Had to back off on my training to cure sacroillitis in both hips, but was looking for a transition shoe to help me get back up and moving again.Needed max cushioning to control discomfort and tried Hoka Clifton first. Loved the wide stance, and soft plush ride but it was too mushy. Full disclosure... there was also a vanity element to ditching the Clifton... to my observation, it has become the unofficial footwear choice of senior citizens. Within 24 hours my pain symptoms disappeared and I was back on the roads... at a much slower pace than usual, but moving forward.My one complaint/observation is that if a product is going to carry a premium price, there is no excuse not to use premium materials. Please upgrade the sockliner to ortholite. I pulled, trimmed and replaced the original with the Clifton sockliner and it made a notable difference on step in feel.I have a few other pair of On shoes that I wear strictly wear just for casual, but the cloud monster if finally the first On product that I can actually run in. I strongly recommend this product and look forward to some productive miles to come.

Perhaps if On used thicker, more resilient material for their outsoles, their shoes would last a little longer and rack up more miles before they fail, as all running shoes do.In summary, the On Cloudmonster are stylish and comfortable running shoes that look good, feel good and are bound to make many runners go the extra mile. Unfortunately, for the heavier runners among us, they may not hold up for as much as you'd expect, given their price tag.††For lighter weight runners, your mileage may vary.

I have previously worn Hoka Bondi 4's and 7's for running/road work, and had gone to REI for a pair of 8's, all sold out, so I started trying on lots of running shoes and brands, going for what fit right and 'felt' the best for me. I tried on a pair of the ON Cloudmonsters and knew right away that they would work for my foot (wide forefoot, regular heel and semi-high arch). Beautifully light in weight, the uppers are awesome at wicking away moisture and heat, the soles are densely cushioned and stable without ever being mushy. They are rockered somewhat, and have that propel-you-into-your-stride feel, a functionally great design. They are wide enough even with an 11 regular, there is no side-to-side movement, the flat laces and minimalist tongue hold the foot snugly ... - Large amount of cushion for the heel and the midsole- Kink in the midsole making the forward rolling characteristic very noticeable- Great for easy runs, recovery runs and walking long distances- Tough to pick up pace as shoe is less responsive- The upper of the shoe creases and folds while using it, taking away from its aesthetic- Also, the upper was less snug than I preferred.- I felt my foot had a decent amount of room to move around in the shoe, which I personally do not like- Due to the excess room in the shoe, walking downhill would make me feel unstable as my foot would slide around in the shoe- Was not too comfortable using these shoes while running on the treadmill. Had to run slower than my actual pace to ensure safety

I'm a big fan of On Cloud, so I was a little skeptical about the On CloudMonster as their shoes, at least the ones that I run in, tend to be more on the minimal side. Enough said, I love the On CloudMonsters. They provide cushion, yet still provide feedback on your run, good spring and everything else you have come to love about On shoes. And while a fully cushioned shoe, they do not feel heavy. An I usually run in the On CloudFlow and the On Cloud EchoBoom. If you want cushioning but that same On Cloud feel, get these, your feet will thank you. FYI, I have been a long time user of On Clouds and this is my first ever review.

I did 3 5k runs in these, and my reaction each time was the same: they feel dead. I felt like I was doing extra work on each stride -- surprising, considering how light they are. Now, I'm not one to get too hung up on "energy return" and similar buzzwords, but I just never felt like these shoes were really helping to propel me forward, and as each run went on, the deadness progressively killed my motivation.So, despite really liking the comfort and aesthetics of this shoe, I returned them after a week, and went back to Clifton 9s. They may not look as good as the Cloudmonsters, but for my intended use as a daily running shoe, the Hokas continue to perform reliably for me.

I recently purchased a pair of On Cloudmonster shoes, and I must say they have exceeded my expectations. These shoes offer exceptional support and comfort. The level of cushioning is amazing, providing a plush feel with each step. I appreciate how well they adapt to my feet, ensuring a snug fit without any discomfort. Whether I'm walking or running, the Cloudmonster shoes provide the right balance of stability and flexibility. Overall, I highly recommend these shoes for anyone seeking excellent support and comfort in their footwear. I would also get a size up ½ size from your regular shoe size.

Yes, I threw out the rulebook on this ON model. The truth is after a 5K shakeout of this shoe during a demo run I knew it would be a go to shoe for a marathon the following week. The shoe performed up to the expectations. I had less hip fatigue, no issue adjusting to the extra stack height, and the energy return I wanted after mile 18 was present. Big game changer. I run in a 4mm drop road shoe normally and this plush bed did not require much adjustment. On seems to have reimagined the performance of Helion since this shoe did not feel rigid I felt like I was bounding w/o needing to change my stride. I ran downhills with ease and the outsole was nimble and felt secure. No rain or slickness so I cant speak to that condition yet. The upper was fine, breathable etc. I ... But because the outside temp.s were in the 60's it factored in to this too. When in gets humid and in the 80's that will be the real test of the upper. My heel was rock solid no fit issues in the width or instep. Definitely a shoe for runs in the 3 hour plus range for me. I will always rotate through different shoes (Newton BOCO AT, Newton Fate, Hoka Mafate, Atreyu) and now add this to the mix. I prefer feel over float but this On is on the top of my list because right out of the gate my reaction was "Wow, this is a comfortable shoe."

This is the best ON shoe in a long time. Great roll through your gait, good cushioning, very stable and has a good range for training. I take these on my long easy runs, but, I also use them on my tempo runs. These shoes have a good range from 8 min mile to 6 min mile. I would go to your regular size on these. With the limited upper use a runner's knot for good lock down. I also use thicker socks as the tongue is very minimal. But, I rotate 3 pair and have had one pair last to 500mi. It seems they changed the heel cup a bit, the older version was a bit lower on the sides and seemed more cushioned, the newer models rub me a bit on my bony ankles. But, they are my go to shoes up to 18 mi. I'm a midfoot striker running about 38 miles a week currently.
