I applied this product around my sink area in my kitchen as I have wooden work tops and it protects them brilliantly. I would recommend using 2-3 coats to ensure you have enough of the product soaked in for it to do the job. I anticipate however that I will have to reapply 2-3 times a year as I do a lot of washing up! So far I'm very happy how this has protected the wood and although it's ever so slightly on the glossy side (it doesn't match the Osmo Top Oil Matt that I applied to my kitchen island), I would most certainly take this over no protection at all as I would hate for the wood to go grey from too much water saturating into it. Very impressed!

We were renovating our 15 year-old oak butchers block kitchen worktops which were looking very patchy. The area around the taps behind the kitchen sink had gone black owing to the amount of water which had splashed on to it and then soaked in over the years. Having sanded it all down that area still looked slightly darker than the rest but applied 2 coats of the wood protector hoping that it would stop any further damage. We then applied 2 coats of Osmo Top Oil 3058 which enhanced the worktop without making it too dark or orangey. The area behind the sink still gets splashed but the water just stays on the top and can be wiped off so not penetrating the wood. Really pleased with the result.

Have used on bathroom oak window board and bath panel before finishing with Osmo top oil. Gives excellent water repellency well worth using in addition to the top oil.

This particular product is largely overlooked, when I first started using the system it wasnt essential but I recall calling up for advice and the rep said ..oh, youre using the wood protector ..so youre interested in doing it right! I took a little boost from that and now I tend to include it. Its very thin like a stain and adds a little insurance behind the top coats in terms of repellency, flood it on unlike the polyx and then cloth it back, you can quickly put items onto treated areas, it feels touch dry quicker than the oil. The only down side really is it does heat the colour of pine up and so counteracts the raw/white products a little and of course its another 24 hours on the job/another coat. I think it would be fantastic if you were laying new flooring at the back because Id say it seals end grain very well but you can quickly handle it after application. I sometimes use it to keep boards clean that Ive added as repairs until I can finish the whole floor again.
Used this as a 1st coat on oak worktops around the sink and window areas. Blended in to 1st coat polyx on other areas. Topped with polyx for 2nd and 3rd coats. Used to prevent blue bkack staining which can happen to oak if water penetration. Have to say the way the polyx has finished the surface, theres a totally waterproof finish anyway, so they don't appear to have needed this, but only time will tell....
Difficult to review not having any previous experience of this product and itâ₏™s effectiveness under use , in this case on oak in a bathroom environment. That can only be concluded when Iâ₏™ve seen the surface after a few months of use but generally I find Osmo products to be durable and effective.
This works so well underneath osmo topoil for kitchen worktops. Makes it so waterproof and the topoil then lasts so much longer.
I use this as a base coat prior to top oil in areas of wooden kitchen worktop subject to high water spillage next to an inset Belfast sink. I did not use it in initial application on new worktops but sanded back and used it on first maintenance. It is now routine for high moisture risk areas.
