While maybe not as warm as other suits this may be in part due to fact I’d been using a 3/2 for a few weeks before getting this one. The O’Neil is the first suit I’ve owned where it doesn’t feel like you are wearing rubber. My Excel Comp-X is close but the O’’Neil is a cut above. If your after a warm enough suit for the Gold Coast that’s super flexible grab yourself on of these.

The suit itself is extremely comfortable and plenty warm for the conditions it is designed for. Much easier to pull on and off than my older O'Neill wetsuits and my newer Xcel wetsuits. The buying experience was exactly what I needed. I had ordered one on Amazon through Green Room Extreme Outfitters. They sent me the wrong size and were completely useless in their "attempts" to correct the mistake. Luckily I was able to return that suit and order the correct size from CleanLine. CleanLine sent me the right size, which was AWESOME! Thank you guys. You were the only people who had the size I needed in stock. CleanLine also came as a recommendation directly from O'Neill.

I am sorry to say after only 6 weeks the material is not holding up. When you pull the wetsuit on now it is starting to tear. And I am doing this carefully. I previously used the Xcel springsuit but that began breaking down after about 6-8 months. I like the lightness of the material and the design O'Neill is using but it is not up for day to day use. I actually bought 2 suits so I could let each suit dry for a day. This still has not prevented the material from tearing. They need to find a new material for these suits because as of now they are simply not holding up.

O'Neill wetsuits are always great, some wetsuit manufacturers don't make a full size range and sure price might be cheaper, but why would you waste any money on a wetsuit that didn't fit perfectly.By far the best design for water egress and the double sealed neck ensures years of a tight fit preventing water entry, unlike single material suits that eventually stretch and let water in. Been buying O'Neill wetsuits since their first long sleeve spring suits with the zip up the front .
This is one of those suits I would have considered frivolous in the past. I surf or windsurf at least two days a week. So I have a shorty, a 3/2 long sleeve, a 4/3, a hooded4/5/6 for winter, and even a drysuit. In the summer on a sandy beach a shorty is just fine. But the best breaks around here involve a hike or launching from rocks, gravel, blacktop, with maybe a little sand. So barefoot is not an option.Low booties may protect your feet, but when you hit the sand or gravel they just fill up with annoying sand or gravel. Hi top booties with a shorty just look silly. But with this suit everything just works. Wear some thin 3 mil booties. Hump your gear from the lot all the way to your launch, and leave nothing on the beach. The suit is super soft, warm and stretchy. Just pull open the neck if you want to cool off. Still duck dive with the confidence that your suit won't fill up with water like the first generation of super stretchy neoprene suits did.The front zip. The right amount of stretch where you need it. The only downside is that they are not as durable as I have come to expect from O'Neill. And they are more expensive than your basic suit. But I use it a lot. It is literally hanging out to dry in my office at work right now from this mornings session.Hoping to catch another one tonight!
Chest zip is a nightmare. Shoulders are way too narrow. I'm just average build but the shoulders are so tight it would only fit someone with no muscle as all. If you have average surfer build, the shoulders will be way too tight. Order one size larger.
When it comes to wetsuits, the O'Neil 2mm is undeniably a favorite of mine. Having had the opportunity to test it extensively, I can confidently say that this wetsuit is nothing short of perfect.First and foremost, the O'Neil 2mm wetsuit strikes a remarkable balance between flexibility and insulation. The 2mm thickness is ideal for warmer waters and provides just the right amount of insulation, ensuring comfort during extended sessions in the water. One standout feature of this wetsuit is its impeccable design. O'Neil has clearly paid attention to detail, resulting in a sleek and aesthetically pleasing product. Even after prolonged use and exposure to saltwater, the suit remains in excellent condition, with no significant signs of wear and tear. This longevity is a testament to the brand's dedication to crafting products that withstand the test of time.
Haven’t had a long arm spring in a while and wonder why I denied myself? The hyper freak is perfect for that transition weather between summer and winter (also known as autumn or fall). Water warm enough to have legs free but air cool so super comfy. The rubber in arms makes for easy paddling and love the straight across chest zip = no feed fiddle required. Such a good suit.
This type of hybrid "schlongie" as we call them around here (cross between a shortie and a longie) is difficult to find. The only decent one I have ever had was from O'Neil. I like them because you can peel the top part off to the waist and it swim in it. Just the right amount of coverage and thickness for Florida and warmer climates. Anything thicker than 2mm and it's only good for really cold water. Would highly recommend it. The last one I bought was over 10 years ago from O'Neil and it is still wearable though somewhat faded now.
I have the heavier long-sleeved version of this suit that requires you to enter through the neck-hole. It absolutely amazes me how stretchy the new rubber materials are. This thinner short-sleeve version is even more comfortable and flexible. The construction at the seams is far better than a lot of suits I have owned. I use it in the Columbia River kitesurfing. When transitioning from winter temps to summer I put a 1mm farmer-john style short leg singlet under it for a bit more core warmth. The stretch of the suit easily accommodates that extra layer. The woven exterior wears well, but it does take a lot longer to dry than the slick wind-skin of my prior suit. But I kept having to glue small nicks and tears on the wind skin and that does not happen with this suit.
