onn. Google TV Full HD Streaming Device (New, 2023)

First time purchasing this brand of a device. I absolutely love the charging products from this brand. I’m usually a Roku person, I have had multiple streaming devices and sticks but the Onn brand will sit very closely to my Roku when it comes to favorites. Roku is awesome and I have nothing bad to say as well as this Onn product. I love the easiness of slinging to the Tv with no added apps as well as the ease of logging in streaming networks. The already included apps are phenomenal. I can watch live TV without signing in as well as those I do. The remote is amazing and has voice recognition that actually works and volume control, not to mention the batteries are included and the pairing takes like 2 seconds. Bad/non-existent customer service

I bought four of these TV sticks late last year and was told that they would be a new firmware in December. The firmware has never been released. It was supposed to correct a screen position issue.The problem is the screen from the stick is too large for the TV display. The old versions of the on TV stick used to allow you to zoom in and zoom out. The new versions don't allow this. If they automatically resized the screen properly this wouldn't be a problem. But even the manual resizing is now gone and there's no way to prevent the screen from exceeding the display size of the TV. This is a rare gem of a find indeed! It appears to be one of those bargain barrel-Walmart-generic find. What you actually get is a genuine Google streaming device! I was on the fence for NOTHING! Curses!If you have a non smart TV of yore, sans remote, this is the streaming device for you! It is a universal remote, too! Make sure your TV, at least, is HDMI capable. Otherwise, you'll need an HDMI converter. Most Walmarts do sell an HDMI converter of some sort.The set up interface is extremely user friendly. Though, I do caution that all functions for the actual TV may not be accessible via the universal remote feature. I like the onn Google TV!

The onn Google tv works as it should, but it required downloading a new app, answering a million questions, device software updates lasting over 30 minutes, pairing the remote - I mean come on man, how is the remote not already paired to the device?!!, account verifications, blah, blah, blah. Apologies for the Amazon rant, let me go back to the onn review!I do like that the onn paired automatically with my tv so I didn’t have to deal with that and u can control the input, volume, and tv power with one remote. But it’s like the tv power and device power aren’t in sync because when u hit the power button the tv turns on but I get a “no signal” message on the screen. The device doesn’t turn on until I hit the home button. It’s not that big of a deal to me but I was surprised that the tech is either antiquated or just poorly thought out. I’m not a tech guru by any means, so maybe it’s me doing something wrong?? 🤷‍♀️Also the Home Screen constantly shows a “could not load” error for the featured shows or movies or apps that are typically seen on a home page. Again not a big deal to me, but I do like getting suggestions for content I wouldn’t typically seek out on my own or even know about without the home page features. I’ve only watched about an hour of tv since I got it and despite the few minor issues I already mentioned, you can’t beat the price and it streams content like it should , so I’m happy and would recommend to others.

It’s okay, does what it’s supposed to

First off, for basic streaming purposes this thing works awesome. You can download all your apps, you have free live TV and can get more with other free apps like Tubi, the WiFi connection from the device is good so things load fast for me. For these basic streaming purposes, you can’t beat the deal you get for $15.However, one thing I wanted to do (which I only found out after I bought the stick) was cloud stream games to my TV via the stick. This is where things aren’t as great. The thing is $15 so I didn’t know what to expect, but I wish I got the $20 4K model for 5 bucks more. The Bluetooth connection on this stick is not great and keeps disconnecting my Xbox controller. When it works it works good but the controller constantly lags and disconnects. ONN GOOGLE TV streaming stick

I bought this ONN stick after using the $20 box on my newer non-smart Insignia TV and finding it works really well. This $15 stick was connected to a RCA TV that is maybe 5-6 years old, and like the Insignia it has no smart features. Unfortunately it didn't work. The setup was going fine like it did with the other box on the Insignia TV, and than suddenly the RCA screen went black. I tried to unplug and wait to see if it would reset, but it didn't come back on. It was working on antenna before I attempted to connect the stick. The newer Insignia TV works fine with the $20 ONN box, so the RCA must have been too old to take the strain. The stick itself is undamaged and I will save it for another TV. There is a limit to what TVs will take the stick upgrade, so be aware of that. There are probably older TVs than my RCA that have been successfully upgraded with these streaming devices, but my RCA had a lot of use over the years and something internal failed.

Orders frequently canceled, almost every other one

I think I’ve gotten close to $100 in free credits from Walmart due to them canceling my orders. And even after that I still have to spend a certain amount of money before I can use them. They claim “fraud detection” however most of the time I just changed my bag preference or an order over $50. All too often they are out of a good majority of my order. Sometimes I feel lucky to get half the things I’ve ordered. The inconsistency within this app has forced me to cancel my account and save myself $12/mo. WinCo has proven to be much cheaper anyways and plenty of other stores have FREE pick up. The benefits from Walmart app are minuscule. Short of the gas (a whopping 10c off per gallon) there’s nothing advantageous about this. There’s absolutely no reason why you should get this app. There’s no benefit to it what so ever. Save your money.

Excellent! I am going to buy another one right away. I just set up this in an old TV and it works beautifully. I am able to watch youtube, I am able to connect some of the features of my computer, they have free TV programs directly there. It needs a regular wifi connection, and a Google account I think. At least I connected it with my Google account. It comes with a remote and it can take over the volume and the turning on and off of the TV itself. So if you lost your remote or it is too old, you have this one now with the bunch of extra features. So much features for so little money. Technology is wonderful. I just love it. The only thing is that it needs an electricity outlet, so the stick is not enough... at least I don't think so... maybe it charges? ... ... MoreExcellent! I am going to buy another one right away. This streaming stick is essentially a Chromecast with Google TV for half the price. It is set up using Google Home just like a Chromecast. The stick is 1080p max but the slightly higher priced "box" is 4K plus I believe has twice the RAM which in itself is reason enough to upgrade. Still, this device seems to respond much faster than my Fire TV Stick. It will function on both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. The remote is well laid out, paired to my Samsung TV without having to do anything, and has handy features lacking on other devices such as input/source selector for the paired TV and live TV shortcut button. You can cast to this device just like Chromecast but you cannot Miracast (screen share) if your mobile device is capable so wifi is required just like with Chromecast. The one down side of this is I cannot install Uverse TV on it like on Android phone or Fire Stick but of course Uverse has been discontinued for new subscribers for some time so this may not be an issue for most. This will replace my Chromecast that does not have Google TV.One side note: I did have a problem setting up the device in Google Home when attempting to connect to one of the networks on my Netgear router. It said it was connected, but couldn't be seen. There is recommendation to change an AP setting in the router, but I couldn't get into my router and found online that a firmware update by Netgear had locked many users out of their router configuration page. HOWEVER, I was able to connect to one of the networks on one of my range extenders that are themselves connected to the same router and the device set up fine that way. Weird. I had the same issue when resetting my Chromecast a while back.

patience required to use

i got this a few years ago and it worked extremely well for the first year. Then i started dealing with constant connection and loafing issues. it started as rare occurrence of having to force close and delete cache and id get another month. the last 6 months has been awful. remote doesnt work half the time. i constantly have to physically disconnect from the power adapter and plug back in. if i try to watch anything it takes me back to the home bage 10 seconds in. yesterday was the final straw when my entire tv screen started turning green, pink, and other colors glitching like crazy like my LCD was about to explode or something. as soon as i paused the movie went to home itd chill out but as soon as id start the movie again the same thing would happen. ive done ... Morei got this a few years ago and it worked extremely well for the first year.
