Old El Paso Tortilla Nachips, 185g

These are ok. Taste a bit stale or at minimum, different from Tostito chips. Prefer Tostito over these.

Good all round.

Light and crisp, yet substantial enough to be a filling snack. Nice neutral earthy flavour, doesn't taste stale. Salted enough to be interesting, but still subtle and balanced. They even look nice with the sunny golden colour. They've been a lifesaver whilst I'm on a very strict diet for medical reasons.

Good price\/taste ratio

Got these with a coupon, and they are good. Not too salty, not too many broken at bottom of bag. Can hold up dip just fine. If you get these on sale ?1 a bag is a great price. Not the same as Cantina style tortilla chips, but very good value for price.

Great

These are great, nice and crunchy and great taste. Works better than normal tortilla chips as can scoop up more toppings. Lovely :)

I wasnt expecting much...

...bought on offer, and I was surprised! Salty in the right way, crunchy texture that doesnt veer towards crumbly but isnt soft either. Good shape (unless you need to get into corners, I just snap them in half). Excellent overall flavour Ive already reordered.

NOT GLUTEN FREE.

The blue 'gluten free' logo has been removed from the front of the bag,and it no longer says gluten free anywhere on the packaging. The picture and description need urgently amending,as they could make someone with coeliac disease seriously ill. I also noted that the sunflower oil in the ingredients list on the packaging no longer says 'high oleic',it just says sunflower oil. Looks like another case of cutting corners at the expense of product quality,unfortunately.

Not The Best

Surprisingly hard and lacks the wiling snap I'd except. Very much more on the crunchy side. Also unseasoned,which you may or may not want.

One of the better versions

I've been buying the things Old El Paso sells as Nachips for a long, long time and I reckon the recipe has changed several times. The very first version I tried was my favourite; lighter coloured, finer milled and a bit saltier than the current variant. Unfortunately, that was decades ago, and was replaced by a horrible product that disintegrated into mush if used in nacho-style recipes. The recipe they're using in mid-2023 is somewhere between the two, towards the better end of the continuum.

Too thick and very salty

I usually buy Doritos or Waitrose own salted tortilla chips for nachos, but received these free with the purchase of a fajita kit. For one, I like my tortilla chips to be triangular, not all round and uniform. These have a very dense consistency, very thick and found them far too salty. Not sure why all the great reviews. I wont be buying these again
