Ooni Bamboo Pizza Peel - Wooden 16"

A great looking piece of equipment that is perfectly balanced. The surface is smooth and the colour is pleasing to the eye.It's easy to serve from and doubles up as a great surface for rolling out the dough.The only reason I marked it down a star, is down to the fact it marked very easy when cutting the pizza.Maybe I'm just being finicky, but I now serve the pizza onto a different board which I use when cutting the pizza. If this is the norm for these types of boards then I'd gladly give it the full five stars.

I received my first peel, and the board was already separating from itself. To Ooni's customer care team's credit, they promptly replaced it when I shared pictures of the product as it arrived. Unfortunately, the good feeling was short-lived as the replacement Peel has also started to separate, albeit from a different location (near the handle vs. the front of the original). This separation of the bamboo is quite unfortunate as the peel itself is pretty useful. I have fewer issues with my pizza sticking as I slide it into my oven, but it's only a matter of time before it becomes unusable. In fairness, I have recently purchased a couple of other bamboo boards from different sources, and they, too, have also separated. This bamboo peel is really nice. I’ve read reviews that people find it easier to use than the metal peel but I prefer the metal. This bamboo peel retains more flour/semolina underneath the pizza which can result in a burnt bottom if you’re not careful. The metal peel has the perforated holes which ensure that any excess flour/semolina falls off the peel. The bamboo peel is also bit on the heavier/bulkier side as well so I prefer the metal peel for launching into the oven for reasons outlined above. However, it looks great and functions well for serving pizza.That said, Ooni customer service is 10/10. My first peel that I ordered had a chip so I contacted their support team and they sent me a new peel no questions asked. It was fast & easy. Bravo!
