I recall this scent from the 1980s and this version is nothing like what I remember. It's not a bad scent, per se, but it's just one of the weaker "premium" frags I've encountered in recent years. I sprayed it on my wrist not even 2 hours ago and there not a remnant of it exists. It's certainly cheap enough, but it's not worth it to me. Also not pleased with how this was wrapped. The tester bottle I ordered was placed into a bubble wrapped envelope with an adhesive interior. When the bottle was removed, the adhesive took much of the writing on the bottle. Just not a good experience with this one overall.

This has got to be the best fragrance I own. I would describe myself as a gentleman with a dark style, and this suits me perfectly. It comes across as a mix of dark fruit and spices, then dries down to a leather and dusty geranium scent. It definitely feels like something from the past, a mystical fragrance that is as dark blue as it's bottle. If you love old school romantic colognes, this one is one of the best you'll ever find. It's criminal that the market didn't support it anymore and that they discontinued it. But that needn't trouble you. Whatever you wear is whatever is current in your world.

Another blind purchase that I love. Another classic that has been in the market for over four decades. I cannot comment on the original 1980 edt, but for the ridiculously low price, the current reformulation gets the job done. It's no projection beast but It has a decent sillage, smells great and gets compliments. Pople over 50 may like this kind of fragance, but test it before buying It.

I bought this for my brother but insisted I try it. I was most impressed. A nice citrus fragrance (which I like personally). It lasted on my skin and dried to something pleasant. Good value and a good fragrance.
I bought this because it's supposed to smell similar to my favorite men's fragrance Antaeus for Men by Chanel. It doesn't come close, however. To me, it lacks depth. Antaeus is richer, more bold and masculine. This fragrance is too light and sharp. Some people may like it.
Three classic men's scents were shipped to me. All three lacked much in the way of fragrance. It was if they sat around for years and expired. Very very bad. A complete waste of money.A fourth fragrance - a woman's fragrance - was okay. Now comes the inconvenience of returning/shipping the fragrances back to FragranceX. Maybe. Or maybe not. I'm quite busy and might simply decide to stop buying from FragranceX.A refund would be nice. But I really don't fancy hassling with returning the items. Not sure if I even have the original packaging. What would be better is if FragranceX shipped the quality product that I paid for.
ODLR Pour Lui has seen some serious changes. I bought an unopened 2004 bottle. In 2008 they removed the oakmoss from the formula, which killed it for some. Lui isn't super-dependent on oakmoss, so I think it got by ok. There were a few more reformulations since then, and the new generation (typical Y/Z) find it quite noir. The OG (1978-2007 and wow 30 years!) was a pretty unique take that isn't Pinaud Clubman or anything, but strongly suggests a fresh, clean shaven man, going to work. Almost unique for the day (the 80s) this fragrance does NOT work with cigar/cigarette smoking odors. Yes, lots of people smoked and MOST of the popular men's fragrances of the time combine nicely with the odors of tobacco. Pour Lui (the OG) does not, and this isn't something you can ... MoreODLR Pour Lui has seen some serious changes. I bought an unopened 2004 bottle. Yes, lots of people smoked and MOST of the popular men's fragrances of the time combine nicely with the odors of tobacco. Pour Lui (the OG) does not, and this isn't something you can really tell until you try it. Although NOT in the scent range of a "barbershop" fragrance, Lui has the composure of a work fragrance that any professional (at least then) could wear. Specifically, to me it smells like a doctor. Nothing about it is cloying or stands out and slaps you. If you (are male and) work in hospitality or in health care, and serve elderly people (over 50s) ODLR Pour Lui is possibly a GREAT CHOICE for a work fragrance. It is NOT Encre Noir or anything Noir to me. It is not a good datefragrance, unless you are wanting her to respect you and not get intimate. It is to me not particularly seasonal, but not a hot tropical or beach vacation scent. It is a work scent and the smell of it suggests competence not casual relaxation. Night or Day is not implied (to me) but this scent is fairly mild and not jumping for attention. The one lifetime user review I've read was a US Navy Doctor. I can imagine the ocean breeze enhancing this scent. Worth a try for a work fragrance, as it is very cheap but did have a sophisticated complexity. I would love to try the current formula somewhere. Doesn't smell like candy or remotely like "modern child" stuff.
Quality clean scent which lasts most of the day. It can be classed as a classic cologne for the mature male. It has a pleasant smell which gets many admirers. One of the better Mens cologne which has still many fansa good 8 out of 10
I remember getting this as a gift when I was a rather young man. So needless to say, you could smell me long before you could even see me. I really liked the fragrance. Although it was just a tad bit too sophisticated for such a young guy. My uncle coached me on how much, where, and when to apply a fragrance. The scent of jasmine, along with the other notes, spun me into an imaginary state of mind. This is truly a period piece and a serious throwback
Very similar to Van Cleef and Arpels pour Homme, which is now discontinued, also has shades of Chanel Antaeus but this performs way better than the modern formulation of Antaeus and at a quarter of the cost. Need a good few sprays , dont be shy. 3 sprays to each side of the neck and one each on either wrist or two on the chest area will suffice . so 6-8 sprays max and its Great stuff, I am planning to get two backup bottles as fragrances like this are now started to be phased out as its considered a bit of a shame to smell macho nowadays.
