NuPhy NSA Shine-Through Air V2 PC Keycaps Black / Air75/96 V2

Halo96 with Night Breeze switches and Shine-through keycaps. It's a delight typing on this keyboard. The Night Breeze switches have a good feel to them without making too much noise.I opted for the shine-through keycaps. The Halao96 is LED illuminated in multiple colors, it would have been a shame not to have the keys be a part of this! There are quite a few animations one can select to really take advantage of the light show when typing. And you can change these on the fly as well, to select lighting options depending on the environment or your mood. The keyboard is solid and HEAVY! I was quite surprised at how much heft it had. It absolutely does NOT move around while typing. It also helps mute the sound when I'm typing as well. The keyboard was designed with gaming in mind, so it can take heavy-duty usage. It has worked flawlessly when connected either wirelessly or wired. When being used in a wireless configuration, the battery life seems to be excellent. I notice no lagging when typing wirelessly. Because it uses USB-C, there is no problem with cable compatibility (or the orientation of an annoying, shaped plug!). Just make sure you keep a USB-C cable handy.Popping off and replacing the keycaps was mindlessly simple. The included key-removal tool does the job effortlessly. The keycaps themselves are quite solid. As I am a writer, I have worn the letters off many keycaps in the past. I am confident that will not be a problem with these keycaps! The only problem I came across was one that is self-inflicted. I rearranged the keycaps from the QWERTY layout to a DVORAK layout. The keycaps are made so they create a smooth curve from the lower row to the upper rows. By rearranging the keycaps, I ended up with several keys that stick up above the rest. It does not affect my typing, it merely presents a visual imperfection to an otherwise perfect keyboard. This also means that the two keys for my index fingers (the "U" and "H") do not have bumps on them to facilitate lining up the fingers properly on the keyboard when touch-typing. (Hey, Nuphy! If you ever come out with a DVORAK set of shine-through keycaps, let me know!)

PROSShine-through allows this to be used as a media keyboard - or in an otherwise casual manner - by not needing you to properly place your hands on the keyboard so you can touch type in the dark. If thats what you need - this works.CONSThe ABS keys smudge as easily as any other ABS key caps. The shine-through doesn't fully light up the F-key function legends, due to the fact that the lights are on the upper portion of the keys. Space key has no shine-through.PERSONAL TASTEThe metalic gray of the aluminum framing the black keys with select color keys, gives me the impression of a cash register keypad re-fashioned into a functional, stylish, portable keyboard. The keys feel and sound (smoother texture, bass-ier sound) better to type on than the standard PBT ... MorePROSShine-through allows this to be used as a media keyboard - or in an otherwise casual manner - by not needing you to properly place your hands on the keyboard so you can touch type in the dark. I've been a dedicated user of mechanical keyboards since the mid-80s, starting with classics from Digital and IBM. After trying out many models over the years, I've finally found my ideal match in the Air75 V2 with its shine-through keys. Its size and slim profile make it easy to carry around, while the customization options reflect the versatility expected from a modern keyboard. One of the standout features for me is the tactile experience. Each keypress feels responsive and satisfying, a testament to the keyboard's high-quality build. Additionally, the keyboard's compatibility across various operating systems enhances its versatility, making it a great choice for both professional and personal use. However, it's not without room for improvement. I find the contrasting colors of the ESC, Spacebar, and Enter keys slightly juvenile. Offering these keys in matching dark shine-through options would add a touch of sophistication. But, aside from this minor gripe, the Air75 V2 meets all my needs, combining the nostalgic feel of old-school keyboards with the advanced features of contemporary models. It's a remarkable tool for anyone who values the blend of tradition and innovation in their tech gadgets.
