I'd read the reviews of this lens that said it was sharp, but even expecting it to be good I was super impressed. Even with the 1.4x teleconverter the image seems to be razor sharp. Coming from an APS-C DSLR it's obviously not as good bokeh with (f5.6 equivalent wide open, f8 with the teleconverter) but with a bit of distance between subject and background it's capable of beautiful shots, foreground and background. Love it, love it, love it. Oh, and did I mention that it weighs less than half of my 300mm f4 prime lens on my old DSLR but is sharper and faster to focus?

This lens is so amazing. it has such a great feel to it. with any other camera company this lens would be double the price. for the mm range it has. the images look so coloured in this I mean that the colour in the image when you look at it seems to jump out its like the item is real and right in front of you. I seem to have moved to using this lens the most when using my EM1 MK2. If you can get this lens for 750 pound used it is so uch worth it

Pros: This is one razor sharp (even with the teleconverter attached), fast focussing lens that is a good all rounder for wildlife, landscape, street, people and close up photography. I just love this lens and images are sharp at both ends of the focal length ranges. I've also invested in a 2 x teleconverter which works perfectly and turns this into a 300mm lens. It's quite a lot heavier than my other lenses, but then that's what I would expect. It's well made and splash proof so you don't have to worry too much about the weather. All in all a nifty bit of kit
Fantastic lens from Olympus extremely lightweight and excellent build quality. The images produced by this lens attached to my Olympus OMD EM1 are amazing vibrant colours and very sharp. Although I have had this lens for just over a week I am very happy with the purchase and the Olympus MC-14 Teleconverter that was bought with the lens is great just gives you that extra reach but without losing any image quality.
The whole point of micro four thirds cameras is the small size. This lens is big, not far off the size of a Canon 70-200mm f4, but not nearly as heavy. So, what about the good points? It is incredibly sharp, as sharp as a prime lens, if not sharper. The image quality has to be seen to be believed. It has a reasonably fast f2.8 aperture. And the autofocus is incredibly fast - feels on a par with a Canon DSLR, and it has instant manual focus by pulling the focus ring toward you. Did I say it was big and heavy? Who cares once you see the image quality and experience how great it is to shoot with.
The very first aspect of this lens is the superb built quality, it feels and looks like a quality bit of gear. Secondly, its tack sharp right through the range even at f2.8. Thirdly, autofocus is quick responsive even on my Panasonic GH5. Definitely a serious lens for a serious photographer/videographer. 10/10
This is the second time Ive bought this lens; its a long story. Its an outstanding lens, fast, bright and sharp and produces beautiful images. The combination of this lens with the 12-40 f2.8 and my E-M1 Mk iii provides a relatively light weight kit that I can easily carry anywhere. Add the 2x teleconverter and you have the equivalent FOV of a 300mm full frame lens at a fraction of the cost and weight. This glass does everything right!
I'd heard and read much about this lens and finally got around to purchasing one last month. I prefer to use lenses wide-open for most of my work (my style) and this one is hyper sharp at f2.8. It's as sharp as the m.zuiko 75mm f1.8 and 45mm f1.8 primes, so apart from a smidgen more 'bokeh' on the primes, there isn't really any need to carry them. The included hood is problematic for some people, but I find it convenient and simple to use. It just twists and retracts when stored - it does however make the zoom ring inaccessible in use, so you are forced to extend it; but then why wouldn't you? In summary, I would have to say it the best lens for m4/3 that I've ever owned. (The 25mm f1.2 m.zuiko Pro being the second).
This lens looks and feels fantastic, absolute perfection weather sealed professional solid body with a neatly designed hood. The focusing is pin sharp instantly, great lens for any wedding or wildlife photographer. I use this lens on my EM1 and it was made for it as long as you have a grip attached to the camera as well, it just allows that grip needed to support it. It has a minimum focus distance of just 70cm at all focal lengths & ultra-quiet operation. This lens is the best and worth the money.
