It is very difficult to get an Osprey bladder in there (I'm using the narrower blue one) as the bladder is wider than the space, caused by the load lifter straps being in the way. Yes you can loosen the straps, or even remove them, but this is a faff. Also, the strap that supports the bladder has been sewn onto the soft flexible part of the bag rather than the stiff back support. This means when you have 1-2 kilos of water in there the weight pulls down and distorts the top the bag making it look a right mess.- No integrated rain cover.I've used this bag on two ultra challenges now, both were 100km continuous walks. They stow on the go worked well, I was frequently putting my poles back in the loops and found I could do this without even stopping or slowing down just by leaving the poles fully extended. The hip pockets were accessible and big enough for extra snacks. The bag didn't make my back too sweaty (I was expecting it to), being small and narrow probably helped this. And it was comfortable. I will be modifying the bladder support strap myself. It would be nice to have an integrated rain cover, I know their hiking specific bags have one, but this is not a big deal for me as I have a separate one from another bag, and I can leave it at home if the weather is great.

I have an older Talon 22 which I love! Wanted something a little larger (and with larger waist belt pockets). LOVE the size of the 26 and compared to the 22, the waist belt pockets are much more friendly! BUT, the bottom of the pack really digs into my lower back and it's sooo uncomfortable. I returned the Pro 30 for the same reason. I didn't know the re-design (which I guess happened several years ago??) applied to all their Talon packs. So, newer, not always better. Bummed!

I normally never leave reviews on products, but this is a great pack for day hikes. I use it for hikes anywhere between 3-30 mile day hikes. It holds everything I need while not having too much space left over or me needing more space. It has the perfect amount of pockets for organization but not too many where I forget where I put things. Hydration bladder is sold separately but I highly suggest it. Also, makes a decent travel bag for flights.

Great daypack for day hiking and biking
15 November 2022

I bought this for a six day REI supported bike ride through the Sonora Desert. I needed a pack to put snacks, camera and extra clothing in. I was lacking a backpack this size -- the packs I had were either too large or too small. This is the perfect size for day hikes and gravel / mountain bike and road rides where you need a few extra items to carry. It fits well, is very light and I love the bike helmet toggle so you can store your helmet when not in use. The bladder placement is also creative (between the back of the pack and the mesh backing) which leaves more space for items in the pack itself.

It is way to small to utilize for anything for me to be honest. I have tried using it for various things but the pocket being so small, it squeezes anything in there against my shoulder.

Hydration pouch needs redesign
31 August 2022

I recently took this pack on day hikes in Glacier NP and Grand Teton (roughly 50 miles in total hiking with this bag). It is a quality bag for day hikes and very comfortable once adjusted. My main issue with the pack is the badder design. I already had a 3L Osprey water bladder, so I chose this pack for brand/connection compatibility. However, I was very disappointed with how this pack held up when using the bladder feature. First off, the bladder is very hard to remove/insert into the hydration pack compartment— full or empty. Second, when full and tied in, the weight of the hydration pack causes the top of the backpack to collapse in on itself since the structure in this part of the pack is just some sort of firm board rather than connected to the frame. Needs Upper Compression Straps
5 December 2021

I really wanted to like this pack. But for my purposes (a mix of dayhiking and trailrunning), it was not functional. My main gripe is the lack of any upper compression straps. If you have the pack fully loaded, there's no issue. But if you have it 50-60% full, the lower (and only) compression strap does nothing to the upper half of the pack, leaving your bag's contents to flop up and down if you move any faster than a slow walk. For anyone looking to run with this bag, look elsewhere. Unless you know for a fact that you will fill it to 85%+ capacity every single time you use it, you will not have a good time.Another minor qualm: the pocket on the left chest strap is useless. Beyond that, it's a weird trapezoidel shape that can't really fit anything useful (maybe a lighter, or chapstick, but then you're not using 50% of the awkward space). It would be better if it wasn't there at all.

Really nice features
16 September 2022

Make sure you carefully measure yourself based on the size chart instructions and order the right size backpack. This is my first non-Amazon backpack, and the reason they're so comfortable is that they're fitted. I previously got a womens large of a different model and went with a L/XL here. This pack stands out for the variety of pockets available. There's a stretchy pocket out the back and another stretchy pocket on the shoulder strap (if you want to stow a snack, small bottle, etc. Not sure this would fit a phone). There's a zippered pocket on the inside with a key ring. And finally there's a zippered top pocket, similar to a goggle pocket on a ski touring pack. Finally, I'm really stoked there's two side hip strap pockets.

Slim, comfortable and excellent fit
5 January 2022

The Osprey Talon 22 is the Cadillac of day packs. It is supremely adjustable for a precise fit and holds enough for winter season excursions into the backcountry, full rain gear, down jacket and pants just in case. The frame sheet is very supportive so this will handle a good load of water and all the food I need. It hugs my back and rides so well I just forget about it while hiking rough routes and off trail explorations. Take a sit pad and lean the Talon against a rock or bank and it makes a comfortable ground chair. The color design is much improved and looks exceptionally good. Osprey builds some amazing packs. I have a Talon 36 and an Osprey Aether 60 as well and have only complements for the fit and comfort.

Versatile option
27 May 2018

I have the Talon 18, but I needed something a bit bigger for day hikes to have more space for outer layers, food, etc. This pack is better than my 18 as it seems to have more room to fit my water bladder, has the lid lock option, while the zipper to main compartment offers better access for storage/retrieval. My favourite thing about this pack is it's versatility. I can use it for hiking, biking, and my urban or vacation travel. There are a few downsides to the pack of note. First, it fits on the smaller side as the hip belt sits higher up than other osprey models. This should be kept in mind before purchasing if one has a longer torso. I'm 6' 0'' and went with the M/L after some research and it is a comfortable enough fit. But this was not a deal breaker for me as I am generally willing to sacrifice weight for versatile features. Third, the green colour was brighter than I anticipated. The lighter shade is verging on florescent green, but, again, not a deal breaker. It will aid in visibility when hiking/biking on busy trails. Last, it does not come with a rain cover, although this does not directly affect me as I already have a separate cover for my Talon 18 which seems to fit the Talon 22 stuffed with gear after an initial testing. Overall, a very comfortable, versatile pack. The positives outweigh the downsides for me. I have 4 other osprey packs at different sizes and for different uses and I expect this pack to last for years like the others.
