone, and eventually, one has to look at the keyboard. If you have to look at the keyboard every time you use the arrow keys, it can be very inefficient.

It's really up there, rest assured you're not getting your hands on a flimsy toy. The feel of each key press is super smooth and the work they did "under the hood" to absorb key pressing noises isn't a gimmick at all, it really adds to the experience of dropping your jaw. But, nothing is perfect and there's still room for improvement. If you read reviews on the product, or some of the feedback left here by other user, it won't be news to you, but it really must be taken into consideration before purchasing:- Left-handers, beware: consider how much you use your Right Ctrl key on your daily tasks, and how much you're willing to adapt to using the left one instead, either by shifting your right hand from its intended location, or by dropping your mouse to use the key - in either case, a productivity drop along the day.- ANSI only: this handicaps some languages that actively use the special characters around the Enter key on an ISO layout. I'm still struggling to get used to '~' and '^' being above the Enter for Portuguese, as it's a common special character used in my language. The Left Shift, being a longer version, skips the location of the greater and minor symbols key as well.- No instructions out of the box on how to work with the Halo/LED profiles. Went to Google, which led me to Reddit, which suggested Discord, but I gave up chasing the rabbit hole before finding the Red Queen in my face.- Maybe because I can't find a way to turn off the Halo effect (lighting on keys is off), but the battery doesn't seem to last as long as advertised.- The wrist rest came with some smudges around the area of the screws, probably screw grease. Even though overtime your own hands will camouflage that smudge on the top side, you can still see it on the underside of the wrist rest.- I was surprised to see that, even though I ordered Brown Switches, the space was using a black one. Didn't go looking through the whole keyboard to see what's up elsewhere, but thankfully, they sent a set of test switches and I was able to replace the black with a brown one.
All the keyboard features work in Linux without needing to tweak anything. There are 4 Function keys that do not trigger the secondary keycodes because they simply do not exist in Linux, so it is not a fault of the keyboard or Linux, it's just that Linux doesn't need/use them. They are F3-F6. I'm a simple person so some of the less obtrusive options suite me fine. They include extra keycaps for Esc, Spacebar, Enter, Arrow keys, Win/Alt/Option/Menu. The only nitpick I have is they do not include a black or white replacement for the numpad Enter key, only Teal and Orange. Also, the only spacebar replacement is White but the underside is not the same as the original Yellow spacebar. It is a simple hollow shell while the Yellow spacebar is ridged and includes soft pads which you cannot reattach to the White spacebar because it does not have anything to attach to. Small nitpick but kind of annoying. The keyboard arrived from China and arrived in Customs quickly. After that the shipping information never updated. Apparently after Customs they shipped the package via UPS and I never received an notification of this until the same day it was arriving, so I was clueless as to where my package was for several days thinking it was still stuck in Customs. Not a big deal but it would've been nice to have been notified earlier about the UPS tracking so I could follow it's position while in transit. All in all, I am very pleased with the keyboard. It was very solid and heavy. I also ordered the wrist rest to match and it is the perfect height and width to match the keyboard. I thought a hard wrist rest would be uncomfortable but it is not. I have been using it for a few days now and there is no discomfort. The keycaps are also nice while a little tall for my taste but not by that much. They are called KOP which seem similar to OEM. The switches I chose were Rose Glacier and they are very smooth with a nice tacticle bump. I am not an expert in switches but when comparing to a few others, including the samples they sent, I am genuinely satisified with the feel. You cannot go wrong with this keyboard. It is priced appropriately when compared to competitors. In fact, I think it is better than most options in similar price range and even above. As a long-time Linux user I am thoroughly pleased with this keyboard.
