I have oily, sensitive, light olive skin. I typically use this after I've moisturized my lips (lip balm) and before a lip gloss or lipstick. The shade range is really pretty, and I really like the finish of these, but for some reason, these always make my lips so dry and they end up peeling. I love the initial application— the pencil is smooth and creamy, and glides on really easily— and the look after it's been applied is very suede-matte, but it only lasts a few hours before it starts crumbling in the corners of my lips and my lips start peeling! I have to wipe it off at that point. I think there is something in it that can cause sensitivity.

I've been wearing MAC Stone lipstick for years, but lately I'm finding that the MAC Stone lip pencil, used alone, glides on much like the full lipstick. This morning, I began the application by outlining my mouth with MAC Stripdown pencil, which, for me, is customary when going for a nudie lip. MAC Stripdown is just clean, nonjudgmental–absolutely obvious to skin tone. Next, I overdrew my lips in MAC Chestnut lip pencil, shading inward toward the center. I filled in the center of the mouth with MAC Stone pencil, deliberately shading over the Chestnut pencil for a deeper blended look. Last, I dabbed a dark concealer across my cupid's bow for a nice pout, then over-blended with NYX Moonwalk and MAC Chestnut pencils. A wonderful pouty mouth with NO pilling or residue. Clean.

Love these pencils by far the best lipliners from NYX. I like the intense pigmentation from the shades, it’s creamy texture but matte. The color range could expand as I have most of the shades. Wish they would make more colors with the same formula. They are more on the matte formula side, with intense pigmentation. Not retractable so you have to have a sharpener on hand and a good one for them. Otherwise it’s a affordable and worth the buy lip liner for your collection.

I’ve had this lip liner for a long time now lol and it’s still going strong! It’s a wood pencil that you’ll have to sharpen but it’s worth it! This and the L.A. Girls chocolate lip liner are my two favorites! The NYX lip liner is smooth and genuinely last for hours. I’ve worn this by itself with chapstick, lip gloss, and matte creams and it’s held up every single time! NYX products are affordable so there’s no worry there. Go grab one!

I like the color options available for these liners but I prefer the slim pencils over these. These are softer on the lips but they smudge much more. It does give a good color payoff. The soft spoken is such a beautiful shade, the Shanghai isn’t a favorite. If you’re a light medium skin toned girl (for reference, I’m MAC 25-27 depending on the time of the year) definitely pick up soft spoken for a nice dark neutral look! The Shanghai may pull a little too pink though.

Great with gloss or balm

I have Sandstorm. The color is too light for me and I have light skin. So why do they put it in freebies when they know it will go to people of all colors? SMH Anyways it wears best with glosses & balms, keeping them from wandering. The formula is just dry enough to keep things in place without being too drying. Again great with tinted lip oils and moisture rich balms or glosses. The shade range available is amazing so I do recommend, just get your shade.

Oldie but goodie

I love this shade for deep dark skin tones its a red brown but balanced, warm more than anything definitely not a neutral shade. But this has amazing staying power once warmed up it glides on effortlessly. I remember buying these liners years ago when the matching liquid lipsticks had come out. I'm glad they haven't discontinued this range completely. 10/10

Very hard formula!

I have always heard about NYX lip liners being good.However I find these ones extremely hard and dry! They aren’t creamy or soft at all so it’s really hard to press and get them to line. If you lay them flat you can use the side of the point to color in your lip for pretty light wash of color. But if you want it to be dark and saturated and a fine line on the edge you have to press and it kind of just pulls your skin. I’m not a fan and kind of bummed that I bought four of them. Also, Brooklyn Thorn and Moonwalk are basically the same color so definitely don’t buy both of those like I did. The swatch photos are horrendous. Even the ones on the arm are really hard to zoom in and really see a difference in colors. I was looking for the perfect brown for my pale olive skin to achieve that 90's brown lipliner look, and the color Maison is PERFECT. I've NEVER liked a lip color on me because I have a really green undertone since I'm olive skinned, and I decided to give brown a try and landed on these. I bought 5 different colors but Maison is my favorite it's GORGEOUS and sexy and blends soooo smoothly. I line my lips with it and then top it with a glossy brown tinted lip plumper, it's soooo pretty! Please don't ever get rid of this color!!!!
