Another great product from the Ferrosi line. I have older Ferrosi shorts, pants and jackets. They are some of the best products for travelling! These are a great longer length short for us taller guys. They will be great for both hiking and when on the bike, as they come down to just above the knee and are super durable. Be aware of sizing though. They have a stretchy waistband, so I had to return my normal size for one size down for a proper fit. Also be aware that the new Ferrosi 10" shorts do not have the stretchy waistband, so they fit much tighter in the waist. I now have to return the 3 pairs of 10" shorts for a larger size, which is a pain since you have to pay for return shipping. A suggestion to OR would be to either have the shorts fit the same in the ... MoreAnother great product from the Ferrosi line. I have older Ferrosi shorts, pants and jackets. When I called customer service, I was told this was a known issue, so it could have been handled better. Other than that, they are a fantastic short and I'm looking forward to getting more of them.

After getting the mailer about the updated ferrosi collection, I was excited to try out shorts that would fit higher than my three-quarter pants. It turns out they don't play well with kneepads and I don't have particularly long legs so I'm not sure how they got the photo of the model getting full coverage. Totally fine for easy Peezy bike path rides but not for a lot of the stuff I ride here. Fantastic fabric, very good waistband, and easy to use with a belt. They seem to be durable and snag resistant, so I'm sure I will get a tremendous amount of use but not as a cycling overshort.

I was excited to receive these shorts. The reviews were all accurate with regard to quality. I am a long-time buyer of OR products and I have always appreciated the quality that goes into their products. These shorts are no exception. Solid quality, very good construction, and very close attention to detail. I really wish I could have kept these shorts.Sadly, these shorts fit very oddly. Just as many of the other reviews had stated, OR must have changed the model for the construction of these shorts. I have always worn a size 36x32 and have several pairs of pants by OR. While I have gained about 15-20 llbs over the past year, my ferrosi pants, size 32, still fit almost perfectly, just a little tighter in the waist. These shorts, however, were difficult to button ... While I have gained about 15-20 llbs over the past year, my ferrosi pants, size 32, still fit almost perfectly, just a little tighter in the waist. These shorts, however, were difficult to button at the waist, and, more importantly, I couldn't wear them comfortably because they squeezed my hips and had no space in the crotch. For reference, I have a big runner's butt and most of my pants, in general, wear a little on the tight side around my butt/hips area. These shorts, however, even with the great stretch, I could barely get on, let alone wear for a whole day or longer. I tried these on twice in two days and repackaged them and sent them back.Once I've lost some of my COVID weight, I'll retry these shorts, but I sincerely hope OR fixes how tight they are in the hips/crotch because I'm not sure losing a little weight is going to free up that much space in the hips/crotch region. I would recommend to a friend, as long as you are super skinny and don't have a big butt/hips.

Totally worth the investment. I love the length, not to long for hiking. I like the pockets being horizontal, less chance of stuff falling out. I love the waist cinch belt, makes them perfectly comfortably tight enough not to sag with stuff in pockets. I am a 34-35 waist and large size for me is easy on with belt lossened and can make them tight as I want with it tightened. Overall a perfect summer short that I can also take for a swim if needed and will dry fast. Buying a second pair soon as I see a sale.
The comfort level is excellent. I can't even tell I have them on. Thankfully, my wife reminds me before I walk out the door when I do not have them on. My daughter tells me the shorter length is hip, I am not sure if I am hip or a 70s pornstar, but I'm 47 so either one works for me. I will say the lack of a zipper was a surprise, especially since OR went to the trouble to outline where one would go. This must be what my wife feels like when she expects the pockets in her jeans to be actual pockets. Overall, I like the shorts and I am pleased with my purchase. Zippers and a longer length would be wonderful v2 options.
Nice Shorts and good fit. Zippered R thigh pocket fits phone. What would make these shorts great would be zips on front pockets like Cirque light pants and a intergrated belt. Intergrated belts are way nicer under pack belts and give greater flexability over using a regular belts. II have contenplated making a pair of my cirque light pants into long shorts.Would give 5 stars if pockets had cirque light zippered pockets and intergrated belt.
I bought my fav. colour yellow but had to get a size larger than I wear cause it only available in that colour and size. I just adjusted the seams to fit. It's lightweight, quick drying stretchy for any outdoor/indoor activity including tai chi, walking, jogging, hiking, sport activity like volleyball, etc. It has 5 pockets including a zipped one which is rare. Fits true to size including an adjustable elastic belt in the front. OR has the usually life time warranty. I would recommend the ferossi shorts.
A few things are improved over the previous model but it's mostly a step backward. They fit smaller than before and the lack of a gusseted inseam greatly reduces mobility. I tried sizing up but ended up with a loose waist with still a tight fit in the hip/thighs. I'm sad I couldn't make it work. If they do fit you they're now better for casual wear than for hiking or climbing. The thigh pocket has been fixed over the previous version, it's no longer raised and has a nice depth. The fabric is still the same awesome Ferrosi fabric which is super breathable, stretchy, and durable. I just wish they got the fit right.
All the complaints I read about the shorts were from people that were bummed that the shorts were changed. This is my first pair of these and I really like them. The size feels true to fit in the waist, having the option for belt loops or the built-in drawstring is great too because the material does stretch out a bit over time.i bought these in a 31" waist when i measured my own waist at about 30" and sizing feels good. For reference I also bought the equinox shorts in a 30" and HATED the sizing and had to return them.I hope they last a long time cause the material does feel a little thin, so hopefully they hold up. Otherwise the OR guarantee is great!
I'm a multisport guide and really loved the previous version of this short for rock climbing. The new short loses the crotch gusset which makes the fit with a harness worse. The inseam is now 7" instead of 8" which I like most of the time, but it makes the fit worse with a harness. The lack of a fly makes this short work better as a swim trunk, but now it's impossible to pee while wearing a harness. This is a neutral tradeoff. The lack of a fly makes these slightly harder to don and doff than the previous, but as a swim trunk it's nice not having to worry too much about them getting sucked off by waves or diving. The hip pockets are now less accessible. This isn't necessarily a con if you value pocket security, but now I have trouble getting my phone in and ... This isn't necessarily a con if you value pocket security, but now I have trouble getting my phone in and out.The elastic waist is fine and I value the security of the built in belt, but I wonder if both are needed or if the elastic could be reduced to just part of the waist. The previous version had a soft liner on the waist which felt nice, but got hot and sweaty during activity. The new design isn't worse than the old one, but it isn't better, just different. These aren't fully swim trunks as they don't have a mesh liner, but for most of my paddling trips they fit the bill well enough that I'll probably bring them instead of trunks. Now I just need to find new shorts for climbing trips.I like the quest for continuous improvement from OR, but I wish it didn't so often result in cannibalization of previous models. The same thing happened with the Wadi Rum shorts when the fit changed and the waist ended up being loose while simultaneously too tight through the butt for me to wear comfortably.
