I used Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream, but they recently changed their formula and I had to find something new. I really like this cream, but only on freshly washed hair. After washing, I comb it through, scrunch my hair, then add a gel and I get more compliments on my curls than I ever had. It makes my curls silky soft and bouncy. Very defined. But day 2-3 is another story. My usual routine is to spritz my hair with a mix of water and conditioner and then add my curl cream to help revitalize and define curls. I lived with it for a few years and decided to start growing it out. Short story long, I thought I’d start trying some new products to see if I could vsco on the curl back. Not only does it smell delicious (but not overbearing), it really kicked those curls back into gear! I have to use a little more than I normally would, because about 2/3’s of my hair is still bleached, but with some scrunching and a little sprayed water to reinvigorate the curl on the dats after the first style, I can get a good 2c going and have it last for days! On the first day I can obviously feel the product in my hair a little, but it’s not sticky and it’s not heavy, which is most important. It really has been a game-changer and given mr my old confidence back, as I never really felt like “me” when I didn’t have these curls. They’re my thing 😁 Truly, give it a go, it’s an excellent product, especially if you’re like me and have difficulty really getting that definition due to bleach and/or overly dry hair. Oh! It isn’t drying, either, but I’d still suggest a little serum for shine, as it doesn’t get weighed down by using more than o e product, and I have quite thick hair ☺️✨

Let me start out by saying that this creme is a trial and error product. You have to try different methods in order to get it to work with your hair. I've had this product for a few months now, but have been holding off a review because I could not get it to work with my hair. Instead of throwing it out, I decided to give it a few more chances. At the time, OUAI was promoting a creme set that came with the fragrance and non - so I had two! The bottles are big too, so I knew I could play around more - I did not want to give up on this product. I asked their CS team if it could work well with wavy hair, and they said yes - it is also advertised on the bottle. There aren't many tutorials with this creme and wavy hair though. I found this product works best when I deep condition my hair, comb out in the shower, then wrap my hair in a microfiber towel. I finish my body care/make up routine, then gently let my hair down without disturbing the waves. I start out by a dime size amount and gently work into my hair then scrunch. I repeat; adding more product as needed. My hair is so soft once dried and waves are enhanced, no frizz, and it is not heavy on my hair at all. It's almost like there's nothing in it but it smells amazing.Don't give up on this product if you are having trouble. Experiment - one thing I wanna add, air drying works best!

This product smells really lovely but I've struggled to get on with it. I have naturally coily curly hair (dark blonde, fine but lots of it) and will dry my hair with a diffuser or using the CG method. This creme gives definition and separates nicely but is incredibly rich. You really only need a very small amount otherwise, on me, it makes my hair look greasy and is difficult to manage. Because the tube is so big, it's tempting to think you need a good dollop but I would say start small and then add a second time if needed. There are definitely better products for me but if you have curly hair, you'll already know that we all need different products as curly hair is so diverse.

Blonde with 3B-3C curls

I have tried so many curl products over the years and this is definitely in my top 3. Since I have started using it, my curls are much healthier and less frizzy. It's hard to find a product that can find the balance between not heavy enough and too heavy when it comes to my hair type. I'm Caucasian with fine hair and 3B to 3C curls. I get my hair hi-lighted every 2 months and so it is safe to say my hair is damaged and prone to breaking. This stuff keeps it feeling bouncy and supple. I have a hard time keeping my hands out of my curls because they turn out so springy and soft. A little goes a long way, don't over-apply, and as always for curlies, make sure your hair is SOPPING wet. I tried the OUAI Curl Crème Fragrance Free and have mixed feelings. It's great for sensitive skin, as it's fragrance-free and doesn't clash with other scents. The creamy consistency is easy to apply and moisturizes curls without leaving a greasy residue. However, it lacks a strong hold and the effects diminish throughout the day. For looser curls, it's worth a try, but those needing long-lasting definition may need to layer it with another product. It's on the pricier side, but a little goes a long way.

After having tons of styling products, and having bad experiences with most of them, either do to them being irritating to my scalp or highly fragranced. Or, so many times, either leaving my hair overly weighed down or crunchy, I actually was super happy when I came upon this product and I really liked that it is fragrance free, is Shea butter free, is silicone free, and had 2 of my all time favorite ingredients for my hair ever which is Coconut oil and glycerin. My hair is naturally very dry and these 2 ingredients are the best I have found with helping remedy that. Also, I was looking for a product that would be a “one and done” for me. Simply because I like to keep my hair styling routine as easy breezy as possible and also layering products on my hair causes a lot of excess buildup for me. So, after trying this product on my hair after the first time, I totally fell in love with it. It leaves my hair feeling soft, it has absolutely no scent to it whatsoever (which I super appreciate) it has a sort of thick creamy consistency to it, but spreads easily Uni the hair, a little bit does go a very long way with it, so there’s no need to apply tons of it to see results. Plus, it give my hair control, but it’s such a pleasant light hold that I would rather take over crunch looking and feeling hair any day. I do apply it on my wash days on very soaking wet hair, in sections. I take a section of hair at a time, apply this curl cream from root to end, and then use my Denman brush to properly detangle that section afterwards, before I then move on to another. I do let my hair airdry. I can successfully refresh my hair with thus curl cream in between wash days with 0 problems. If you want to add lots of volume, finger style only, scrunch the ends of your hair going upwards for a bit. If you need more hold, or curl control you can always apply a gel, foam, mousse, over it for sure. Enjoy!

Not good for fine curls
26 August 2022

I have fine hair that's a mixture of waves and curls. I had such high hopes for this product. I didn't find that it "melted" into my hands so often smaller sections of my hair were getting a lot of concentration of the product. As soon as I applied it I could see it was weighing my hair down (I applied to damp hair) as my roots were flattened and my curl pattern started much lower down my hair. It does dry crunchy but I was able to scrunch that out. It doesn't really have any hold and my curls very quickly dropped out. I think this product is much more suitable for coarser, thicker hair than my own. It does smell lovely though, just a shame to waste so much as a travel/sample size isn't available.

This is my new holy grail leave in! I have curly, somewhat fine but dry hair..in the 3c-4a category. A little bit of this goes a long way. I use about half the amount as I would of a lot of other leave in conditioners or creams -- it's a really thick product so I usually emulsify about a quarter sized amount or slightly less in my palms with some water so it spreads easier and use it on pretty wet hair. Definitely need to set with a gel to get definition if you want that. Also really good as a base layer for sleeked styles, especially if you have a sensitive scalp that gets irritated by heavily fragranced products or ingredients in other moisturizing leave ins.
