Osmo Creative Starter Kit for iPad - Ages 5-10 (Osmo Base Included)

What a fun product! I brought this to my niece and nephew (ages 4 and 6) when I came to visit last, and it was a hit. They both are creative kids and love drawing, but I think almost any kid would be entertained by the Monster Game. In it, Mo the Monster asks kids to draw various things ings and puts together a fun show for them, using their own drawings! It's almost like a "be your own animator" kind of game. There are two other games as well, Newton, and Masterpiece that they enjoyed as well - but Monster was the real hit. The Creative Kit comes with a high-quality drawing board and markers as well as the Osmo Base and a cute fuzzy pouch. I highly recommend this product for any Pre-K, Kindergartener or 1st graders who love art, drawing, and being creative.

My boys who loves drawing and sketching. Monster Game take the kids through a journey where the character Mo takes kid's help in setting up his home, doing activities etc. This is such a great product. Easy to install and set up, packaged great, and the children love it. Very engaging. In kit includes Osmo base for ipad,monster game app,drawing board,dry erase marker (only one),and microfiber cleaning cloth. It will be awesome if they add more dry erase marker’s with different colors.and 2nd thing drawing board must be little bit big.otherwise it’s a great product for kids.

Can’t Use iPad Case

Very disappointed to discover that the Osmo base is not compatible with any iPad cases (except for one specific case sold by Osmo). What iPad activity for children is designed to preclude the use of a case to protect a $400+ tablet?! I am particularly frustrated that I was unable to confirm this compatibility (or lack thereof) until after purchasing the item and beginning the setup process. I knew it would be a dealbreaker for our family if we could not continue using our existing iPad case, and was unable to find any related documentation so I just assumed the base was adjustable. (Again, why would an iPad activity for children preclude the use of a case to protect the $400+ tablet?) We purchased the starter kit and it did seem feasible that the base was adjustable since it’s made of multiple parts, so we began the setup process assuming base adjustment instructions would be provided. None were, and tapping the in-app Help button at the base setup step revealed the following: “Currently, no iPad or Fire tablets work with Osmo, but we’re working on it.” If this was clearly communicated on the item packaging, or even readily researchable before purchase, I would understand. But it’s unreasonable that we were unable to learn this until after we had purchased the item, began the setup process (creating an account, downloading multiple apps, etc) and had access to the in-app help files. I have heard great things about Osmo from a friend who highly recommended it, so if the case compatibility issue is not a problem for your family, go for it! But it’s a disappointing dealbreaker for us.

Could be better

This device is ok. It was interesting to use when you use the app and the device together. However, the one thing my kid and didn’t like was how difficult to clean the white board this came with. I have the white board cleaner and still that didn’t work. I had to search what others had done to remove the left over marker that wouldn’t come off on the internet. And still they didn’t work! You would think for a pricey item the white board wouldn’t be so difficult to remove the marker stains. Not cool…

Fun activities for art lovers

My daughter loves to draw. I thought this would be fun for her. She played the monster app. She had a lot of fun interacting with the monster and seeing whatever she drew come to life. It’s a great way to be creative and use imagination. Plus it’s educational because she was learning new words. This was really easy to set up. Take everything out of the box and place your iPad on the stand. You just go to the App Store on your iPad and install the apps shown on the box. You will need internet access to to that. Then you open up the app and set up an account. Next your child chooses a profile picture and nickname. That’s it, your child can jump right into playing. The Osmo Creative Starter Kit is one of the best toys I have seen in a while. It is geared for kids ages 5-10 but even older kids as well as adults would have fun using it. The setup is very easy and only takes a few minutes to complete. My 11 year old was able to do this step. The game allows children to use their creativity and then bring it to life. Having this she has developed skills such as creating characters, different designs and the list goes on.
