OtterBox Defender Rugged Carrying Case (Holster) A

I had a 5s iPhone that was dropped a lot during the five years that I used it until the battery swelled and I needed to replace the phone with a newer SE model. An Otterbox Defender Series protection case was purchased with that phone and it protected the phone to look like new when I finally replaced it. I had no hesitation to purchase another Defender Series to protect the new SE phone. This case is a rugged and hefty case that comes with a plastic screen protector built in so that you don't have to buy one separately. It has fairly thick rubber and feels substantial in your hand, but doesn't add a lot of weight to the phone. The case is easy to open if dust gets under it to clean the phone (and the case itself), but that doesn't happen too often since the ... MoreI had a 5s iPhone that was dropped a lot during the five years that I used it until the battery swelled and I needed to replace the phone with a newer SE model. It has fairly thick rubber and feels substantial in your hand, but doesn't add a lot of weight to the phone. The case is easy to open if dust gets under it to clean the phone (and the case itself), but that doesn't happen too often since the Defender case is very snug and protects the phone. The case buttons align perfectly to the iPhone buttons and the connection ports. I used the included belt clip/stand that came with the old case and that plastic clip broke about a year into owning the phone while I was walking down an airport terminal dropping the phone to the hard tile floor, but the phone was well protected during the fall. Otterbox replaced that belt clip/stand for free and it again lasted about another year or so before the clip broke again. I really didn't need to use the clip anymore, but it does make a decent stand for the phone. The clip just has a weak point in the plastic that fatigues after some time of use. After five years the older case was suffering from some fatigue and stretch on the rubber, but that's a lot of use over time. The new case is virtually the same as the older one with a few slight changes to accommodate the different style of the newer iPhone. The protection covers for the charging port and the sound switch have thicker rubber which is good. The case is thick enough to protect the camera lens on the back, cleans easily and has already protected the phone from a few drops. I have the black color just because it shows less damage marks or wear. I hope that it will last as long as the previous case and so far, after a month or two, it's been doing a great job. Nothing in the plastic or rubber appears to degrade the signal on the phone. I definitely recommend this case if you are rough on your phone and want good protection.

This is the second Otter Box Defender I have purchased. An excellent product that does what it is claimed to do. This product gives you something to hold on to. You feel your phone is protected. I have used my original one for about three years. My only concern with the Defender for the IPhone SE G2 is the on/off switch is hard to use. You almost have to use a vice grip hold on the phone to turn it on/off. It may loosen up with more use. But, for the protection afforded and overall comfort of using the phone encased in the Defender, I can live with this minor problem. The defender may not be stylish, but I value the protection of my phone over style! I recommend this product for the IPhone SE G2.

This is the third or fourth Defender case I've owned. The second one for this phone. The case offers excellent protection for my iPhone. A couple of things that could be improved, however: 1. the screen. Like all plastics, it gets scratched and marred over time. It is not designed to be replaced. Removing it is time-consuming, you also have to clean the adhesive from the inside of the case, and unless you find something to replace it, the phone does not fit as snugly in the case. 2. The outer case. It stretches out over time. Not radically, but after 2 or so years of use, the sides and corners can slip off of the inner case regularly. 3. The outlet flaps. I don't know any solution to this one. On my last case, I simply cut and removed the flap to the charger in ... MoreThis is the third or fourth Defender case I've owned. Very disappointed. I have been an Otterbox user for many years. I have always used a defender case and it has always protected my phone...until recently. I just put a brand new defender case on my iPhone about 2 weeks ago. Last night I dropped the phone (in the case), it hit my shoe and then bounced onto the ground on the upper right corner...No biggie right? It's in an Otterbox Deffender case! WRONG, it cracked my screen in the upper corner. Just to reiterate, it landed on the corner/side, not the screen. I wish I could recommend this case again, however I will be looking for something stronger...like the otterbox used to be.
Much lower quality than previous OtterBox cases. The hard plastic is cheaper and the mold isn’t flush against my phone edges, especially at the home button. As a result it catches on things including my thumbs. The soft part of the case was also cheaper and could clearly see deformities from the molding process. Also the charging/earbud port flap is already ripping off less than a month of use. Makes me nervous about the over all claims that OtterBox says about the shock resistance and if it can actually effectively protect my phone like previous OtterBox cases again.
I have had OtterBox Defender cases over several years. They have been durable and functional. I spend a great deal of time working on projects indoors and outdoors as well as ride motorcycles and snowmobiles subjecting them to the elements. Needless to say, I have also dropped the phone on occasion without damage to the phone. Once I dropped the case and phone during a 33 inch snowstorm. The phone was found in a stone wall about a month later. After charging, the phone worked perfectly. This was due to the covers on the openings for the charger and the switch to silence the ringer. Usually any moisture getting into those area render the phones useless. It truly was a Defender. Recently I decided to try a refurbished case and was surprised with the quality of the ... MoreI have had OtterBox Defender cases over several years. They have been durable and functional. I bought this around five years ago when I first got my iPhone 8, and honestly I didn’t like it. Bulky, ugly, stretched the pockets on my jeans…etc. Then one day at work my phone fell out of my apron pocket and I ran over the darn thing with a pallet of yams well over 1,000lbs. Not a scratch on it! The bottom left corner cracked and lost some pieces, and the rubber there was torn, but the phone? Completely unharmed. I now love this hideous thing and recommend it to anyone who also tends to be clumsy at work or around heavy machinery. Now if only they’d start selling steel-toed boots, because my foot some years back was not so lucky in coming out unscathed…
Otterbox defender for the win! I strongly encourage all in my circle to get / use this case. It really does protect your phone. My mom & bff thought I was nuts when i tossed my phone across the room, but that showed how good it is. The both swear by it as well. Kids were required to keep it on thier phones, now they do it to protect the $ they spent on phone. I started with iphone 5? On my 3rd phone now & got complimented on its like new appearance.
I had a Otterbox cover for my first iPhone (a 5s) and found it to be the absolute best cover for protecting a smart phone of any kind from accidental damage. When I updated my iPhone to an SE there was no question I wanted an Otterbox cover for it. The SE is thinner than the 5s and more likely to be damaged so I got the Otterbox Defender for it. It is not the easiest one to install but once it is it's well protected from any accidental damage. I highly recommend Otterbox for any brand or model smartphone.
I assumed too much when I read the description that it stops dirt, dust and lint from getting into jacks and ports. It does, but it doesn't do much to prevent dirt and dust from getting under screen protector. Sharing so others don't make the same mistake. The opening at the top of the screen (for the camera + mic) has no protector over it, so dust and dirt get under easily and all over the screen. There is also no protector over the opening for the camera in the back. This case isn't suitable for my dusty work environment.
