Ortlieb Atrack 25L Backpack Black Beige

We recently took up mountain lake kayaking and needed a safe and dry way to transport our camera gear. After considerable research we settled on the Ortlieb Atrack 35l. The fit works well for both of us.One note on sizing. I was originally going to order the Ortlieb Atrack ST as I am 172cm and 65kg. Ortlieb's video showed a male model (170cm) with the Atrack 35l set to medium and since the ST adjusts from XS to M, I thought the Atrack ST would be a good choice. However, at the last minute, I opted for the Atrack 35l and I am glad that I did because I have it set to L in order to fit properly. Adjustable sizing to meet varying torso lengths.3. Hydration system compatible (although you must use the Otlieb system to maintain waterproofness).4. Optional accessory strap system adds versatility to the pack (ie poles, skis, etc.).5. Easy access to all the contents due duffel style access.6. Lots of internal storage pockets.7. Excellent hip belts with storage pockets.8. Comfortable shoulder straps with sternum strap.Cons1. You must unlatch top and bottom to properly open the bag.2. Some will find the zipper sticky (necessary to be waterproof).3. Heavier than our go to hiking pack (Osprey Exos 38 weighs 1.1 kg). Ortlieb weighs in at 1.47 kg. The price you pay for a truly waterproof bag.4. No top grab handle.Overall, we highly recommend this waterproof backpack!

Did we mention the we love these packs? Think of them as dry duffel bags with a great comfortable and adjustable harness, plenty of attachment points, a big storage compartment and a solid zipper. The bonus hydration system, helmet kit and attachment pack just add more usability and features. Some people have complained about the lack of inner organization compartments and while I can see how this is a problem for some, we pack with cubes and stuff/compression sacks which eliminates the issue for us. Haven't had a lot of time to use them, but a bike/hike over night tent trip and a three day paddle later we're sold. This bag we fit perfectly in the stern storage compartment on an Stellar S18S G2 with ease. If it stands up to a dunking in the lake like it's bigger ... MoreDid we mention the we love these packs? A very different backpack - in a good way

I wanted a fully waterproof pack for my winter photography day trips. I had some "must have" and "must nots" on my list, and the Ortlieb Atrack 45 litre was the only pack I could find which met those: it is fully waterproof (submersible even); it uses a zip (instead of a rolltop); it has a proper harness (which is adjustable); and it's tough;When it arrived I wasn't sure about it. It looked so different to a normal backpack. So, it sat on the carpet for several days while I pondered whether I would keep it, or would return it. Sanity prevailed, as I reminded myself that there was nothing conventionally designed that met my requirements. It is so comfortable and so easy to work out of.It's actually the best large day pack I've ever used. Here's what I like about it:- the capacity: a fully waterproof 45l pack. If you don't like a rolltop, in 2022, this is the only option- the full length zip: it opens like a duffle, giving easy access to anything in the pack, without removing stuff to get to what you want.- the organiser pockets: I thought I wasn't going to like these, but they are a good size and don't get in the way.- the colour: I didn't want a dark colour; bags with dark interiors hide stuff, so a brighter option was nice.- the harness: I find this is really excellent; It's got great structure, without being bulky; it's adjustable to the length of your back; the waist belt really supports the weight in the pack; the sternum strap fastener has one end fixed in position on the shoulder strap, so you can (with practice), fasten and unfasten it with one hand.- the bottle pockets: two elasticated pockets which sit flat against the pack when not in use.- the material: tough smooth material that is easy to wipe clean if needed (don't call me fussy - sheep dung should be cleaned off, not worn with pride).Ortlieb - your designers got this pack right. 10 out of 10.

Amazing Bag

I have an Ortlieb 60L duffel that I travel everywhere with and I love it. Being able to throw an indestructible waterproof duffel on my back is an easy way to travel. When I saw the Atrack I liked the idea of having waterproof duffel style backpack that has proper shoulder and hip belt straps which are very adjustable and comfortable. A lot of times when I travel I go straight from the airport to the trail and this pack is perfect for that. If you are good with having minimal pockets and storage compartments (I use pods within the duffel for organization) then this bag works great. Amazing bag!

Awesome!

I’ve had the bag for about a month.The harness system is great! It is well padded, allows air flow, and actually adjusts to fit my long torso. I have yet to find another bag this size with a waist belt that I can actually use properly. They typically don’t adjust to be long enough. This means I can occasionally load it up and not kill my shoulders. Also, the material feels like it will last forever and it’s fully waterproof. If I have a small load, I can just squish all the air out, zip it up, and the vacuum inside will hold the load right where I put it! The zipper against the back was a bit interesting to get used to, but no that I am used to it, I actually really like it. Best Pack I've Every Owned

I was turned onto this pack by Outdoor Gear Labs. Its fully waterproof and sits very nicely on the body with a great degree of adjustability. It has nice modular capabilities. The zipper sits adjacent to the body so the pack opens up like a duffel bag so that you don't have to dig blindly around in your bag. It has four convenient pouches. I own two of them, one 25L and one 45L for bigger tripes. Highly highly recommend this bag.

Bomber, waterproof Swiss Army knife of a bag

This bag combines all the elements of a working backpack, straps and zipper face up not on the ground, waterproof, comfortable harness and can manage a heavy load. For me using it as a camera bag for an expedition in Atlantic Canada. Rain, sea spray, wet ground no problem for this bag. Because of the fabric it cleans up easily inside and out and retains no soil. For all the fancy hipster bags out there for photo this is the one, with the proper insert it’s good to go.

Do it all dry bag

I bought the 25L version of the product, and the bag definitely makes it easy to use all 25 L. The 4 internal pockets are out of the way if not in use, but very convenient and appropriately sized for internal organization. Straps are very comfortable, along with the waist belt, which can be adjusted with relative ease. The external straps allow for the bag to gain all kinds of additional functionality, like carrying skis, tents, ropes, extra layers, etc. Mesh water bottle pockets are huge as they should be, enough for an extra tall water bottle to fit easily. One thing to note, anything in the main compartment requires completely removing the bag and usually setting it down. Setting it on snow, wet ground, rocks, etc is not a problem for the bag, but something to consider (not the fastest open, access, close process). Great bag overall as insurance for anything inside against any amount of water or moisture.

Nice pack.

Nice pack, very well made and comfortable.Need to re-learn packing because of the different way that it opens. Lighter items are best packed furthest from your back and heaviest items closest. That means light items like insulating layers that are most likely to be needed mid trek are hardest to get to.I think the straps slip as well so they need regular tightening but haven't had it long enough to be sure.On balance though, so far I would say it's the best day pack I've ever had and I've had a few!
