Osprey did it again with Hikelite 18L Daypack! Perfect backpack to hit a trail or go around in the city. Do not be fooled by 18L - it can fit more stuff than other backpacks claiming more than 20L! Side pockets are holding even big and tall bottle very secure. Top pocket has enough space to fit a wallet, glasses case, keys and a granola bar. Water bladder compartment could be used for storing smaller items as well, if not used for water. The frame and the belt keep the weight off the shoulders and the mesh allow air to cool your back. It opens wide to allow for easy packing. I think it has all the day hiker can wish for.

This backpack is a dream come true for hot weather!The ventilated back panel and shoulder staps let me be very comfortable and make the dreaded sweaty back a souvenir from the past! The shoulder straps are also very well ventilated, so wearing this with a sweat wicking fast drying base layer really takes comfort up several notches during summer.The wire frame of the pack prevents it from packing small, but such is not the purpose of that pack.The included rain cover is also nice, and it can be taken out if not required. So let me first start off by saying that the reason this bag only gets 4 stars is because of the organization. They only give you 3 zippered compartments. The main, the small on on the top maybe large enough for a phone or eye glass case then the one on the bottom for the rain guard if you should even count that. But there all missing this awesome frame this is why in the end I went with the hike lite.To add some organization to the bag I purchased the Osprey UltraLight Zip Organizer and attached it to the top of the bag with some clips (See my photos). This gave me an great use of the top part of this bag and taking everything out of the front pouch that caused it to sag and not really look nice when the bag was empty. I will mostly be using this for travel and very light hiking I can fit 2 or 3 light jackets/hoddies or one heavy jacket with this set up. I hope this is helpful to some others.I hope osprey can make a combination of this and there travel bag that is also carry on sized. On most trips that don't involve hiking the backpack I bring will be with me almost all the time I would rather have one with a frame over one that can attach to my backpack. Most people rarely use this feature from what I found online. Give us a frame and pockets for our things!

I ordered this and the Osprey Daylite plus (from another store) and I don't totally love either one of them.I like the frame, the fit, the general size, and the pole loops at the bottom. This only has one smaller zipper compartment, just enough for keys and I'm not sure it's not even big enough for larger phones. I'd like to be able to get to my first aid kit, phone, money, etc. quickly without pulling everything out from the main compartment to get at whatever small things are stuffed in the bottom.So I like the extra zipper compartments and stuff section in the Daylite Plus, but I also regularly use poles and like the pole loops on the Hikelite.I might send then both back and keep looking.
This is SO NEARLY the perfect backpack but unfortunately I have to get rid of it because the side pockets are completely useless. They are so shallow near the front that as soon as you angle yourself even slightly forwards, (e.g. when hiking up or down a hill, tying your shoelaces etc) your water bottle falls out. I’ve destroyed three water bottles so far (including two metal ones and a notoriously indestructible Nalgene.) The rest of it is so great but it’s just not worth it for the constant destruction of water bottles.
I already have the Hikelite 32 litre. It’s super quality and has worked well for years. It holds a lot of stuff - enough for a long day hike. I bought the 18 litre version for my wife. Or it can be used when we don’t need to carry that much stuff. It still holds more than enough for a day hike.It’s super comfortable and it helps your back not getting too sweaty. The hip belt is almost unnecessary with this but you can detach it. There is a rain cover as a bonus.Highly recommended.
It is the perfect day pack for anyone who likes to use their own pouches (like me) for things that they carry every day. It doesn't have much organization options so don't get this one if that is what you need. I just toss in my own 3 little pouches and everything is organized perfectly for me. There is still room for a jacket, hat and gloves if needed and there is a little quick access pocket, too. The pack cinches down really well and the back panel and suspension system is the best that there is and actually sweat-proof. It is also really lite weight and I love the orange color. Love it!
This bag could be perfect for Disney or day hikes if they can fix some major issues. First the mesh will cause your shirt fabric to pill. This is very frustrating as it damages your clothes. Side pockets are not good a securing anything as there is no way to sinch the top. If you set the bag down everything will fall out. The main storage area could use some additional pockets to help organize smaller items. Last con is I am tall and the waist belt would line up above by belly button with the shoulder straps all the way out. The bag is light and the ventilation works very well. Overall I would not suggest this pack because of the issue with it damaging clothes.
I purchased this pack for a 10 day trip to the Utah parks. It was absolutely perfect! I used it as a carryon for my flight and was easily able to put it under the seat in front of me. I purchased a 3L water bladder that fit perfectly in the designated pocket with the tube coming through the space in the back, going through the loops in the front, and easily attaching in the front with the magnet. It was lightweight and extremely comfortable and the weight in the pack was evenly distributed. The ventilated Airspeed backpanel kept me comfortable and prevented a sweaty back. I didn't have any of the pilling of my shirts, as other reviewers mentioned. I find the pack ok. the good: suspended back panel is great, comfortable chest and waist straps, appreciate the sunglass pocketthe bad, if I put items in the side mesh pockets it is likely to fall out; Ive had keys, chapstick everything go flying out when hopping over wet areas during hikes; would be nice if they cinched tight or had a strap; also I find it difficult to load, its narrow and deep, also next time I would get something that lets me access small items easier; like phone or chapstick; which if I place in the side pockets are at risk for falling out
