Decent But Requires Extra Protection

I used two of these dry sacks for my thru hike and did have continual moisture leakage at the seams of the sack. I ended up having to re-enforce the bag using a contractor bag, which felt like it defeated the purpose. I'd say it works for short periods of water exposure, but don't rely on it to keep your sleeping bag dry while backpacking in rainy season. I'm returning these to try another brand.

Exactly what I expected from Osprey

I have multiple Osprey backpacks, and needed a few dry sacks to help with organizing and also keeping inside items dry. The Ultralight Dry Sack is exactly what I expected - tough and very lightweight material. Another great product from Osprey. Definitely going to buy a few more!

Excellent piece of equipment.

Bought several different sizes and colors of these drybags. This one, 6L version weighs 32g. So far I am very satisfied with every aspect of them. Though I must say that I have (luckily I´d say) yet to get any of them wet. - The fabric feels truly sturdy and high quality. - Stitchings are precise and the seams are thoroughly glued / taped. - I enjoy the straps on the outside on the bottoms for easy hanging upside down or fast emptying of the bags. - The plastic buckle feels like very high quality and since it´s branded YKK I trust my judgment even more. What confuses me slightly is that the buckle seems to be facing the wrong way for whatever reason, but maybe I am missing something, and whatever the reason is it does not affect anything in a negative way .. apart ... MoreBought several different sizes and colors of these drybags. I would recommend these bags any day and I will be editing this review if my opinion changes.u

Gotta Love It
19 July 2021

I have grown to hate stuff sacks. They coat the fabric with a PU coating. After 4 or 5 years the coating deteriorates. It gets sticky. Drawstrings stop working. The bag becomes worthless. Osprey bags don't have the PU coating, they use the Silnylon fabric. I have had one for several years with no issues. These are all I will buy from now on. I have a stuff sack from the late 80's that had no coating and no water proofing. It holds my stove and fuel bottle. It is over 30 years old and works fine. Will Osprey last that long? Check back with me when I reach 90.

Great bag...just not the greatest
20 October 2019

I bought this bag as well as the 6L size to keep my keys and phone dry when I go White Water kayaking. I stuff them in my clam shell pocket on my PFD and off I go. When I take my phone out of the bag, it seems there is a little bit of water in it. Not a whole lot mind you, but enough to have droplets of water on my phone when I took it out to take pictures. My phone is water "resistant" so the little water that goes in does not ruin it at all.Now there is the question of durability...it's not the greatest. Material is really thin which is great for weight savings but makes it pretty easy for tears to take place. Sure, I could've better stored it in the trunk of my car but now I have a hole at the bottom. It is a tiny hole but noticeable enough when you roll up the ... MoreI bought this bag as well as the 6L size to keep my keys and phone dry when I go White Water kayaking. It is a tiny hole but noticeable enough when you roll up the seal and squish it to test for air tightness.Probably fixable with a patch kit which I will take care of soon.Overall though, this bag gives me piece of mind when I bring my electronics out with me. The cons don't necessarily outweigh the pros and as long as you keep up with minor tears, the bag will treat you just fine as it did me.

Great for water sports

The waterproof bag comes in various sizes and colours so you will definitely find something that suits your needs. The thick cardboard packaging ensures that your item will not be damaged during delivery. The product is of good quality, and is one of the least ugly ones out there. Ospery also has a good distribution channel so it is comparatively easier to find and order in.

It will work but I would prefer it to more rugged
30 May 2023

I bought this bag for bear bagging my food in the Canadian Rockies. I chose this model for the colour more than anything, at the time of my purchase it was the only stuff sac available in orange, food is orange… anyway it’s well made and weights almost nothing, I would have preferred something a bit more rugged, I will have to be careful when I load pots and pans in it. The ripstop crosshatch pattern is vey tight so if a hole should form it should stay small.

Organizes, compresses and keeps your stuff dry!

About three years ago I was traveling for work and had my company laptop in my carry-on bag. I was exhausted and decided to throw my bag up in the overhead compartment for the flight so I had as much room as possible to get a few hours of sleep in. Fast forward to landing at my destination - I opened the overhead compartment to find that someone's Nalgene had opened up during the flight and flooded the overhead bin - my bag was soaked, as was my laptop. Despite drying it out in the hotel - I was without a laptop for my trip, and I had a mound of paper work to file when I got back explaining the situation! I purchased the 12L dry sack bag to travel with going forward (it fits a 13in laptop perfectly!) - and never have to worry again about water or moisture problems. Since that incident, I've purchased 15 more of these bags in various colors and sizes. I use them in hiking packs to keep my items (rain gear, cold gear, outer layers) compressed and organized/easily identifiable by color. When you roll the top down and snap the bag closed, it will form a loop that you can use to hang the bag by (see picture), but there's also a small loop on the bottom of the bag that can be used for the same purpose (see picture). I've used the smaller sizes to store liquids (shampoo, soap, etc) in while traveling. These wash out well when something does spill inside - and dry out quickly. Just shake and the water molecules fall right off. I also keep one of these in a suede purse that I use from time to time that was passed down from my grandmother after she died. I can throw the whole purse in the dry bag if I'm caught off guard by the weather. A little much, I know - but I don't ever want anything to happen to that purse, and I know it won't while it's in this bag! They are light, compact and will protect your gear, bottom line.

Our favorite choice for backpacking
28 February 2022

We have a number of different waterproof storage bags with distinct fabrics, including rubber-coated or treated nylon, lined polyester, and expensive Dyneema, but these Osprey UL dry sacks are our consistent choice for rainy backpacking trips. The 40D ripstop nylon is lightweight, but if you tend to abuse your pack contents or don't properly stow sharp or abrasive gear, this fabric might fray or puncture. This design isn't made to compete with heavy, coated river rafting dry sacks, but it's perfect for stowing and organizing spare clothing or food inside your pack--essentials you want dry when you arrive at camp.
