It is worth every penny! It is a nearly perfect match for my OM-D EM-5. The lens is practically all metal and very, very solidly built. With an equivalent focal length of 28 to 300 mm in 35mm parlance, the lens can cover nearly all the needs of the average photographer. Optically it is very sharp in the wide-angle and normal range but quite less in the telephoto ranges, especially in the 200 to 300mm range. Some lateral color is evident in the telephoto range around brightly lit and shiny subjects. Overall the color rendition is exquisite, probably thanks to the use of lenses with aspherical surfaces and a very accurate mutlicoating process. I purchased this lens based on all of the positive reviews relating to the previous version of this lens which is apparently the same. I was surprised at how flimsy it felt at first but wanted to be fair and test it before actually using it for my paid video work. During testing, I discovered it will not hold an F stop throughout its entire range. My Panasonic GH5 is always set to full manual and, in bright sunlight, I set this lens to F8. The F stop should not change throughout its zoom range at any F stop 5.6 and up. When I zoom in full telephoto, the picture goes dark as if the exposure is changed. Defective lens? I don't want to chance it for paying gigs.

Its weather sealing makes it ideal for kayaking and taking photos in inclement weather. Its lens hood does a good job of protecting the lens from both sun and mist & spray. This lens paired with my OM-D E-M5 and its 5-axis stabilization along with the ability to boost the ISO a bit, takes good pictures at dawn and dusk. Bought this lens to use during my travels when i want to go lightweight. Image quality is OK if there is enough light and in general i am very pleased with its performance.What bothered me the most was its fragile design: the metal bayonet is connected to a plastic body with 4 tiny screws. My lens almost lost its bayonet after a small drop of a camera bag from hips height (while attached to a camera). First I want to mention that I have both the 12-40 f2.8 & 40-150 f2.8 & these are truly superb lenses but in some circumstances more than you want to take with you. I did a shoot on Sat with the 14-150 on a ship where I needed to be very mobile & would be climbing ships ladders & walking through narrow passageways. This lens was a pleasure to use & the results were excellent. To clarify I was not shooting in natural light for the most part & I had a battery flash on a light stand with a modifier & put the final selected images through DXO. DXO was only used for lens correction & sharpening but the results were great. Prior to this I used the lens as a walk around to get a feel for the lens & it was so convenient to have an all in one lens. I recently returned from ... For travel, everyday, and goof-off shooting, I typically carry a do-it-all lens and a fast normal for low light. Most of my shooting is outdoors (so good light) between 17-70mm (35-140 35mm equivalent) stopped down 1-2 stops at the lowest ISO I can. So far, I'm very pleased with the images from this lens under those conditions. Seems sharp across that range. There is some light fall-off in the corners shot wide open, but that rapidly diminishes as the lens is stopped down. Very light and compact. Zoom is smooth and has no loose feel. AF is fast. Overall, very pleased with this lens. It is mounted on an Olympus e-pl6 and is not overly large or heavy for that camera. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on my Olympus e-pm1 which is a slightly smaller and lighter body.

Does this lens measure up to the Pro series, no not really and it can't. The glass and build quality are not at that level. But at this price point, it is a great compromise. The 14mm to 150mm range is great for travel when carrying multiple lens is not an option. The weather proofing is a huge plus. The weight savings from carrying the 12-40 f2.8 Pro and 40-150 f2.8 Pro is substantial. The drawback is going to a f4-5.6 from the f2.8 Pros. You need good light. I use this lens with my Olympus OMD EM10. Last summer in Glacier National Park I was going back and forth between shooting landscapes versus wild life with the 12- 40 and the 40 to 150 lenses, and missing some shots. I heard about the forthcoming 14 to 150 len. It has a very professional feel and the photos seem very good and sharp from out to 125mm. More important perhaps, it handles well and body+lens+strap comes in at less than a 1 lb 10 oz. I formerly used a Canon DSLR with the 100-400 L lens. Carrying the whole package was awful on my back. Consequently I stopped carrying the lens altogether! This new Micro 4/3 set up is a delight for travel. I will be using it with the Olympus 25mm 1.4
Considering this lens falls into the all in one lens category, this is an excellent lens. Solid construction for this type of lens. I purchased this lens for my E-M5ll. I already have the 12-40 2.8 Pro and the 40-150 2.8 Pro and both are outstanding lenses and this lens exceeded my expectations for an all in one. There is a little purple fringing in high contrast areas, but it's very minor when looking at magnified raw files. It has full time manual focus override, but no clutch like the Pro lenses.
