Oculus Quest 2 - Advanced All-in-One Virtual Reality Headset - 128 GB (Renewed Premium)

This is my first and only VR experience. With that said, in just the first few minutes, during the setup and updating process, my mouth was agape. The tutorial had me smiling in wonder at the feeling of immersion. The apps available natively to the Quest 2 are varied and fun, if not cheap, but there are demos and free games out there. Google Earth VR, a free app that isn't on the Quest natively is, for me, worth the price of admission on its own. Being able to walk among the skyscrapers of NYC, or play Gojira in Tokyo is awe inspiring.A couple of minor cons: Battery life is poor. During our first days, when we were using it especially heavily, I had a battery pack and USB-C cable connected to the Quest that we'd swap into pockets to add play time. They make improved head-strap setups that include provisions for holding a battery.About that strap, some in my family complained about it, so we may be shopping for an upgrade. I can live with it, however.In low light, the guardian, the virtual barrier that is set to keep you from running into walls, can flake out, dropping you out of the game.And lastly, a big con for some folks: This requires an active, real, Facebook account. Deactivating your account deactivates your Quest. Deleting you account deletes, permanently, all of your purchased apps, with no refund. There are lots of reports regarding problems with folks using fake names, secondary accounts, other folk's accounts, etc. When there are problems, Facebook will delete or lock accounts, and render your Quest a brick. Customer service is reportedly horrendous when trying to fix these problems. My advice would be to use your real account, don't fudge around, and you should be fine. Yes, they are tracking you, Yes they are subsidizing the prices of these thing by commodifying your data. However, unless you are already complete social media hermit, getting in bed a little deeper isn't going to alter your data footprint in any significant way. If you are here shopping on Amazon with a cellphone in your hand or pocket, worrying about Facebook is sort of pointless.TL;DR - GET ONE. It's a great value within the reach of many people. You can have a ton of fun without a PC, and even more with one.

Mixed feelings about the system. Battery dies way too fast , games and “experiences” seem to be limited…. same game vendetta basically as others in the past, not much variety in my opinion…. how many shooter/zombie/end of times rpg’s are there ? I have found that also (I’m not sure if it’s the weight ) it’s headset is heavy and I get headaches fast almost like straining from holding it up ? I don’t know but my eye lense space setting is really between 2 of them so I kinda have to pick out of 2 where neither are right..::setting that’s too close together , or too far apart which makes it blurry and hard to see. I have noticed a lot of crashing in the games and library/store/browsers …… everywhere there’s not enough security or settings or restrictions on here and ... MoreMixed feelings about the system. You never know if your 8 year old daughter is in the other room talking to a 25 year old …. Or if your 10-year-old son is watching adult content in vr browser…or being involved in convo about drugs or violence or bullying with other kids they normally wouldn’t come In contact with…the whole meta universe thing ..it’s a random quickly and loosely put together concept it has a lot of room for improvement and needs to make a lot more security options for the younger people on VR as well as actual limits from keeping kids out of things they shouldn’t really be into. Consequences, bans etc. Some of the games have great graphics though this whole review isn’t negative.Lol. Also, some of the little documentary things are very captivating. I wish that I would have bought a higher memory for storage capability, and I wish that I would have gotten the extra battery strap because I really don’t like how fast the thing dies. I would request also more games for younger, and also older VR users, and something new not just like every other game that gets released. I’m really getting bored with all these storylines as well as paying $30-$60 for a game and then going to go play it and it being a let down …the trailer was practically longer than the actual game ..:.a super short game without a lot of depth just really basic and disappointing. Lots of hype. There’s a lot of creativity apps on there that would theoretically be a good idea if they worked, but the majority of the things I have tried out end up crashing. Have a feeling this is gonna end up being a dust collector if they don’t make some serious changes. But hey they tried gotta give them that.

My son is much younger than the " suggested" age, but he is very easily bored and actually requires more challenging mental stimulation to keep from getting into mischief. I wanted to add more physical movement to his gaming, since its not like the 'go outside and play' era since no other kids are outside. It lets him still interact with actual people and burn off energy he had been having more mood swings from the lack of movement, I noticed a huge difference from. I love watching him move and get a kick out of how much he truly has mastered some of the games. I am getting his controllers and the entire thing fixed and in wirking order. He had NO ISSUES until one controller stopped holding any charge at all after about 7 months of hard core use. The games are affordable in comparison to the newest console that he also has. He has consistently used this over the PS model of VR. This is the future of more than gaming, its totally mind blowing and truly requires some skill and I can see myself becoming a fan or user myself if I can pry it from his head! It dies require arm room and it was a real battle when he had only tge living room as a space to use it...the punches we often were jabbed with, the heads up we are passing.. and dodging was definitely memorable..if not nuisance to his great grandmother. Funny thing is since its been in need if repair, she has been asking to get it fixed fir him because of the huge difference in how much his mood was improved with the use. You do require a facebook account, but that is because of the digital gaming aspect and I imagine to keep your purchases and other info for the right purposes. No different than any type of product with cloud capabilities. This is totally freestanding and you dont have to stand in front of a console or a camera to use it. There are no physical games, its all virtual. This will wear you out, and its limits are yet to be seen.
