Yes, it's an absolute monster and weighs more than a brick, but it fits perfectly in my NZXT H510 Flow case and temperatures rarely go above 70° (they usually hover around 65°). Don't hesitate if you get a chance to purchase one.

I typically buy the latest and greatest PC hardware as soon as it’s released and having done this for awhile, I’m not easily impressed. But the RTX 4090 Founders Edition has me in awe as one of the best generational upgrades ever seen in the PC gaming space. There’s a lot of reasons for this which I’ll cover below, but let’s start by saying this GPU is only going to show significant improvement over a 3080 or 3090 at 4K and high refresh rates above 60Hz. I’m gaming on a 3840x1600p 144Hz Ultrawide monitor so even in some games I’m not getting as big of a % gain compared to 4K.One of the biggest upgrades on the 4090 is the GPU chip itself is being made on TSMC 4nm instead of Samsung 8nm, which is at least a 2 process node improvement. We saw what 6nm did for AMD GPUs allowing them to hit clock speeds over 2.5GHz while Ampere was stuck around 2GHz again. So expectations were high from a clock speed improvement and that certainly is the case with the 4090 able to hit clock speed around 3GHz!!!The change to TSMC and node shrink also allowed improved efficiency which even caught Nvidia off guard as the rumors of 600-900W power consumption were probably based off of Samsung expectations. This also explains the massively over-engineered block coolers you see from Nvidia partners that are not only very long but also 4 slots wide. The 4090FE is actually shorter in length than the 3090FE but it is 3 slots wide instead of the 2.5 slots on the 3090. It is also a little taller (closer to the case) so make sure you have enough room in your case. The good news is the length is much shorter than any other partner designs which allows me to keep using my same case.As mentioned the beefed up cooling and improved efficiency allows the 4090FE to actually run cooler and quieter than the 3090FE even though it can be “unlocked” to use up to 600W of power or 133% of its official TBP of 450W. You can do this by enabling in an OC software like MSI Afterburner and increasing power limit and voltage along with clock speeds if you are OK with overclocking. Also you must have 4x8-pin power connectors at 150W each to enable the 600W power limit, only 3 connectors will limit you to 450W as there is a component in the adapter that detects how many 8-pin adapters are connected. More on the adapter later. So yeah this is an extremely impressive GPU that offers sometimes double the performance for me having a 3090FE. The difference isn’t as big as with the 3090Ti as that was around 15% faster so it eats into some of those gains. If the 3090 was the first true 4K/60 GPU, then the 4090 is definitely the first true 4K/100+ high refresh GPU. It’s truly amazing and just chews through all games at max settings and even maintains high FPS with demanding Ray Tracing effects due to the upgraded RT cores. Now onto some concerns and news headlines:1. The 12VHPWR connector has some issues with potentially catching fire and apparently there are 2 issues, a cheaper quality cable rated for 150V vs 300V and more recently, the adapter not fully being inserted into the GPU 16-pin connector, causing resistance and extra current to flow through other wires and causing the burning. Make sure to seat your GPU adapter fully!!! The cable adapter is kind of ugly and also comes straight off at a 90 from the GPU, the old method angled at 45 degrees was a better design on the 3090. I plan to get a better quality cable from my PSU maker or cablemod when they become available.2. Yes, these GPUs are still hard to get even though there is no crypto market to compete with. Part of this is because it seems like the only “real upgrade” in the 40 series lineup and it didn’t come with the crazy markup compared to the 4080. For those getting antsy I would just wait it out and see how the 4080 launch turns out and also see what AMD’s 7900 series turns out in a few weeks. I was very lucky and got an invite through GeForce Experience a few days after launch so I was able to get one about a week after launch.3. The GPU is very expensive, which is true, but if you’re not on a 4K at 100+ FPS or doing some advanced computing you really don’t need this GPU anyways. But that isn’t expensive nowadays??? 30 series prices are falling and 2nd hand units are going for amazing prices so take advantage of those while you can if you don’t need the latest and greatest, especially when you know the 4080 and 4070Ti are kinda meh in terms of price and performance it’ll be awhile before 40 series prices make sense, if at all.So that’s it in a nutshell, it’s one of the most impressive upgrades I’ve ever seen from an Nvidia flagship and a GPU I could be happy with for a few generations if I really wanted to. Ah who am I kidding, I’m going to want the next 50 series flagship when it launches too!!!PS: I think if you’re willing to wait, a cut down 20GB 320-bit AD102 chip sold as 4080Ti for $1000 or so will be the GPU darling of this generation. Just don’t know how long it’ll take for us to see it, if at all.

I have a relatively large stable of 3xxx series cards to compare against, and the 4090 absolutely decimates all of them at 1440p and 4K.Just a complete wrecker of a card, the benchmarks and real world speed is off the charts, power usage on average is ~420w-430w in most games, and at a static 60% fan speed it hold to 45c Core and 72c VRAM, which is superb out of the box VRAM cooling compared to the previous gen of GDDR6X cards.Despite only 2 fans, they are quite large, and relatively quiet. The card has slight coil whine but that's not unexpected, and neither are noticeable when gaming with headphones. Now the power usage...12VHPWR is...not great. I have a moderately large case (Meshify 2) but I have opted to not put my side panel on until I receive the Seasonic cable with the right-angle plug. The dongle and the reported burning when it's bent sounds very problematic, and absolutely all PSU partners should have been aware of the best practice for the standard well before launch.

Value: The price is good for the performance considering the market the way it is right now.Performance: I would average 80-90 FPS on Cyberpunk in 4k with RT Overdrive and DLSS 3.0. The sound is hard to describe, but it IS very unpleasant and at least in my rig the pitch and tone would change based on the load on the GPU at the time. You could especially hear it on starting up games before the fans rev'd up.Take this into consideration though, coil whine is very dependent on many things such as your motherboard, PSU combo as well as the quality of power out the wall. I have a ROG Crosshair VIII Dark hero and ASUS Gold 1000W ATX 3.0, if that helps. To be fair, most people wear headphones while gaming or you could drown it out by playing with fan curves. Had the same issue with ROG Strix version.Ended up with the AORUS RTX Master version which has minimal coil whine. Conclusion: If you don't have issues with coil whine or care that much about it, I still think this is the very best value of all the 4090s and the best looking.
So I'll start off by saying this is an absolute beast of a GPU. Coming from a 3080, the performance gain seems to be around 75%. If you have the power supply and overall computer to take full advantage of it, and the money to buy, it definitely won't dissapoint. That leads me into the first flaw, the price. The mining craze and shortage of GPUs lead to crazy prices that Nvidia is clearly still trying to take advantage of. Cost per dollar wise this thing is technically a win, however with nearly every generation in the past, you have been able to get high end card performance for mid range prices and that did not happen this time around. Second flaw, not including PCIE 5.0 and DP 2.1. While PCIE 5.0 is really not a big deal, the lack of DP 2.1 is really disappointing ... Yes I know there are no DP 2.1 monitors yet, however GPU inclusion of new DP standards is what drives new monitors to come out. In conclusion, this GPU is quite incredible when it comes to performance, but just missed the mark.
Not going to bore you with how amazing it is - it's a 4090, you know the score with this GPU. It's flagship atm and is the king of the hill. This particular card - being cheaper and by a brand most gamers associate as no thrills, I believe is similar, if not the same as the Gainward variant of a similar price. It does what it says on the box as do all 4090 cards!I am running this on stock clocks but have reduced the power consumption. It reports between 275-330 watts for the GPU power consumption only depending on the game - there isn't much performance drop in my view.It runs nice and cool compared to my 1080 Ti or the 7900XTX I RMA'd - so I'm a bit sad I will have to turn the heating on in winter to heat my room instead of relying on the GPU to do the job ... I upgraded to a 1000W PSU but I'm pretty sure my 850W would have been up to the job - my system consumes about ~500W from the wall when gaming. The fans are quietish - I can *kind of* hear them when I game, very faintly, I think my noctual cpu fan is louder. There is absolutely no coil whine with this card.Like I said, no thrills and does the job. I would recommend.
All the trouble and effort to get one was worth it.My experience is a bit inflated, having come from a GTX1060, but still. Every game I have is running completely maxed out at 4K running at 120 FPS.The graphics this card can create are absolutely amazing. One thing I can fully appreciate is how power and heat efficient this card can be. Everyone heard the rumors that the new Nvidia cards were going to be power hungry, overheating monsters, and AMDs efficiency was going to go through the roof. AMD claim this themselves. The opposite became true.AMD's top card can pull the same voltage as the 4090 but only performs 60-70% of the work.Yes it's a brick, yes You need extra clearance on the side for the special cable, but if you can deal with all that it's a fantastic GPU.I have this in a case with excellent airflow, and the card is barely even audible while benchmarking at 100% load.I achieve this by dropping the maximum power limit to 90% and adjusting the fan curve to a bit more conservative curve. That change only took about 4% of the performance away, but now the card uses nearly 50w less power, barely breaches 60c while at 100% load and remians quiet. My PC is in my living room so that's important to me.This founder's edition is arguably the best card to get, because Nvidia already pushed this card to its limits. You really can't get much more performance out of it with the other models, and this one's less expensive.there is no support bracket needed with this model, and it's shorter than some of the AIB partners, so most will not have any issue with fitting this in a case lengthwise. You will have to consider case width though, especially if you're going to use the included power adapter.cable mod is coming out with a 90° adapter but it's not available yet. I think there are some other options out there. This card is really expensive, but it's also a very powerful, well engineered piece of hardware, that won't become obsolete for years. The only real complaint I have is the packaging.this card comes in a folded cardboard box, with no anti-static bag or any other protection from outside elements. There's a seam around 3/4 of the box, You can literally see the three sides of the card from the outside. So absolutely do not even carry this through the rain for even a second. put it in a bag the moment you purchase, and keep it there until you install it.The packaging choice by Nvidia completely baffles me.
I am currently using this with my 16-core AMD 5950x CPU. An odd mix with RTX 4090 I know, but it works for me brilliantly. Given the CPU and GPU combo, 1,000watt PSU is plenty.Since I do not game, CPU is not a limitation when using TwinMotion architectural software for building design. That software is 100% GPU and RAM usage at all times and very little to no CPU usage. While the software doesn't exceed 16GB of VRAM (so a 4080 would have been fine), the processing power of Ray Tracing from the RTX 4090 allows me to take full advantage of TwinMotion's Path Tracing! There is "some" coil whine, but not as bad as my old RTX 3090 FE.I did not use the included adapter; i went with CableMod's harness instead for both a cleaner look and to hopefully prevent any ... Is this card expensive? Absolutely. The thing you need to realize about this card is that just because it is expensive, that doesn't mean it's a ripoff. This GPU is absolutely worth it's listed price, especially if you're investing in it for video production, 3D renders, or imaging. The RTX 4090 is a massive leap forward and Nvidia could have artificially limited performance from 20-30% over previous generation to keep things consistent with other generation gaps but they didn't. You're getting anywhere from 60-70% rasterized gains and up to 4x with DLSS 3.0 for games that support it. CUDA core count has increased 62% meaning your workflow is going to be buttery smooth. Gone are the days of GPU bottlenecks (for now) and the only thing limiting you from reaching your ... MoreIs this card expensive? Absolutely. Does the artificially limited stock and bot scalpers ruin the fun? Absolutely. Don't try to pretend the RTX 4090 is a bad card just because the world sucks.
I see some pretty hilariously salty reviews on here, and I can only imagine they either cannot afford one (which, fair enough) or they couldn't get one and are now salty. The fact of the matter is, this generation of 4090 with the massive amount of power they pull are actually some of the coolest flagship GPU's in many generations. The heatsink/coolers are so overbuilt on not only the FE but especially the AIB cards that even when drawing over 450W the GPU cores are sitting in the neighborhood of 65-75C. That is downright impressive.I personally was not able to get my hands on a FE RTX 4090, but instead was able to get a Gigabyte OC model and I am blown away.... at 3GHz on the core, my card is not even hitting 70C - and when everything is at stock, the core sits ... That is so wild. The next gen consoles sit in the realm of 11-12 TFLOPS.While this GPU is hands down 100% overpriced, it is also a wild moment for GPU history. This type of performance uplift Gen-over-gen is one of the highest we have ever seen, and we now have a single GPU die that has more than 75 billion transistors packed on to it. This is an amazing time for computing, graphics and the future of AI/machine learning.
