Orient Men's Kamasu Stainless Steel Japanese-Automatic Diving Watch
Only after diving into the design and specifications of the Kamasu will it be clear as to why it stands alone as a collection. Kamasu is the Japanese word for Barracuda, a fitting name for a watch where the triangular hour marker and arrow hands resemble teeth. The design of the bezel is a little different as wella dotted pattern in between bold numerals. The watch also sports a day and date complication similarly to the Orient divers that came before it. The case measures at 41. 8mm across and 46. 8mm lug to lug. The Kamasu comes equipped with a solid, oyster-style bracelet (although the end links are hollow). Up front it has been upgraded with a flat sapphire crystal and under the hood youll find our F6922 mechanical movement that is self-winding, hand-windable and hacking.

My Kamasu (mako III) arrived quickly all things considered. The box is underwhelming, but the watch delivers more. The spec. with the Sapphire glass, 200m WR, screw crown and high quality auto movement is extremely good value, especially when you have a good look at the quality fitment of everything on the dial, as good as if not better than some of my Swiss watches. Very handsome watch, the blue dial on this diver style is just so classical. The only downside: and it doesn't minus any stars , is that it wears a touch smaller than my other 42mm watches!!!!

Here’s my original 5 star review:“This watch (the Kamasu) is truly wonderful. Not too large - the perfect size. I’ve already received tons of compliments. Most people believe it to be a much more expensive watch than it is. Highly recommended!”Unfortunately, I have since had to revise my review. After only a short period of wearing it and very gentle handling - the crown just fell off. Orient would not fix or replace it. Thankfully, drop.com let me send it back for a full refund. So as nice as it looked, the quality of Orient watches has clearly gone downhill. I’ll definitely be buying another watch from drop.com - just not an Orient.

I've been watching the Orient Kamasu (wrongly labeled Mako 3 by Drop) for some time, waiting for a good deal to snatch one. Finally got it on Drop. It's a great watch at a great price. Build quality is fantastic. Overall, I'm very impressed. One caveat though, the bracelet is not the best quality. It does fine for what it is, but it has hollow end links and feels a bit cheap for a +250 USD watch. As far as accuracy for the money it's great. Mine is running around a few seconds a day. The sapphire crystal, day/date feature is a great feature at this price bracket. The automatic movement is Japanese, with hacking and hand winding. The watch isn't made in Japan, probably in Malaysia or HK, but the parts are all Japan sourced.Orient is owned by Epson (yes, those from ... Also the sapphire crystal is not available on cheaper Seikos, only the Grand Seiko and the top of the line models get it and it's not the same price. So if you're looking for a good Diver's style (not a real diver, can't have those for the price) the Kamasu (Mako 3) is a fantastic choice.

I managed to grab a red dialed copy of the Kamasu in the last drop. That red/burgundy starburst is fantastic. Mineral crystal was really the only thing keeping me from a Mako/Ray, so the sapphire is a welcome upgrade. It looks to be running a few seconds fast a day which is well within my personal tolerance. It wears well, I'm really enjoying it. Case finishing is good. The bezel action is good, not too stiff, not too loose, pretty easy to grip without being chunky, and it lines up to the hour markers. The crown is a little bit small to grip with the crown guards, but it is still usable. I'm not a lume expert, but it seems pretty close to my Seiko, so I can't complain. Bracelet is just okay. the hollow end links squeaked against the springbars for me, but the smallest bit of lubricant stopped that. Clasp is pressed and a little flimsy but locks up solid enough that I'm not worried. All in all I am very satisfied for the price, it's a great buy.
Purchased the Kamasu late last fall as a modest (and early) Christmas gift for myself. I'm not a watch guy by any means, but felt that the time was right to own a watch that had the stature beyond one would find for under a $100 at a department store. Orient's Kamasu has exceeded those simple expectations and more. Having done some research and comparison shopping, I set my price point for $500 or less. Initially I was contemplating a Tissot automatic, but then saw several reviews that compelled me to look at Orient. For my guidelines, the Kamasu made sense and I ordered one, but would it live up to the expectations? In a word: yes. Out of the box I was incredibly impressed with the physical heft of this thing. Again, I'm not a watch guy and I had no idea what to expect, but it's a great watch for an incredible price. It's a perfect watch for a daily wear and its sensible design present a modest air of sophistication without the effort of other similarly priced divers. I did have a small issue with keeping my phone too close to it for a little too long and I reset it manually and there's been surprisingly no ill effects with any internal workings being magnetized long-term. Otherwise the watch has performed admirably. Great for day-to-day, work Zoom meetings, hikes, runs to the store, etc. Exceptional looks, exceptional precision.
It took me a minute to figure out how to set the day and date, because it kept changing the day after a few hours. I set the time to 630 in order to set the day and date. This did the trick.Overall, it's my favorite dive watch from Orient. I swapped out the bracelet for a crown and buckle seatbelt nato strap.
I watched many reviews about this watch before buying, and it doesnt disappoint. It looks great, is comfortable, and for the price great quality. It has a sapphire crystal which is amazing for the price, but due to it being a budget/beater watch it means that theyve had to make other areas cheaper to accommodate that luxury. The main one of these is the strap, its not terrible, easy to adjust, just a little cheap. But definitely wouldnt put me off buying as once well adjusted on the wrist its barely noticeable. 100% recommend if you want a great automatic movement. Packaging as per the photos was great, it came with everything it should have, and arrived days ahead of the estimated delivery date.
The lume is probably among the best you can get.The bracelet is much better than some of the reviews had lead me to believe. The bracelet links feel quite solid. Finishing on the bracelet is pretty good. Some may find that the clasp is too long though. The accuracy is very good. Better than my Seiko SARB035.The crown may be too small. You may find it a little difficult to screw the crown back in because the crown guards get in the way.Bezel action feels quite good. It has a satisfying click to it. I found it pretty easy to turn. The polishing on the sides of the case is not the best but that's OK for the price. If you have smaller wrists (Mine is 6.75"-7.00") than you will find this watch very wearable. I am very satisfied with this Kamasu watch, the more I wear it and look at it, the more I like it. It's more beautiful in person because I can see all the 3-dimensional features that are very well designed. It has a metallic shine when I put light on the black dial which I didn't expect, which makes it even better. Very sharp, and gorgeous watch.
