Orbit 57894 4-Station Outdoor Swing Panel Sprinkler System Timer
The Easy Set Logic indoor/outdoor sprinkler timer/controller is the logical timer of choice for residential sprinkler systems with up to 12 zones/stations. This timer is engineered for installation in an indoor or outdoor location. It has a locking door with two keys and the display is mounted on a swing panel which allows you to easily access the wiring. It can power a pump start relay and one valve solenoid at the same time. The A, B and C program slots allow you to set up to three unique watering schedules tailored to different types of zones in the yard. Each program has space for four different start times which allows you to create cycle and soak windows that encourage water infiltration into the soil. The Easy Set Logic sprinkler timer will automatically stack overlapping runtimes from different programs so that only one solenoid is running at any given time. The manual run feature allows you to run one zone, select zones, or all zones for a specified length of time, which is very convenient for zone testing or supplemental watering. It has a rain delay feature at the timer which allows you to skip watering zones for a configurable time when Mother Nature is taking care of the watering, and a relay switch for adding an automatic rain and freeze sensor (sold separately). Installation is as simple as mounting the timer on the wall, putting the common wire (typically white wire) in the C terminal and the individual zone wires in each of the numbered station terminals, plugging in the power cord, and setting the schedules. Push wire terminals allow for tool-less insertion and removal of the wires. The recommended standard sprinkler wire for this timer is 18 gauge thickness with 5 or 7 strands/wires.

Firstly, I have never have any issues setting timers for anything including a very complicated veri speed pool pump. I have to say this one has me beat. It is very difficult to know which station you are setting watering time, duration, and days. I really find it very challenging without being able to see which station you are programming for, as you enter duration and times. I found a you tube video that helped. But every time I have to add watering times to a station it has to be redone. Very disappointing. I would rather pay 3 times as much and have a little more clarity when programming. I actually wonder if I have a defective timer. That said once it is set, it is reliable. It easy to install as well.

Failed after 3 months. Transformer stopped working.Their Warranty department denied coverage. Said you void warranty when you hardwire into electric line.Their installation instructions tell you how to hardwire and show illustration. Warranty shown in instructions does not say you void warranty if hardwired. I sent claim into Consumer Protection Agency.

Great product.I previously owned 3 irrigation controllers from other companies including Rain Dial and Rain Bird, all that I either inherited from previous owners or that a landscaper installed. They all failed on me, either by complete failure or turning on at random times at which they weren't programmed to turn on which cost me a lot of money at a rental house. I have also now owned 3 of these Orbit Easy-Set controllers (the 6-, 9-, and 12-station models). The oldest one is now 9 years old, and none has ever failed in any way. They have been champs. Mine are all installed in garages, so I have no experience with their reliability in outdoor environments. Product has good quality. It is easy to program for the basic functions, but the instructions could be improved for the more difficult programming needs. Some of the on-line videos are helpful for programming. After a couple of years in the sun (behind a sun shade) the LCD numerals became unreadable so I bought a new timer. Also, ithe timer should be shipped with cord grommets for the power cord and solenoid power cable entries to prevent entry of bugs. Finally, a close-up figure of the electric terminal strip should be included in the instructions for the customer's record keeping of zone solenoid power wire colors.
Seems to be a fine product! It is installed and I'm waiting for the rain sensor to be attached to it, and if that happens successfully, I will have purchased the right product for us! Thank you for your service.
I inherited one of these, so to speak, in the yard where I live now. And for the life of me could not get the second zone valve to trigger via the program. I could trigger it through the timer manually but not through a program. The soaring tractor review mentions that the 'big secret' Is that you only have to set one start time and that you activate zones through the run time setting. I watched all the orbit videos I could find and search all over the place and if it wasn't for this review I'd probably still be pawing away at the thing not knowing what to do. So, is it a good timer? For the price, probably. There seems to be a rain bird equivalent on here that is more simply laid out. Everything is obvious and upfront. So maybe that's a better option but it's also ... MoreI inherited one of these, so to speak, in the yard where I live now. We love this new timer! It is easy to install has large print and numbers on the dials so you don’t have to lean in to see how to make change. Love the color, black wires and it’s working great! Thanks for making a great product. This one is not Bluetooth and that is what we wanted as we like going out there checking the garden out and making adjustments while we are there!
No way to connect wires from 9 valves unless your wire is super micro. The genius's that design nearly every irrigation clock made by this company as well as others have used the same connection bar for over 20 years. It is in no way shape or form convenient unless you turn the entire time clock upside down while making connections. And the only way to get 9 common wires is to add a pigtail to one or both commons. Try stuffing the common wires from 4-5 valves in either common and you will get what I mean. It is beyond me that nobody from Orbit ever tried wiring a time clock like this one and realized how horrible this design is.Very reasonable price for what it can do. Simple electronic functions are easy to understand. But the wiring block is absolutely horrible.
When you are programming this for multiple zones and different times instead of just programming everything in one spot you have to set your zones on different programs. So to set zone 1 for 1 pm you select program A zone 1 set start time for 1 pm set run time and leave the other zones alone. To set zone 2 for 3pm select program B zone2 start time 3pm run time and leave the other zones alone. You continue this until all zones have their own start times.
Bought this thinking that this brand would be good. No - do not buy this controller as it was difficult to program and It failed after 5 months, unable to reset and randomly come on and randomly does not turn off wasting water. It is protected from the weather under a dry stairway and sealed but the fact that it failed during the wet season means it not made fir outdoor.
