I only gave it 4 stars because of how I like to wear my phone in the holster. I prefer the holster to be on my right hip because I am right handed. I have always kept my phone there horizontally with the top facing forward, so when I take it from the holster I can bring it right up to my ear to talk. However, partly due to the design of my iPhone 16 Pro, it does not feel secure in the holster in that orientation. I had to put it with the bottom of the phone facing the front, which forces me to have to flip it around as I remove it from the holster to use the phone. That is less of an OtterBox issue, and more of an iPhone issue.

I love Otterbox phone covers. In my opinion they are the absolute best in protection. As with my previous phone covers I really like this one as well. I do have two little points I’d like to make though. First of all I wish they could have designed it to cover the new camera button. Secondly, I would like for the cases to go back to being a little thicker the way they were on the iPhone 11’s and older. Mainly thicker or taller on the front to protect the screens and/or front of the phone a little better. They are still very very good cases though and I fully endorse them.

Great case as usual. I’ve used Otterbox defender cases exclusively for years. Have dropped phones dozens of time and have never damaged a phone or case.This new iPhone 16 pro case fits as well as always. Seems to be the usual great quality. Only one draw back. The case is notched out for the new camera button on the lower right side, exposing the bottom. I don’t see any way around it though as the button, in addition to pushing, senses heptic touch and sliding motions. So, if it were covered a lot of the functionality of the button would be lost. So, I get it. That being said I can’t ding Otterbox for that.Overall a great case. Very substantial. I’d buy it again.

I’m most please by the addition to the defender series case with the addition of the mag safe. I’ve had several defender cases throughout the years and the little cover piece for the charging port always seems to wear out first, often falling out and getting lost. With this new case, I don’t have that problem as I was able to transition to MagSafe charging. My only concern is the little notch where the new camera button is. I know I’m going to drop the phone and something will eventually break that button, but I know why it’s there, as the button is touch sensitive.
I just upgraded to the 16 Pro from the 11 Pro Max and I also had a Defender case on my 11 Pro Max… but this new Defender case for the 16 Pro just feels cheaper and less protective. The protective bezels don’t feel as raised as they used to be and there isn’t even a protective button for the new camera button. The camera button is just exposed with ZERO protection. I understand that designs change over time… but this case just doesn’t have that classic Otterbox feel that I came to expect. Bummer.
The case itself is nice and protects the phone. Except for the notch cut out for the camera button on the side. I had this phone 4 days and dropped it from my hand to the floor. The screen protector was immediately cracked at the notch. There is simply zero protection at the notch cut out. I will be getting a different case as I keep phones 2-3 years and will not be replacing screen protectors on a constant basis.
Not sure if I like that the new iPhone Defender case does not wrap around a button on the lower right side. Kind of cool looking design, and I imagine its because this button might be hard to press if completely surrounded by the plastic inner case and the rubber outer case. Still, I assume they've tested the new design's ability to still provide the outstanding protection it always has offered. No phone gets used for my family until it is protected by an Otterbox!
This is the second OtterBox I’ve had. The first was for my IPhone 14pro. It was different - more designer than protective in the Symmetry line. But still a good case. The new case I just got for my 16Pro is a heavier duty case with a grip texture. The DEFENDER PRO MAGSAFE IPHONE 16 PRO in DENVER DUSK and I love it! Although, it’s heavier duty, it’s still sleek and good looking and probably more protective than my first case from OtterBox.
I am highly disappointed in my overall purchase with OtterBox hundreds of dollars and needing to exchange one phone case that wouldn’t fit the phone as it was the incorrect purchase but could never get an answer. When I called their customer service, every single time I was 30th to 40th in line and had an estimated wait time of 45 minutes to a hour. Tried reaching out online and nothing. To top it off, the defender is not really a well built case for users and in particular the issue is when you’re trying to drop down your notifications on your phone at the top it doesn’t allow that because the cover is too thick and it overlaps the ability to pull down your phone notifications easily. Before getting my Iphone 16, I had an Iphone 7 and it was protected with an OtterBox Defender. Never had an incident when I dropped my phone that it cracked or shattered. In fact, the cell phone provider could not believe how NEW my Iphone 7 looked. Working in the field, you definitely need to protect an investment such as your phone. I always depended on OtterBox to give me a piece of mind that if I drop my phone in the field, it would not brake or crack. The only draw back on this case, is that the screen is not protected by another plastic screen. In which I was alright with, considered that the plastic screen would scratch up or become dull.
