When the batch is good, it’s delicious! But something has changed in the last batch or two I’ve bought. My family and I religiously do movie nights every week and I always make popcorn with it. The kernels are either not all popped (which turns out to be a LOT of unpopped kernels) or I burn them very very easily - to which I don’t burn my popcorn, I know exactly what to do as I’ve been doing this for years. Nothing has changed in my method of popping so I’ve deducted it down to the kernels. I hope they can fix the problem because I’ve been a loyal Orville fan for decades!

Awful. I guess I’m confused?

I’m not sure what and how people are saying this oil is good? It’s literally 100% tasteless and odorless. I’m trying to figure out what did i miss? Or did i get a bad bottle? It popped my popcorn perfectly, i won’t lie there.. but my popcorn was so dry and flavorless, and even adding it as a topper? Absolutely NOTHING. I tried 4 different batches to make sure i wasnt overreacting. This is the exact same as corn oil. Orville, please help. I’m not sure what went wrong….

I am astounded by the number of poor reviews. Orville Redenbacher’s is by far the best kernel popcorn available.First, I only make popcorn on the stove. I use 1/3 cup popcorn with 2-3 tablespoons of canola oil in a Theater II popcorn maker with a crank. There is rarely a single unpopped kernel. Every piece of popcorn is big, fluffy, and delicious.Even made with oil, the total number of calories is low.I can’t imagine why anyone would ever cook popcorn in a microwave or with an air popper. The flavor isn’t the same. In fact it’s not really there at all. So why bother.Cook the popcorn as designed with oil and follow the directions/recipe and then judge the taste and quality.Otherwise, you’re doing it wrong.

DO NOT PURCHASE!!
10 September 2023

Worst popcorn ever!! My entire family are popcorn connoisseurs and have always been loyal to Orville Redenbacher’s corn; though not anymore after this last batch. It behaves like old, expired corn and does not pop as it should. Tried to take a pic of the lot/expiration date though to no avail. It reads as follows: 21648 048 2001 11:25 BEST BY FEB 12 2024. Needless to say, it is well within the expiration date. Be smart and explore other brands as this one has jumped the shark!! Never again!!

It’s the best

My dad has made home made popcorn since I was a kid. I learned how he did it on my own and recommend nothing else. Cover the pan surface with a thin coat of oil. Put the popcorn in just enough for every kennel to have a one kernel even layer. Don’t let them be two kernels high. Start with a little and shake to get them even. Move the top of the pan slightly off to let the steam escape -otherwise your popcorn will be soggy. Turn the setting on your stove to 7. Meanwhile-Melt 2 tablespoons of butter for 45 seconds. Listen to it pop, when it slows down to a pop every second or two, slide it off the heat. Don’t open the lid yet, it will continue to pop for a few seconds. Take the top off and pour half into a bowl. Put 1 tablespoon of butter on and mix it up. Put the ... MoreMy dad has made home made popcorn since I was a kid. No Flavor! Just oily Color
21 December 2022

Too bad I didn't see reviews before! I would have never wasted my money. No taste at all.. Just Orange oil. My older daughter uses it and it is good only because she uses Real Butter with it in her popper. My popper does not allow oil. It flavorless and it is pointless to mix with butter just for color, you can use regular oil so the popcorn does not get that "wet" texture. Disappointed and disgusted. A total waste of money

Perfectly crunchy and crispy
3 April 2023

We are popcorn connoisseurs at our house. We eat it almost every day!We prefer the stovetop method when it comes to making popcorn. It is the closest you can get to movie-theater quality popcorn, and it is much healthier.White popcorn kernels pop large and crispy (unlike yellow kernels, which can be chewier and smaller). This also pops well in the microwave if you're in a hurry (just place it in a paper bag with a small amount of oil and pop away!).This popcorn always performs consistently well. This is one of the few brands that we can rely on for taste and quality!

Tough and chewy
16 October 2022

Recently purchased a Cuisinart Popcorn Maker at a Membership Club. Unfortunately all they sell is Microwave Popcorn, so off to Walmart I go to get some kernels. Orville Redenbacher seems to have a good reputation so that’s what I bought. Well we got almost a full pop with few kernels not popped. Encouraging. Then to the taste. Disappointing. We were surprised at how tough and chewy the popcorn was. It was light eating stale popcorn, yet it was just popped.

Works great in a silicone microwave popcorn popper
19 May 2022

I buy this at my local grocery store. I use a silicone microwave popper. I set the 1100-watt microwave to about 3.5 minutes. I listen to it pop and wait until most have popped. Occasionally, I have to stop it a little early, but rarely. I scoop out the popped kernels into a container. Any unpopped kernels I stick back in the microwave for 66 seconds. I scoop those popped kernels into the container. I usually have less than 10 unpopped kernels at this point. I add popcorn salt and imitation butter to my popcorn and mix it around for even distribution. I'm ready for my movie.
