This model replaced a previous Oral-B electric toothbrush and I am a little disappointed. Although it cleans better because the head speed is more constant over the battery charge, there are a number of aspects I do not like: 1. The timer is not very functional. 2. The battery charger plug pins are too small a diameter and do not fit the charging socket in the bathroom. As a result, I continue to use the old charger. 3. When the battery is low, it just stops with no indication that a recharge is required. 4. It is unclear when the battery is fully charged.

Recently i have had to spend 5 weeks in hospital due to a major spinal problem. I found that turning my head or physically moving my arm back and forth created a lot of pain. My partner then bought me the Oral B Vitality Plus. What a change! Firstly it stopped all associated pain from using other muscle groups and now, 2 months on, i am at home and look forward to cleaning my teeth each day. The clean, refreshed feeling i have in my mouth after this is wonderful. Sometimes i even will give my teeth a quick midday clean, sans toothpaste, if i feel like it. Seriously i believe every adult should have one of these and i am sure it will make toothbrushing fun for children as opposed to something to try and avoid.

These are good brushes, a lot better than manual toothbrush - they make your teeth feel really clean.But the brush heads are expensive (to buy), unless on offer (in shops etc) & the batteries inside don't last and they can't be replaced - you can Google it and they're very difficult to change. I have two old ones sat at home doing nothing, I bought one just over three years ago & the battery is going - the charge takes ages and doesn't hold (only for a few days before charging again).Keep meaning to contact Oral B, not very good for a company trying to be Green or environmentally friendly - just a throw away option & buy new (just good for them).. :-(

This Genius 8000 is so much better than my existing Braun toothbrush.I can honestly say that the Genius leaves my teeth feeling so squeaky clean and as though I've just left the hygienist.The position detector takes some getting use to and I don't always remember to take my phone to the bathroom. However, the technology has reeducated me on my cleaning habits and I do think it would be a fantastic tool to educate children and reward them accordingly on the targets they achieve. I have been using this toothbrush for 2 weeks now and I am really impressed with the product. It took me a while to get used to having 4 modes and had a few mishaps splashing toothpaste everywhere but am now used to it. I mainly use the daily clean and gum clean as my dentist had advised me to pay attention to my gums. My teeth are fairly white so haven't really noticed much of a difference with the whitening mode. I really liked the pressure sensor as I tend to brush a little too vigorously at times so the flashing light made me lighten my touch. The 30 second timer also a good idea as you can make sure you brush your whole mouth evenly. I was very disappointed with this product and more so after ordering two. It does not have an indicator to say the toothbrush needs charging. It does not have enough power to brush my teeth after I had charged it for a day. It is not compatible with my other oral B toothbrushes. Overall I am not happy at all. The reason why I haven't send it back was because I was stupid enough to open both the packaging and realised it was a cheap product that is NOT fit for purpose.
This unit replaced one that I'd had for many years and then failed to charge properly. This unit I paid a lot less for but is more powerful and I'm sure will give me many years of service. However, unlike the unit it replaced, this one has no red indicator light to advise the battery requires charging or that is when on the charging adaptor and, therefore, no steady green light to advise when it is fully charged either. I would have given it 5 stars if it incorporated an indicator light which I found very useful on the previous model. Still a very good product though & far superior to a manual tooth brush.

Rather than concentrate on a few top quality machines, I think that Braun have joined the 'throw away' club. My previous Oral B lasted about 10 years, but this ones is on its way out after 18 months. It is a comfortable brush to handle, does a good job of cleaning my teeth and the charge seems to hold for a long time. It is nice to have a timer but one thing that is missing is a light to show that you have placed it on the base properly and charging has commenced. The soft push on/off button can be difficult to feel and this is what has become a problem on my machine. My philosophy is that the more modes offered, the greater the risk of it breaking down and as modern Braun toothbrushes can retail at 100, it is an expensive risk to take. After all, a toothbrush is supposed to clean teeth come what may and thus does it really need to massage gums, flash lights and offer daily routine cleansing practises. Im not a miser by any stretch of the imagination but I refuse to pander to companies who want to charge such exorbitant prices for technology that quite frankly I dont think is really needed. Braun has always been synonymous with good quality and even though years have passed and technology has brought along many possibilities, a toothbrush should be able to clean teeth well from the basic level brush up to the state of the art kind. I can happily recommend this brush to others who dont have the money to spend on a top of the range kind but who like to feel that their teeth and mouth have been cleaned well and that they feel fresh thereafter.
