Amazing shoes for travelling

I brought these shoes along for 7 weeks of travelling in Europe. Every day we walked roughly 10km and they were perfect. The cushioning was excellent the whole time, preventing any foot or ankle ache. They are also extremely lightweight and breathable. Even on hot days they didn’t get sweaty or uncomfortable. The ankle strap is useful for quickly slipping them on and is very strong and durable. Definitely recommend these.

Best shoe I've ever worn, and my feet can finally breathe!

I noticed the most popular review that's negative that states issues that I did have in the beginning when I first started wearing the shoe but overtime once material is worn in or washed a bit. You don't have the same issues I would wear certain thickness and length of sock to prevent the sock from being pulled down and causing blisters and chafing on my heel and it helped a lot. And I'm really glad I kept the shoes and gave it a shot because they are extremely comfortable to the point where I don't even wear socks sometimes not by choice but because I don't always have time to put on socks when I arrive at work in a hurry. I work at a dog grooming salon and I'm constantly moving around bathing and picking up dogs and moving them around and these shoes are my staple while working, they feel great. As far as the shoe being narrow and the sizing to be weird I don't see that issue at all with my feet but we all have different size feet so maybe I just have a narrow foot and a certain size foot, where this shoe complements it perfectly. I do have to point out that the fabric gives a good amount of stretch so I feel it would mold to any kind of foot, but again everybody has a preference. Best shoes I've ever worn and I must say my feet can finally breathe and not feel constricted by the materials. I love how eco-friendly these shoes are and so glad for some good sales on them.

Comfortable, but flawed

Really comfortable underfoot, certainly more so than the Ultrarange Exo. But I do get the impression that the sole won't last as long. But there are a couple of major drawbacks here. The first being the heel-slippage. This isn't due to random sizing either, the sizing feels identical, but my heel just doesn't feel secure whatsoever. This could be due to the sock style fit which has no padding, I love this, but it doesn't work anywhere near as good as old Ultrarange AC's.The material and texture of the upper is, in my eyes, pretty terrible. No idea what they were thinking here, reminds me of a string vest.Overall, huge improvements to the sole, and the sock style fit, but let down by heel slippage and material.

Love hate

Style wise these shoes are awesome. Fit wise, beware if you have a wide foot. I find the shoes to be more narrow than normal all around not just in the toe box area. I like the insole it is comfortable for walking but they are too narrow that they make my feet ache. Also the knitter material of the shoe makes my socks go down some times and it makes my feet hot. The fabric seems sturdy though. I've worn them about 10 times walking my dog and hoping too get them conform better to my feet. Again I love the look and insole but wish they were wider. I'd try these on before purchasing online if you can.

My Favorite Shoes
11 June 2024

I have tried all the Ultrarange collection. I started with the EXOs and bought multiple pairs. I loved the comfort and the sole of the shoe was perfect. Super soft for daily wear but also supportive to be active. I found the EXOs wore out quickly, barely making it 3 months with daily wear. And the EXOs material was kind of rigid in places that made them bend weird when walking.Due to the recycled nature and the material being all a soft fabric, I was worried the VR3s would be unsupportive and wear out even more quickly but I gave them a try because the core of the Ultrarange shoe model is so comfortable. I have had 2 pairs of these and both have yet to be worn out after over 6 months of daily wear each!I have tried the NEO Ultrarange shoes as well, and they are even more comfortable than the VR3s but provide a little too much shoe. Like I can notice I am wearing them. The VR3s have the perfect balance for me and make me forget I am even wearing shows.VANS, please make more color options available of the VR3s. They are the best version of the Ultrarange series.

My new favorite shoes
18 November 2023

I've got several really good shoes in my closet but these are my new favorites. Definitely not like any of the other Vans I've got, but that's kinda the point. The stretchy knit upper is super comfy and so easy to slip on and off. The sole is probably one of the most comfortable I've got, but I have noticed that this tends to be a personal thing and sometimes shoes poeple say are really comfy are shoes I find hurt my feet a lot, so take that FWIW. My shoe test is a day at Disneyland: If my feet don't hurt after all that walking and standing in line, then the shoe is a winner. Not a lot of shoes pass this test, but these VR3s did with flying colors. I'm really happy with these and will likely get another pair.My one grip would be what might actually be a slight ... MoreI've got several really good shoes in my closet but these are my new favorites. I'm really happy with these and will likely get another pair.My one grip would be what might actually be a slight manufacturing defect: the top most part of the heel on my right shoe tends to rub my achilles when walking and for a few days caused some soreness there until that little patch of skin toughened up and now its mostly all good. This would not be an issue if you wear taller socks. One quick note: these are not at all skate shoes. A couple of ollies and the uppers would probably be shredded. These are walking/running/fitness shoes.

Poor construction
26 January 2024

Comfortable shoe with great cushioning good for walking. However the construction is pretty poor. After six months of regular use, the stitching on one of the leather pieces with the lace eyeholes came undone. For this price I would expect much more durability. Luckily the shoe was determined to be still under warranty and Vans gave a gift card for the full purchase value. (I used it to buy the VR3 NEO, which already seems much more sturdy and durable.)

Satisfied purchase
3 February 2024

I was a little skeptical about a cork insert but the good reviews out weighed the negative and I was intrigued. Right out of the box they looked really nice. When I put them on they for like a glove. Hugged my feet nicely. I also bought an old school pair and sized those at a 6.5 men's/ 8 women's. But these I sized up to 7 men's/ 8.5 women's. I'm so glad I did. My old schools for great and me sizing up on these was beneficial. I saw most said run narrow and this .5 size up was perfect! I came in to buy another pair but my size is sold out! I have really bad back pain and these shoes did not give me any discomfort at all! Fit great right out of the box!!

Toebox FAIL!
11 January 2024

The toe box is too narrow, and in general the fit is slim. The girth of my foot isn't that wide, but even without an orthotic it's just too cramped up there. I took out the insole and put in my orthotics and it does NOT accommodate orthotics at all. The shoe became incredibly tight and there was no way it would break in. Can't wear with orthotics, can't wear without.Very sad, a friend of mine is on her second pair of these and I loved how soft the foam was. I really wish this worked out, that they had a wider/higher toe box and the heel were higher to allow for custom orthotics to be put in. Unfortunately my arch is so low that I need to wear my orthotics. So so...SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!. I wanted to give Vans my money and I love the style of these. Vans most comfortable shoe, ever
31 December 2022

When the ultrarange rapidweld first came out I bought a pair. I loved them so much, I bought several more pairs shortly after. Other people would comment on my shoes when I was wearing them, how they had some but they fell apart. I never had that problem, but it must have been a thing because vans started making different versions with different material. I bought different iterations of the ultrarange, like exo, and others, but none were ever as comfortable as rapidweld. Options in rapidweld pared back to just a few colors over time. Then, vr3 came out. These are the lightest shoe I've owned from vans and by far the most comfortable. I forget I even have shoes on, and in my opinion, that's how it should be. I can definitely say these are my favorite shoes I've ever owned from any brand.
