Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Face Cream Moisturiser, 50g

I have been using it for almost a month and although I only have very slight fine lines, I am noticing them diminished in appearance and the skin around my eyes looks a lot more plump. I have combo skin, more dry in the cooler months, and as such I found this to be a nice night cream for the current weather. I don't think I will like the thickness of the cream come the warmer months. However, I think those with dryer skin will love it. I don't love potted products, i prefer a pump but I will continue using it. My biggest issue with this product is the outer packaging. So much plastic!!!!! It really isn't necessary to have multiple layers of plastic. Hopefully they remedy this. I would recommend the product to family and friends, the price is low enough that I think its worth a shot.

But the most important consideration – does it perform? In a word - absolutely! This night moisturiser is awesome – with the texture of freshly whipped cream it is a dream to apply. Thick, but still light, only a small amount is needed to moisturize my whole face, and it feels wonderful on my skin – cool, hydrating and easily absorbed. At the same time my skin seems to have a protective layer. The real effect is found the next morning when I wake up to very soft and glowing skin. It’s great to see more products becoming fragrance-free and Olay have followed this trend, making their night cream safe for sensitive skin so it can be recommended for most people. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, but I have reacted to highly scented products in the past so unscented skin-care is always safest. It sounds like they have tried to eliminate some of the nasties (like sulphates) as well. I really can’t see any negatives to Regenerist night cream and think it would suit most people. Too soon to tell if this cream has reduced my fine lines, but my skin feels great, so off to a good start.

Since then, I always look to Olay whenever I am asked to recommend a budget eye cream. This Olay Retinol 24 Night Moisturiser certainly did not disappoint. I love a great user experience and I love its slightly whipped, luxurious texture which is thick but also light enough for instant absorption, with the cream disappear beautifully without too much effort to rub and massage. The product is fragrance free which ticks another box or me - not that I am sensitive to fragrance in general, but scent is such a subjective quality which can make or break. The Retinol 24 range contains Retinyl Propionate (a retinol ester) and also retinol as active ingredients. Also contained in the mix is niaccinamide which, from a brief search of academic research paper, works in synergy with retinyl propionate to improve the appearance of aging skin. Impressively, matrixyl is also included (albeit as the last ingredient) which has proven track record as a line-reduction ingredient. Since retinol can be a very powerful ingredient, the trial instruction is to start this slowly (2-3 times a week) and gradually build up skin tolerance. Luckily for me, no sensitivity is observed so far. That said, it is almost impossible to observe results from such a brief usage and haven't been using this daily. However, my skin is liking this night cream so far and I intend to build the usage up in the near future. I seldom give a full score based on a short usage, but the first impression has been very impressive.

I have cystic acne, and sensitive skin. My face can become disfigured from cysts and get incredibly painful. I started using this product over a year ago. Within the first use, my face was less oily by morning, and I felt dryer through out the day. With in a week, my acne was beginning to clear up, and new cysts seemed to be less intence. My scarring is reduced and skin tone is so much more even and fresh. My fine lines are visibly less noticeable, and my skin has a natural glow about it I'm 37 and often told I have skin of a 20 something yo. Although this isn't an acne treatment, it has helped a great deal in the condition of my skin, and I often get compliments. I still have breakouts but not like I used too.

However, even though I used it regularly as recommended during Summer, I did not get any reaction to it. I did wear SPF sunscreen during the day, but even with frequent periods of time outdoors, there was still no reaction !The cream is lightweight to apply and did not feel heavy on my skin. I woke up with my face feeling velvety smooth but was not greasy or causing breakouts. After using the Night Cream for several months now, my skin texture is definitely smoother and the tone is more even. Packaging this 50g jar in a box more than double its size is misleading (even with the 'Actual Size' on side of package). Environmentally very wasteful, and shows how out of touch you are with such issues. The actual jar is beautiful, more like a work of art, but again wasteful. I would rather you saved money on both jar and box, and offered either/both a larger jar or lower cost. In the long run you would make more money.

This Olay retinol 24 night cream fell into the doesn’t work for me category unfortunately. The smell first off, I thought was simply awful, it claims to be fragrance free but I’m really sensitive to smell in beauty products and I couldn’t get past this particular one. It was rich and creamy and absorbed straight away and I love the cute purple packaging but that’s where the love ends. I found the first 3 days using consecutively at night I had fabulous results. The skin in my eye area looked rested, softened and brighter, unfortunately though after a few days I started to experience the dreaded retinol effects. I had to cut back application of the eye cream to twice a week only as it caused extreme sensitivity, stinging and a feeling like the skin around my eyes was severely sunburnt which is pretty normal with a retinol, though I’m interested to know the exact strength of this one as it’s not mentioned. I think this eye cream will absolutely produce effective results with its inclusion of retinol but you definitely need to slowly introduce the cream to your routine (unless of course your skin isn’t delicate like mine). I will be continuing to use this eye cream as I’m retinol obsessed and love the idea of preventing wrinkles around my eye area.

I have used Olay creams for 25 years, never a problem until I switched to this new retinol moisturizer. I applied every night for about a week with no issues until I applied sunscreen in the morning. My whole face was burning so I washed off the sunscreen thinking that was the colprit. Skin settled after 15 mins so thinking it was the sunscreen I continued using my Olay retinol nightly for about a week. Getting ready for a night out I applied a heavy long lasting foundation and again instantly the burning skin returns. I have been using this foundation for 10+ years so knew it wasn’t that and also I hadn’t used that sunscreen. The only thing I had changed in my skin routine was the new Olay retinol moisturizer so I have stopped using it.
