This replaced my original Shield 2017 remote which still worked perfectly. However from a functionality standpoint this is a better remote that is thoughtfully laid out. The dedicated buttons like power, volume, mute etc. are very convenient in operations. Well done.

My original remote for my Nvidia Shield was getting unreliable. Purchased this to replace it. This remote is easier to hold, controls all my attached devices (TV and Home Theater) in a single remote. My old shield remote had issues either with the TV or audio receiver.This is a major upgrade to the original remote. It makes the Nvidia Shield the streaming box to have. A must upgrade once your original remote starts acting up.

Loved the original remote that came with my 2019 shield, BUT THIS ONE IS BETTER. The original remote was the same model, but suffered from a serious design flaw where-in the battery cover quickly became loose and would fall of constantly. I bought this remote just to replace the original and mitigate the issue for a while. To my surprise and absolute delight, they made a revision to the original model and added a locking latch to the battery cover! Greatest remote ever now. Super happy with my purchase.

Had to replace the original remote as it stopped working. I like this one a lot better. The illuminated buttons are a real plus. The triangular shape looks weird but feels comfortable in the hand. Overall a very good remote.

I love the original Shield remote but after a few years the internal battery will no longer hold a charge or in the case of the removable battery spare I had, stopped working entirely.Either way I eventually had to buy this version and although I am NOT a fan of the triangular design I do like everything else about the remote. The best part is the switch to a single double A battery. This ensures I wont have any more issues like I have in the past. I also like the programmable keys. Overall if you have an Nvidia Shield TV then you will like this remote.

For a while I was using one or other bluetooth remote, but every one of those was very inconsistent about waking my box up or losing its pairing with the box, forcing me to use a phone to reconnect. So I got a new Shield remote. The good: It's a little bigger and it has a distinctive shape. It absolutely works the instant I start pressing buttons. It doesn't have the idiotic touch-based volume slider my old one. The bad: OH DEAR SWEET JESUS I HATE THE NETFLIX BUTTON. One accidental press and I'm looking at long seconds for Netflix to load. User of a 2017 shield tablet , the original remote it came with was horrible and actually on me. $69 later I got hold of this beauty. Better remote in every way than original. It's pricey but knowing nvidia they want to make money , but it is worth it , remote light up as u move it , and Buttons are super responsive. Only think I'd recommend adding was entering a TV source button so it could be used to control TV source.
For anyone with the 2015 or 2017 Shield, it really is worth the price to get this new remote. I replaced the remote on my '17 Shield with this. Backlit, far easier to use (has more buttons, but not too many), and takes normal AAA batteries instead of the flat cells. Just having the dedicated volume buttons alone make it worth the cost, but having a dedicated pause button is really good too. The shape is easy to hold, despite what you might think by looking at it.
