I had blonde hair when I was young, but it’s darkened to a light brown with brassy highlights as I’ve aged. Still, my hair has very much retained the structure of blonde hair and is really porous, fine, and prone to split ends on top of being curly. I decided to give 4P a try after reading that blonde hair that darkens with age happens in part due to a build up of brassiness. And, while the regular No. 4 added a lot of shine to my hair, I found that it was making certain sections of my hair brittle yet made my hair feel really weighed down and my scalp SUPER oily. Apparently blondes are susceptible to this issue if they use the regular No. 4 because it causes excess protein to buildup in the hair?I will say that my hair feels SO much lighter, softer, and less ... MoreI had blonde hair when I was young, but it’s darkened to a light brown with brassy highlights as I’ve aged. It also looks lighter somehow. However, because it’s not weighed down anymore, it’s made my hair quite poofy. I’m sure that this will resolve itself within a few hours after my hair’s natural oils work through my lengths, but still, it was nice to be able to essentially wash and go with the regular No. 4. Meanwhile, I suspect that I’ll have to use a small amount of No. 6 with 4P… I guess it’s a trade off.

I wrote a review two nights ago and confirmed via email that I indeed wrote the review. I looked on this site to see that my review was posted, it's nowhere to be found. Makes you wonder many other reviews are not being displayed. Also, very happy for this that had a great experience with this shampoo. I was not one of them unfortunately. This product ruined my hair. Half of my hair has fallen out and no, I'm not exaggerating. I am very fortunate that my hair was pretty thick before this happened, but the hair has fallen out at the top of my head. I'm terribly embarrassed with the thinning and terrified to wash my hair because of how brittle and damaged it is and how much my scalp burns. The hair fell out in clumps from the root. My hair was incredibly healthy before I used this. I used it 3 times. This is a very harsh product that should be used with extreme caution. Doesn't seem like it takes much to ruin hair. Again, very happy for those that this shampoo worked with and I hope none of you have any problems similar to mine or the other individuals who also wrote negative reviews.

So I have super bleached blonde hair that I recently dyed lavender. I bought this for when the color eventually washes out of my hair but decided to give it a try last night to see if it would add color to my already purple hair. I initially hated it because 1. There was absolutely no lather so I felt like I had to use more than what was needed and 2. My hands weee stained a dark purple. I left it on for about 5 min and followed up with the bond conditioner. I was afraid it was going to stain my bathtub but it washed off easily.I didn't see the results until this morning when I got up and dried my hair (I keep it wrapped up overnight and style in the morning) and was very pleasantly surprised! My color is still vibrant and my hair is soooo soft. I barely had to use my round brush with the blow dryer; it was silky and smooth with no frizz whatsoever, which is something I usually have to deal with. Not sure if that was the work of the shampoo, conditioner, or both. I read the bottle after my shower and realized that it said to pre-wash with the bond shampoo, so that's probably why there wasn't a whole lot of lather.Overall, I like it. Not sure how it works on blonde hair, so I'll have to try it when I go back to blonde, but will continue to use it for my purple hair. I knocked off one star due to it staining my hands so badly. I still have purple around and under my nails.
This toner was very hydrating. I have oily skin and my partner has dry. My face felt super hydrated after and had a complete glassy dewy skin look (cleanse>astringent toner>this toner>moisturizer), and my partner's skin was not as glassy, but the most dewy/glassy that I've ever seen it. Asian beauty fans with my skin type might really like the glassy look, but I toned it down a little bit on the moisturizer after and got a much more natural dewy look the next morning. Yes, there are products out there that will do much more than this, but for the price point it's pretty darn good. Anyone who has experience in facial hydration knows the texture it leaves on your skin; it's not supposed to feel like just water.
My natural color is medium brown with a bit of copper in it and I’m beginning to go gray. I stopped getting my roots touched up a few months ago because I want to figure out how to go gray gracefully. As my gray grows in, I am using root touch-up powder and recently, an overall spray-in lightener to bring out some of my highlights. I am pleased with the results of the spray lightener but it was turning my hair orange.I read reviews that this product works well on brunette hair, and since I am a big fan of Olaplex, I thought I’d give it a try. This was my first time, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. A lot of reviewers said to use gloves so I heeded their advice. I’ll add that the shampoo did not stain my tub. I started by shampooing with the No4, then the purple shampoo which I left on for the full five minutes, and finished with the No5 conditioner. I was worried that I would end up with dark brown hair, but that is not at all what happened. I still have medium brown hair with copper tones, I still have highlights, and I still have gray although it appears to be more blended in with my natural color. The big difference is that my hair is much brighter, more jewel-like in how shiny it is, and the orange is completely GONE. I’m thrilled with the results.
For me, this product is an absolute winner.I have ashy highlights which just love love love to go yellow on me.In one shampoo, leaving it on for just one minute, it toned them down. By the second, leaving it on for two minutes, they're almost perfect. Next time, I will leave it on for the full three minutes, but I preferred to go slowly just in case my results were not as expected. My highlights look so good, it looks as though I went to the salon and got them toned. I shampooed right before using it with Living Proof Restore, and then did a solid, good conditioning, my hair was left in great shape. It also lathered just fine. If you hair is full of silicone residue, then maybe this shampoo is not enough to remove it.If you are not used to a sulfate and silicone free shampoo, you may feel like your hair is straw, but honestly, it feels like many other sulfate and silicone free shampoos if you don't condition. If you want a conditioning type of product there are other purple shampoos and conditioners that promise more conditioning. I LIKE this one BECAUSE I can then continue to use my own conditioning regimen.Second, I wore gloves just to be sure the first time. No purple lingered on my hands at all, but, I was sure to rinse them off after applying and lathering and again after rinsing. No staining at allThird, was with any toning shampoo, I suggest starting slowly to see how your hair reacts. Those folks who left it on five or ten minutes the first time - well, you can't blame your oddball results when the instructions say leave on one to three minutes!
I had used the 3, 4, and 5 shampoo/conditioner for a few months alternating between my normal purple shampoo (surface) and another color safe shampoo. I bought this at my salon thinking it would be great for my hair since it was olaplex. I couldn't have been more wrong. Each time I get my hair lightened, I do an olaplex treatment. I've never had an issue before. I didn't catch the caution on the bottle because at a quick glance it looked like it was part of the ingredients list (poor placement). I used it once and noticed a bit of hair falling out. I told myself I had just left it on too long or it was shedding since I didn't brush my hair before getting in the shower. My scalp had zero irritation, so I didn't stop use. The next time I had literal clumps of hair. My scalp had zero irritation, so I didn't stop use. The next time I had literal clumps of hair. My skin on my scalp is still irritated almost two weeks later and I have lost HALF of my hair at the root!! I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. I'm terrified to shower or even wash my hair for risk of any more falling out. I'm blessed that I had really thick hair before this happened, but this purple shampoo is way too potent and I feel like I have a chemical burn on my scalp. Extremely disappointed and depressed with the hair loss.
I'm SO HAPPY I went through with buying this product. I was extremely hesitant after reading all the reviews about how it stained peoples hands/scalp, caused burns, and caused hair loss. The back of the bottle does recommend spot testing first to make sure you don't have a reaction, so if you're worried about that then definitely do a little test first. It did leave my hands a bit purple, but the purple washed off after the rest of my shower and it's definitely worth it for how good my hair looks now. I have not experienced any of the other symptoms, and this product has taken the gross yellow tone out of my bleached hair, and it looks like I just got it toned at the salon! It works great as a shampoo too, although I'm considering buying the No. 4 without toning for my scalp and saving the purple shampoo more for the lighter ends of my hair/using it as a weekly treatment for toning. Very happy with this purchase and absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to tone their bleached blonde!
