Anti-Gravity system rocks!

I bought this pack to compare to an Aether 60 purchased in 2017. I was looking for a similar capacity pack, with a lower base weight with more modern features. After testing this pack out fully loaded for a desert backpacking trip, I believe the Atmos AG LT meets all of these requirements!Pros: The revised seamless hip belt completely eliminated the host spots I often experienced with the Aether. This is undoubtedly the most comfortable pack I've tried on. The torso adjustment system is so much easier than the older velcro system. Typical amazing Osprey build quality. Just the right amount of pockets and straps for my needs. Integrated rain shell compartment.Cons: The Anti-Gravity system sometimes can be a bit noisy. Nothing crazy, a squeak here or there. I'm looking forward to many awesome years with this pack!

This pack was a huge disappointment. The materials, workmanship, and light weight were all impeccable so its worth one star for that. However the most important aspect for any backpack, just like a pair if hiking shoes, is the fit. Or more properly, the way the pack carries. It should feel like its an integral part of your body. This pack is approved by some but it is difficult for me to see why. The pack carries off center, which is to say too far to the rear creating a feeling of being off balance and swaying like a poorly fitted external frame pack. The hip belt is integrated with the Lightwire frame and this further complicates matters because the weight of the pack with a rearward center of gravity puts major pressure on the front of the hips instead of bearing ... MoreThis pack was a huge disappointment. From the moment I tried it on, I loved it. The formed hip supports funnel all the weight onto your hips and pelvis and off of your shoulders. It is super easy to adjust on the trail to alter where the weight lands. I usually get headaches from carrying backpacks, as I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders anyhow and somehow, I actually felt better than usual while wearing this pack. It was so comfortable that I never dreaded putting my pack back on after a rest. I carried ~30 lbs and could it could have handled more. I had a friend who bought this pack too, and she said her anti-gravity suspension creaked when she walked. Mine did at first, but after putting weight in it, the creaking went away. The only thing I would change about this pack is the length of the adjustable part of the shoulder straps. I don't have much room to tighten the straps when I've just gotten them to not be loose. Overall, I consider this pack to be one of the best high-ticket purchasing decisions I've made in awhile.

This backpack is a real game-changer! I have always liked backpacking and have done it with different quality packs, but this purchase has made my backcountry trips much more pleasant. No bruised hips and sore shoulders. It is for sure a very featured pack, but the frame and suspended mesh back that what makes it so special. The key to picking the right pack is to try as many options as you can, compare, try packs with weight in them, and do not forget about size (I am not about volume, it is about torso lengths). If you are new to this, please always ask for help. At MEC, a backpack fitter is always available to assist you.Aura has been with me for more than a year, with trips up to 10 days in the wilderness, and no problems and no regrets! I absolutely like it!

First hiking backpack
16 March 2023

I bought this backpack after doing a lot of research because I wanted to make sure I got the most comfortable backpack available for my sore back. The weight was my concern considering other options at half the weight or less. So far the fit is amazing and I haven’t developed any sore areas from it. After walking awhile, I notice the weight less and less. I do have a few concerns 1. While it’s possible to reach back and pull the water bottle from the side mesh pocket, it’s very difficult to put it back in 2. The hip pocket zipper will not close all the way using one hand 3. The hip pockets are too far back to be useful 4. The sternum strap is in its lowest position but still feels way too close to my neck. Overall I am happy with this pack. I will review again after ... MoreI bought this backpack after doing a lot of research because I wanted to make sure I got the most comfortable backpack available for my sore back. Great backpack for 6’4” hiker
2 May 2023

I’m getting back into hiking and camping now that I’m retired. I researched lots of backpacks and then went to check them out at the REI store. I picked the Osprey and sure am glad I did. My wife and I did an overnight trip with a five mile hike up/down mountain to stay on top of the mountain. My wife has some life-long medical issues and a mile into the journey could no longer carry her pack, though she was good to hike. I loaded all her gear into my new Osprey pack, along with all my stuff. It was heavy but saved our trip. The Osprey was comfortable and transferred the weight to my hips - not shoulders - and hugged my back for balance. This was a trial by fire and the Osprey was tremendous. I’mso glad I got it.

Like it better than I thought I would
31 May 2022

I needed to replace my 15-year old Osprey backpack, which I LOVED because of the nice air-flow between the pack and my back. I was happy to see that the new version had the same mesh design, but was not convinced about the comfort of the stiff, molded hip belt when I tried it on in the store. I bought it anyway (couldn't find another brand I liked better). To my surprise, this model was a real improvement! Although it's not quite "anti-gravity", the hip belt really does focus the weight where it's the most comfortable for me (right on my lower back dimples), and I feel no weight on my shoulders (my old Osprey would pull on my shoulders, no matter how I adjusted the straps). The big downside to this belt is that it's hard to put on: you have to pry it open to get it ... MoreI needed to replace my 15-year old Osprey backpack, which I LOVED because of the nice air-flow between the pack and my back. The big downside to this belt is that it's hard to put on: you have to pry it open to get it around your waist. Finding a big rock to sit you and your pack on helps; if available, a friend's assistance also works. Another minor issue with the belt was some chafing in the front, but those spots toughened up by my second backpacking trip. Overall, I'm really happy with this pack!

So comfortable, so functional
5 September 2022

I bought this pack for a 7 day, 50mi trip in northern Yosemite in July. It was my first trip of more than two nights and I knew I'd need something more spacious than my Kyte 46. I took the time to get measured at REI and have the straps adjusted there with a pro on the spot. On the trail, it was hands-down the most comfortable pack I've ever worn (starting weight around 35lbs, around 27lb by the end of the trip). The hipbelt pockets are a bit stiff making it hard to get on and off, but that meant they were snug and secure while hiking. Every time I tossed the pack on my back, I announced "light as a feather!" and set off on the trail. That said, I got so hooked on longer multi-day hikes on this trip that now I'm looking for something lighter for future trips (Tahoe ... MoreI bought this pack for a 7 day, 50mi trip in northern Yosemite in July. I also found that 65L was probably more than I needed (I had nothing attached to the exterior of my pack, and had no trouble fitting all my stuff inside.) So, while I adored this pack on the trail, I may be returning it for something like the Eja 48.Overall: five stars in general, but four stars for my needs.
