No complaints about the Prizm lens but the framework holding them on one's face is a total disaster. As other reviewers correctly noted, all the little plastic pieces that snap in place simply don't work very well from the get go and are clearly prone to complete failure over time. In my case, one of them failed right out of the box. Little plastic retaining clips at the temple tip are supposed to secure a wire leash that goes around the back of the neck. One clip had already fallen off when I opened the box. I looped the wire leash over its little hook and re-attached the retaining clip, but it never felt completely secure. I went for a test ride at my local ski hill and the clip fell off. Without the clip, the hook can't secure the wire leash. Worse, without the clip in place the hook grabbed at my hair making it hard to remove the glasses. Even the side shields were problematic as they do not readily snap into place and were a source of growing frustration. I really wanted to like these because I've had success with some Oakley products in the past but these were a complete failure.

Purchased primarily for use in my full face motorcycle helmet. You know how some shades have odd pressure points or fit weirdly within your helmet? Not these! They slide into place over my ears with no discomfort. The polarizing is good without distorting the road or speedometer glass. Maybe that’s just a me thing because my wife has no idea what I am talking about. They provide wind protection even with the helmet face shield up. Highly recommend. I saw Bradley Wiggins wearing them in his motorcycle helmet during the Giro d’Italia bike race and I so wanted be as cool as him. Job done.

I’m photophobic and work outside in the mountains year round. I got these with Rx and they are the best glasses I’ve ever owned. The side shields are the best design ever produced for glacier goggles IMO and they easily fold away when putting away in included high quality case, and snap into place when open. I’ve taken them off in the forest when shady during mid day. Works great. I got polarized black iridium and they are magnificent for driving. My eyes fully relax outside and my migraines have subsided quite a bit. I have a 8” head and a oval face and I thought they would be too small but they fit great.

I want to like the Clifden glasses but they have a lot of things going against them:- The side shields are made of soft touch plastic using a tiny little plastic hinge. One of my sideshields broke after 2 months of weekend use. Replacements are expensive at over $30 for new shields!- The temples are riveted, not screwed, to the rim. If the temples ever break, replacement may not even be possible.- The temple tips stick back quite far, and hats will interfere with them. If you have a strong prescription this can be not great.- The temple tip strap clips feel incredibly cheap and seem more likely to break than the side shields. I do not recommend unclipping and reclipping the strap -- if you plan to use the strap, plan to keep it attached 100% of the time. If the strap clips break, you cannot replace the part (and probably cannot replace the temple, see above), so the glasses may have to be thrown away.I'd look elsewhere for glacier glasses. Julbo perhaps.
This is my 2nd pair of Clifden frames.56mm lens yet fits a small-ish face. Lens actually appears mirrored but has a pink (warm) color-contrast optical formula on the grey (neutral) base-tint for an absolutely gorgeous rendition of the scene.Fogs up less than my vintage Vuarnet 028 glacier glasses because the lens is situated farther from the eye. Lens is very dark (category 4) transmitting only 5.5% of light for use in bright sunny or specular surroundings (lots of concrete, sea or snow).A more "recreational" light transmission spec would be around 11~14%, but this "signature" model was designed for a competitive snow-boarding athlete.Temple shields and bridge insert very easy to remove and replace. Got these in prescription with emerald green polarized lenses this past winter. The color combination looks great. Field of vision with the big round lenses is amazing (as long as you're looking forward), and the removable bridge/side shields are a huge bonus especially when you need your peripheral vision for things like driving in heavy traffic. The side shields can be squished a little vertically, and they go in/out of the glasses really easy. I see one comment about them being difficult to snap into place (for wearing) when the frames are open, but there's a sweet spot close to the lenses where if you push, the shield snaps to the frame pretty easy. They collapse relatively easily when you close the temples. They collapse relatively easily when you close the temples. I have some minor concerns about the frames staying on my face when it starts getting warmer (sweating more + water activities but maybe I just need other frames for those) since the finish on the temples is the same gloss plastic as the frames (as much Unobtanium these frames come with, I'm not sure why they neglected the temples). They don't have Unobtanium at the contact points, and don't have much of a downward curve at the ears, but I'm not too worried. Would buy again.
These glasses are marketed as mountaineering glasses, but I found these also to be great on the water. Large polarized lenses offer great protection and reduce glare off the water. Blinders and nose bridge offer some protection from water spray getting into my eyes. Also love the integrated neck strap in case the glasses go overboard. The blinders engage into place easily with a snap, but need to be a little careful when disengaging to avoid breaking them. The blinders need to be disengaged when folding the arms down for storage back in the case. All in all a solid pair of sport glasses.
I love these. I am female with a big head but a narrow face and they stay put. They are the only sunglasses that I have found that I can wear in bright light and not squint at all. I am sensitive to the sun but love being outside and live at altitude and these are the solution. They don’t look as nice (normal) as other glasses but they work excellent. I have played with my kids, cross country skied, run, hiked and done yard work in these. I do drive in them too, although cautiously as peripheral vision is lost by the side panels. Side panels are easily removed however I have yet to take the time to remove since I would just be putting them back on to get out of the car. My first pair broke but I was wearing them in freezing temperatures and tried to fold them up. The side piece pin broke off. I returned to Nordstrom and bought a new pair (with my prescription) from Oakley so if it happens again they can replace the piece rather than the entire glass. My husband liked the feeling and performance of these glasses so much he got a pair too.
I'm not sure what the reviewers did to their glasses. I climb, hike and cycle in mine, of course I handle them with care and I've had glasses for 40 years. I have yet to hear of an indestructible pair. That said I quit using the leash, as I bought the Oakley prescription lenses, and can't see if they were hung around my neck. I love them so much, I just ordered a pair of lenses that transition from 10% black to CAT3. These glasses are very light. The rubber on the nose keeps them up even when sweating. I wish my daily glasses had these qualities. I only have 1 con, they look very "Sporty" for hanging around town. My eyes feel calm behind the lenses and protected from the shields.
