All the bells and whisltes in a smaller size

Love this backpack. Has all of the adjustability of larger backpacks without the bulk. Great day pack. Fit a couple water bottles (has a compartment on each the side), jacket, food, water filter, flashlights, and a hat. It has a compartment for sunglasses or valuables but it's not felt, so if you do store sunglasses in there make sure you bring it's own bag to store in there to avoid scratching the lenses. I'm 5'10, 220lbs and the L/XL size worked great for me. Just finished a longer hike in Yosemite and no lower back or shoulder issues.

I love outdoor gear so spent way too much time researching day packs before settling on this one, hardest part was deciding whether to go with the 20 or 30 litre version as the 30 looked too big but the 20 sounded too small. I ended up going with the 20 which feels like it has a generous amount of room for 20 litres. The big thing that sold me on this was the adjustability, not only do you have the choice of two sizes but you can also adjust the back length further with the Velcro adjuster, so dialling in comfort is super easy. It also has a super easy opening and a reasonable number of internal pockets for organization. Love this little pack and I think it will easily live up to the osprey reputation

I don't normally give product reviews but when I was deciding on this pack there were hardly any reviews out so I wanted to add my own to the mix to help people deciding in the future. I've only used this pack for hiking so far but I believe it will be a great multi-sport option.Fit:True to size. My torso is roughly 19" but I went with the large. I have the back panel nearly as low as it goes and it fits great. The pack is quite narrow which was a big plus for me and fits close to the body. The straps can be adjusted for normal, comfortable, hiking or can be quickly tightened to really secure the bag to you for tighter movements or sports. When I've really tightened the straps the bag does not move when jogging or traversing obstacles.Likes:Close, secure fit. ... MoreI don't normally give product reviews but when I was deciding on this pack there were hardly any reviews out so I wanted to add my own to the mix to help people deciding in the future. Redesigned hiking pole attachment system. Hip pocket can fit my Samsung S20FE. All the usual Osprey features. Buttoned front strap pockets - yes people rip on them but I use one to hold a pen for geocaching and the other I sometimes stick an arm of my sunglasses in and its yet to fall out; being able to close the pocket is better than traditional open bungee designs.Dislikes:Front strap button pockets pop open easily if you have something large closed in them (my knife). Price. I'm a sweaty hiker and my lower back and chest under the straps still gets quite hot and sweaty - it is quite a bit better than other packs I've had but worth noting (the pack does not touch the rest of my back so that area is great).Compared to the original Talon 22:I briefly had the old Talon 22 with the floppy back and found the fit wasn't the best for me. Plus with the wider design it looked like I was wearing a turtle shell. While the Pro is supposed to be more durable I think they are both durable enough that you wouldn't notice a difference. The main differences I found were: Different design and fit (main difference), buttoned strap pockets (useful for me), redesigned hiking pole attachment (no more hard plastic loop in front of you), stowable ice axe loops (nice to not have them flopping around when not used), price.I love this pack and with the lifetime warranty I plan on using it for many sports for a very long time. With that in mind I think the price can be justified but there is no doubt that it's way too expensive. I think for skinny people the narrow design alone justifies this version over the original, unless the new hard back version of the original is different than the older design that I had tried. I hope this helps some people, happy hiking

Good and bad
26 May 2022

I’ve had a previous version of the Talon 22. Loved the pack and figured the upgrades to the pro looked good. I do like the fabric, durability, and the way it carries. But…and it’s a big “but”… I can no longer reach anything in the side pockets. Too far back since the pack is narrowed and taller so can’t contort my arms to get anything in or get it out. I pretty much have to remove the pack which is way too much work and inconvenience.I’ve tried and tried but will probably have to return it; just lost so much functionality. In addition the hip belt pockets are the same size but a non-stretchy material. So also harder to use; should have used more fabric to compensate for the no stretch.

Great Small Pack for Everything
5 June 2023

I got this about a month ago to replace my Hikelite 26 (sent back to see if Osprey can repair). I loved my old pack, but this one is amazing. It is light, perfect for a grab-and-go bag with everything you need for short hikes (or longer ultralight). Things I like better than my old pack: It doesn't fall over when you lean against the wall/tree. This pack as a more robust hip-belt, but is still super packable and has useful pouches on the belt. The helmet holder is great, but isn't obtrusive if you aren't using it, This pack has 2 top pouches, one accessible right from the top, the other from inside the main compartment (better for organization then the single one on my old pack), the water bottle holders on the sides hold my Nalgene's without them falling out ... MoreI got this about a month ago to replace my Hikelite 26 (sent back to see if Osprey can repair). The only thing I miss from my old pack is the included rain cover with it's own pouch at the bottom. With that being said, the new pack is water resistant and you can toss in a rain-cover when needed... The only thing I'm still getting used to on the new pack is that it is more vertically oriented, so you have to stack stuff differently inside and the side zippers don't go down super low, so it can sometimes be hard to get to the stuff on the bottom. Also, I have a really long torso, and the tall version with the adjustable back panel is amazing.

Look around
27 June 2021

I bought this talon pro 20 about a month ago and have use it for general use since then. This is the third osprey bag that I have owned. I prefer the previous generation shoulder straps that were more breathable and suitable for hot weather. The shoulder straps in the overall fit is excellent nevertheless. The other cinch straps and so forth are minimal in weight which goes along with the pro line. what surprises me is how baggy the top of the bag is: there’s no way to cinch down the top and it doesn’t fit snugly against the bag wins it up unlike other Osprey town bags of the past. Especially for a pro version of this surprises me and is why I can only rate two stars.

Fairly pricey pack, but good deal from Epicentre. I really like this pack - very comfortable and substantially more durable than the standard Talon 22. I like the twin pole/axe loops rather than the normal stow-on-the-go loop and the YKK 'sealed' zips make the pack extra water-resistant. The couple of litres less volume is barely noticeable and I find there's still plenty of space for for my gear even on my longest winter day hikes. I was after a slimmed-down, more rugged version of my faithful Talon 22 for all-year-round day hiking and that is exactly what this pack is. I see it lasting many years and for me, its certainly worth the extra money.

There are many reviews of this and the Talon series on the web. I got this day hike pack to replace an older 30l which did not fit me well. I find the quality of construction, features and figment of the Talon and T-Pro packs top notch. Durability TBD but given the other reviews out there I am not worried! Easy to recommend if you can deal with he cost!

The pack is great. Hugs you well. Pockets variety, size and features. Good fabrics. The only downer but not so much is that the top too small privacy pockets can only take thin sized items. An example of that is putting your glasses in one and your wallet in the other. If you do that you should have your glasses in a case so they don't get crushed. Which is what I do but as I said those pockets are limited in space. The two mesh pockets on the shoulder straps cannot hold much as well so much so that the button that shuts it closed can easily get undone. But what I saw from another reviewer is that it's best to be used as a small garbage pockets.

Very good
25 June 2021

Purchased this bag for an endurance hike and also for summer use. Overall it is a very good bag perfect for warm weather treking with plenty of space if you don't need to worry about carrying layers. It can get filled up pretty quick if you have layers to carry as well as cook systems but over all its perfect for what I need it for.It was used for 12hrs in 20'c weather with no complaints what so ever. No chaffing or sore points from it. Easily Carried all the safety kit I needed plus food, water and treking poles on the outside.Only negative is no inbuilt rain cover. Yes material is water resistant but having a rain cover would of been the icing on the cake.
