I bought this because of the travel case believing that the case would charge the toothbrush while travelling. It doesn’t. It has to be plugged in to charge. In addition, the charging cord is not compatible with any other charger that you own. It comes with a charging case and cord that has to be connected to the UK bathroom charger - cannot connect to normal power or any other useful travel charger making it useless when you travel. I recently spent 3 weeks in Australia where I could not charge the toothbrush in anyway despite having a universal and international charger. It did not last past the first week. I bought this toothbrush at the recommendation of my hygienist. I always thought electric toothbrushes were a bit gimmicky, but she let me try this one in the practice, and said it would be good for me because I'd been over brushing with a manual toothbrush, and at my 2nd visit had been underbrushing because I was scared to add pressure. This is great because I can feel confident with how much pressure to apply and my teeth feel cleaner than ever.The app is helpful too. Not massively accurate, but helpful. I tend to just brush my teeth as normal and the check it when I think I'm done to see if it thinks I should go over any areas. Given the price, I actually expected it to work like a power bank, a bit like how wireless earbuds work where the you charge the case and it holds the charge and can then charge the toothbrush on the move without wires - imagine what a handy feature that would be for travel! But I was totally wrong, it's just a cheap plastic case that you can plug in, and if the toothbrush is in the case when it's plugged in, it charges, but otherwise it's just a cheap nasty case. It kind of annoys me how it's a bit unclear what they mean by "charging case" on the listings. It doesn't even seem particularly useful. If it had a USB charger instead of s 2-pin shaver plug, that would make sense. But how is this good for charging on the go? Like, where am I going to plug this in at an airport, for example? In fact, I don't even have a 2-pin outlet in my house, so... thanks, I guess. I've had to buy an adaptor for the toothbrush just to charge it, so you missed an opportunity with this one.

Black mold. bad design.

Black mold continues to occur within both the OralB iO9 handle top and brushhead bottom where it attaches to handle. OralB should consider a better design with antimicrobial technology (like Microban® ). As a 20+ year OralB electric toothbrush user, I've never had mold issues with OralB Pro 1000 which is a better anti-mold design. With me being in ortho braces currently, the iO9 definitely cleans my teeth better than Pro1000; however nothing is worth it if mold is involved. I initially started using an iO9 Fall-2021. Since then, I've filed numerous complaints directly to/with OralB: phone calls, emails, and sending original iO9 back to their repair center. Summer-2022 the repair center provided me with a new iO9 handle; and was provided coupons for brushheads. I have following all directions provided by OralB to care for the iO9; and even store the handle & head upside down in a 2-part filtering open dentures container immediately after each usage. I never took the iO9 away from home. I wash & dry my hands before each use. I keep the iO9 away from everything else. I only clean it with toothpaste & tap water. I use a water pick prior to each iO9 use. My dentist sees me twice a month (while in ortho braces) and regular xrays, with no hygiene issues noted nor other dental issues occuring. I keep up with my routine doctor appointments, with all normal test results. I mark on my calendar to start a new brushhead every 2 months. iO9 continued to cause black mold within 1 month of use. No other toothbrushes I've used have mold. Therefore, this mold issue is solely related to iO9.

Didn’t believe it until I tried it…

Bought the IO9 recently as I needed a new electric toothbrush, coming from the standard Oral-B $80 range jumping straight to numerous hundred dollars I was extremely sceptical… how could a toothbrush be worth this much?? Anyway I decided to treat myself and pick this up and all I can say is WOW. This product absolutely blew away any expectation I had, the bristles and vibrations feel absolutely amazing.. it’s like an oral massage compared to my cheaper brush. I no joke felt like I had come back from the Dentist that’s how clean it felt. The feedback of too much pressure or too little pressure was very helpful as my dentist previously said I was brushing too hard causing my gum line to recede. Despite paying 1/2 price, plus extra 10% off and Boots vouchers, it is still a lot of money for an electric toothbrush. However, I find the app extremely useful in ensuring all areas are fully cleaned. The recommendation is to clean for 2 minutes, but I have only once managed a 100% clean rating on the app in less than 3 minutes so I am unclear as to whether 2 mins is sufficient. Especially as I use the intensive rating and a hard bristle brush. The pressure sensor is great for ensuring you use it with appropriate pressure. By far my biggest bugbear with electric toothbrushes is that the battery capacity gradually declines over time, so within around 2 years they are pretty useless. Given the cost of these I hope they last somewhat longer - but time will tell. Great product but not worth the insane price

Overall, it is a great product but I am not sure why it is so expensive. I only bought it because I got as a present and I got it for over 60% off. It looks amazing, the charger is really cool and the travel case looks useful. I like the various settings available on the toothbrush and I like how easy it is to use with the Oral B app. However, the sensor on the toothbrush are not always correct so the coverage shown on the app is not always correct. Aside from that, I cannot default this product, aside from the ridiculous retail price.

Pretty good but...

This is a premium toothbrush which is linked to your phone via bluetooth, and displays your cleaning performance. Plus points include quiet, cleans very well, tells you when you are using too much pressure, multiple cleaning modes (and brush options), no hand vibration. However there are a few flaws. 1. It's a premium product, so why on earth do you have to buy a separate adaptor to actually charge it? A USB cable would have been the way forward. 2. The charging case is simple a case which you still have to plug into the charger (using your separately purchased adaptor again) as opposed to the magnetic charger. 3. The tooth tracking app is not accurate when cleaning the back teeth. Overall conclusion - could do better.

Questionable App and accessories

Good unit - like the visual pressure indicator and various programs - thorough clean possibleThe App is clumsy, hard to follow and mostly just a gimmickTravel case is useless - who in their right mind provides a "travel" case with a propriatary plug???? This needs to be a basic USB-C plug - PERIOD.Also no charging indicator, so you have no idea if the travel case you take with you is of any use. OralB support advises "It will take up to 3 hours to charge the case" nothing else.Almost enough reason to return this.....................................

This is the best toothbrush I have ever had

Pros:- Dentist-clean teeth after each use- My teeth appear whiter with the same toothpaste (a standard/non-whitening one)- Charging station and toothbrush head holder are easy to keep clean- Good value on sale at half priceCons:- The app worked well at the start but about two weeks after using it, it always says, "increase pressure", for both my husband and I, despite not doing anything different. So it's a bit buggy.- Replacement toothbrush heads are pricey
