Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries Power Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush with Bluetooth Connectivity, Black Edition

I orginally purchased this for myself. I didn't feel like my toothbrush was doing a good job and decided to give this a try. I was so impressed with it. It made me feel like I just left the dentist office! The battery charges quick, the handle is very ergonomic and I was worried about the noise because my husband and I are on different shifts but it's quite and hasn't worked him up. I have bought additional brush heads for my oldest son to try to ensure he's brushing better. Very impressive!

I received this toothbrush for Christmas. It has been amazing. It is so easy to use. It can be used with or without the app. The app helps you to know what you have brushed and if you have spent enough time on that area. It’s very easy to use as well. My teeth feel very clean after using. It’s close to leaving the dentist clean. The only downside is it kinda messy to use.

I bought this as a replacement for my old Oral B 500, and woah was it a great move. I was happy with the old one but there's barely a comparison with this one in terms of cleaning, not even mentioning regular toothbrushes as it's a completely different league. Besides the excellent cleaning, this model also has a sensor warning you when you are pressing it too much, and different modes of brushing (e.g. to massage gums, etc). It can even connect with an app on your phone to check you are keeping good care of your pearly whites! I mainly bought it for the cleaning options and for the pressure warning (I tend to be a little harsh when brushing and this can damage gums and teeth in the long run), but the other features are fun to have. Big Changes in Brushing Habits!

The first few times I used the brush it seemed to take forever to get through the "Professional" cycle and brush all four quadrants of my teeth correctly. I also saw a red light flashing often and I had to sit down with the manual and figure out that the light was an indication I was using too much pressure to brush with. I felt very foolish since I had to re-learn how to brush my teeth to use the Pro 5000 brush. It seemed like before with my manual brush I was doing everything wrong.The bluetooth connectivity of this brush seems slightly gimmicky to me. When I first saw it I couldn't imagine why your toothbrush would need it. I honestly thought it was going to give me updates on the weather or read me the news in the morning while I brushed (which I find an awesome idea - who wouldn't appreciate that?) but came to find the Bluetooth aspect connected your phone to the brush to track your brushing habits. I had difficulty downloading the app when I first received the brush, and recently when I got it to download to my Android phone I couldn't get the Bluetooth wireless feature to connect. My phone may not have the capability to sync with the brush, but I didn't really miss this feature because it wasn't something I could see myself using anyway.Some of the things I liked the best were the inclusion of a travel case to take the brush with you, the compact nature of the stand, the ease of cleaning the brush head by running water over and through the bristles, and the sleek appearance of the brush itself.Some things I didn't care for were the brush storage area (which had hinges that seemed to be a magnet for dust and hair on our countertop), the inclusion of only one style of brush head (I would have truly benefited from a sensitive brush head) and the length of time it took me to figure out how to change the speed and functions of the brush. I really wish they had included a "quick start" guide which was specific to the 5000 series brush so I wouldn't have been confused by the instructions for the higher series of brushes (5500, 7000). The pictures for the other brushes made me think I was missing parts of mine and although I knew mine had 5 modes of pressure and oscillation, it took me awhile to get it to a setting I liked. Even then, brushing more than once a day with this particular didn't seem practical for me because I didn't love the sensation on my teeth.In the end, I can't quite give up my manual brush although the Oral-B Pro 5000 series brush definitely makes my teeth feel cleaner. Unfortunately, my family is often affected by colds and allergies during this season, and my husband had a bad sore throat twice in the 2 months I had to test this brush. If he were using it instead of me, and had to replace the brush head due to his illness it would become expensive quickly. I do appreciate the inclusion of the coupons for additional brush heads in the box, and the opportunity to register the product to get further rebates on brush heads in the future.Even though I don't think I am quite the target audience for this brush, I would like to thank the fine folks at Oral-B for allowing me to test and keep the Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries brush with Bluetooth Connectivity for free in exchange for my opinion. I do love how clean and smooth my teeth feel after using it, and I wish I was a bit more tech saavy so I could take advantage of the Bluetooth features. If you are used to the sensation of an electric toothbrush and you would benefit from the multiple modes, built in timer, and pressure sensor (which I believe most anyone would) this would be a great choice for you and could make an excellent gift. Brushing Your Teeth Can be Fun?

My teeth truly felt like I had just been at the dentist and the modes almost mimic a typical dental cleaning (Deep Clean, Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening, Massage). The app itself is well done and allows you to track your brushing as you go about your typical routine. You can download the app to your phone, or tablet and it connects to the toothbrush via bluetooth. I like that it allows you to see each quadrant of your mouth (something that admittedly I never paid much attention to with a manual toothbrush.) In fact, I often multi-tasked as I brushed my teeth and likely missed some key and hard to reach areas. You won't have this happen to you with the Oral B as you are using the app to help guide you through your cleaning. I would also highly recommend this for younger children who are learning to become independent brushers. Not only is it fun, it will really educate them on proper oral care.The unit itself has great battery life, comes with a carrying case for additional brush heads so that you can either chose alternatives for yourself, or allow other family members to have their own heads (easily identifiable by little coloured rings that snap onto each brush head.) The app download was simple and easy, although using electronics in a wet environment, you should always be conscious of the placement of the device that you are using.Overall, I am very pleased with the Oral-B Professional Care Smart Series 5000 Rechargeable Power Toothbrush as compared to a manual toothbrush and do not think that I will be switching back to manual any time soon. It does take some time to get used to the bulkiness of the handle, but after a short time, you won't even notice the difference, you will be focussed on how great your teeth look and feel. Remember that this product does not replace regular visits to the dentist, but it certainly will make those visits much easier to cope with. If you suffer from excessive tartar build up, or simply want that dentist fresh clean feel everyday, this is the product for you!

This toothbrush replaced an Oral B Triumph electric toothbrush that was several years old and starting to show a lot of wear. I needed a new toothbrush anyway and the bluetooth feature intrigued me. After having used it for a few days I will say that I'm very happy with the toothbrush itself. The brush head I was using was only 4 or 6 weeks old, so I just put my existing brush head on the new toothbrush and I was quite surprised that my teeth felt noticeably cleaner than when I brushed with my old triumph brush, even though I was using the exact same brush head. The triumph was in the same price range as this brush, so I really wasn't expecting any difference in brushing performance. It's really a bit of a pain to remember to bring my phone to the bathroom, unlock the phone, start the app, then start brushing every time. While you're brushing the app pretty much gives you the same info that you get with the smart guide that Oral B has included with their toothbrushes for a while now (although it does also include news headlines, weather information, and upcoming calendar appointments) but frankly,when I first got my triumph brush I think I used the smart guide for all of about a week and then managed to lose it in the back of a bathroom cabinet, so I'm not sure I really see myself continuing to open up the app every time I brush my teeth.The app will also record how often and how long you brush for and the brush will retain 20 sessions if you don't start the app each time you brush, so if you want a log of your brushing habits, then it would be good for this and you'd only have to sync with your phone about every two weeks or so, but frankly, I'm not entirely certain why I'd want a log of how often I brush my teeth.The other thing worth noting is that it doesn't work well to share the brush with someone else. The brush will sync with more than one phone, so if everyone remembers to open the app every time they brush, then it will work and the data will all be logged correctly for each user. However, if you don't open the app the brush will store the session in it's own memory and will then sync that session with the first phone that it connects to. So if my wife wakes up first and brushes her teeth without connecting her phone, then I connect my phone and start brushing the app will show that I brushed my teeth twice that morning... once from the saved session that my wife did and once from when I actually brushed them.So in the end I'm going to keep the brush as I'm really quite happy with it's performance as an electric toothbrush, and the bluetooth feature doesn't really add any additional cost (I believe it's actually the same price as the non-bluetooth Pro 5000), but I'm not sure I'll actually be using the bluetooth feature several weeks from now.

It's adequate.

I got this ETB about half a year ago after my OralB 7000 broke. I know I was downgrading, but I thought this OralB 5000 would kind of be the same. But I was definitely wrong. The motor is much weaker, the charging power does not last as long as the 7000 one, the after feeling is not as clean. If it's your 1st electrical brush - it's a good one to start. But do not downgrade if you're able to - the teeth really do not feel the same. I don't know if they have deifferent motors, but it's a no for me. I will obviously continue using it since I already purcheased this one. But the future one will be a different model.

I had the opportunity to try out this Oral-B Pro 5000 Electrical Toothbrush and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has considered buying an electric toothbrush!This is my first time using an electric toothbrush so my gums had to take about a week to get use to it. In the first couple of weeks, I did not play around to much with the settings and mostly stuck to Sensitive since I am a first time user and my gums where not quite ready for the power that the Oral-B provides. Since it has been weeks now that I have been using it, I like to change up the settings most every time I brush my teeth. I find that I prefer the Whitening and Gum Care best. It helps me that it comes with a Pressure Sensor as well. If I press to hard with the toothbrush the spinner stops moving and the light changes from green to red until I ease up on the pressure.When you buy your Oral-B Pro 5000, you will get the Floss Action head. It has these bristles that are a bit longer that can reach down in between the teeth and remove more plaque. This does work as my teeth have never looked or felt so clean! I read in the instructional book that there are different heads you can buy to address different issues but I have not purchased any of those.One of the coolest features of this toothbrush is that you can leave it on the charger and it wont wear out the battery! It does recommend that every 6 months you leave it off and let it fully uncharge to give the battery a reset of sorts. I have it sitting on my counter in the bathroom and I just place it back when I am done with no stress that I am going to ruin the battery.The only thing I do not really care for it the Bluetooth ability on this toothbrush. I know that if my mom was to read that it was Bluetooth capable on the box she would never purchase it. I personally stopped using the Bluetooth setting after the first couple of days as I didn't like having to need my phone in the bathroom hanging over the sink and the like.

When it comes to the app and extra features, those are cool but not something I am sure I NEED in a toothbrush. It's kind of like a fitbit for me--cool at first, but once you get the details on your habits, not something you remember or feel like continually using. Also, remembering to bring your phone to the bathroom when you are in a rush is maybe a little inconvenient. The handle is a little too heavy/substantial for my taste, but I can deal with it if it's helping contribute to the deep-clean feeling I get after brushing.All in all it's a great and effective toothbrush, and maybe even a five-star brush for someone that's a little more tech-savvy/into those kinds of bells and whistles that come with the Bluetooth connectivity.

Stopped Working after only one day......

I purchased this model last week. Charged the unit fully. Used 3x than on the 4th time, after the 2 minute cycle was complete, the unit shut down never to start up again. The lights would light up but the motor didn't turn on. I did the reset and that didn't work either. I called customer service and they didn't have any other steps for me to take except to send it in for warranty exchange. Which would take 15 days.I did the return thru Amazon and received my replacement the next day.I love the way the Smart Pro 5000 cleans, when it's working.I was very disappointed the unit failed to work after only 1 day. I hope this replacement unit lasts. We'll see......
