This beast does exactly what it's advertised to do, and does it well. Despite some not-so-complimentary reviews on here (perhaps those folks had different experiences with it than me, are using a different setup/config), this marks yet another great product by OWC. One likely pays a bit of a premium for that - to get OWC's version of a given product - but to me it's well worth it, and their support has always been excellent the few times I've needed it (not with this device yet though, knock wood). I've had it a few weeks and thus far, it works flawlessly along with feeling solid and durable. Of course it looks great, too - I love the blue OWC light on top (though obviously not a functional element, aesthetics count too). I bought 5 "Cling-On" adapters with it for ... All my Thunderbolt 3 cables plug into it with a nice, satisfying click, and stay there. It's nice finally having extra Thunderbolt 3 (or 4) ports for my Macbook Pro. A+

I bought this doc to use with a new MacBook Pro 16" M1 for my recording studio setup. The build quality is second to none and the inclusion of a thunderbolt 4 cable is much appreciated. The unit has worked flawlessly for me in both allowing me to keep all the different attachments connected, charging my notebook without having to use the normal power supply and having to connect only a single cable to my notebook. The last feature allows me to remove my notebook quickly for use outside my studio and easily reconnect. I use Universal Apollo recording interfaces and they work well with this unit. The multiple thunderbolt connections are great for connecting a 43" Viewsonic 4K monitor, an external SanDisk drive and the Universal Audio interface. The illuminated OWC ... So far I've encountered two problems. My Camlink4 HDMI-capture card doesn't work with it. More precisely, it works for about 5 seconds, then the image freezes. The Camlink4 works fine when plugged directly into the computer. That dashes my hope to dock my M1x Macbook Pro with a single cable, which is rather the whole point of this thing. The second issue is the microphone volume is both not adjustable and rather low. Other than that, seems to be working fine, so far.My final issue is really a design issue. The hub is hooked up to a laptop, which has a battery in it. I'd really like to stop the charging entirely every so often to keep the battery healthy. The data cable that connects the hub to the machine charges the computer, which is a good thing until you want it ... MoreSo far I've encountered two problems. Unplugging the cable also unplugs you from everything else, of course, so I'd rather not do that. I really wish there was either a physical or virtual switch that I could use to turn off the power flow to the computer.

I've been using OWC's dock with my 2021 16" MacBook Pro for a handful of months now. It generally does a good job but has its quirks from time to time. I own and operate a video production company so I utilize the USB, USB-C, and SD slots a lot. I currently have it configured with one LG 38" ultrawide monitor and it seems to recognize it from wake about 80% of the time. The other 20% requires me to turn the monitor off then back on for the dock to recognize it. Additionally, I've had a couple of experiences where the monitor would work, but would repeatedly disconnect then reconnect until I physically disconnected the cable and reconnected it. Overall, the dock has been good and handles most of my day to day tasks with ease.
I bought two of these for use with a 2021 14" MacBook Pro (M1 chip); one for work and one for home. I wanted a dock primarily to: 1) charge my MacBook Pro and 2) to connect two external displays (using HDMI to USB-C), a USB-A camera, ethernet, and a USB-C to lightening charging cable. I wanted to connect my MacBook with one cable, instead of plugging in multiple things or using dongles. I also wanted to mount a dock to the underside of my deck (command strips rule) so I have only one cable I can see. Is this dock perfect? No, it's a bit wonky, but from reviews, so is literally every Thunderbolt Dock. In the end, this does what I need it to do and I do not regret buying them. The Good:Two Acer 27" monitors (2560x1440) connect to the MacBook Pro at native resolution. ... In the end, this does what I need it to do and I do not regret buying them. The Good:Two Acer 27" monitors (2560x1440) connect to the MacBook Pro at native resolution. USB-A camera (some off brand, $50 made in China 1080p) works for Teams calls. Dock is hidden under my desk, the included Thunderbolt cable. Dock charges the MacBook. So, the dock does all I wanted it to do. Solid build quality, the included cords (power and Thunderbolt) worked just fine. The Bad:About 25% of the time I wake my MacBook from sleep or re-plug it in, the monitors revert to 1920x1080 resolution without showing the ability to go back to native resolution. Twice the USB camera was not detected. After some hair pulling, the solution seems to be to unplug the power cord from the dock and plug it back in, resetting everything. Annoying as hell, but a solution that works. Again, reading reviews of other docks, there was zero chance any Thunderbolt dock will just work. The Ugly:The power brick is huge. But it's also attached to the underside of my desk with command strips, so I never see it.Conclusion:The dock is well built and does what I need it to do. Unplugging power now and then is fine, since the dock works. I do not regret the purchase.
Sadly I find that this hub is not compatible with either Windows 10 and/or with Lacie Bolt3 2tb drive. But also it is not compatible with OWC's own Envoy Express enclosure. I can SEE these drives connected, I have given them connection permission through Thunderbolt Control Centre. I format and fill the drives with files and data. But upon rebooting, the data is ALL GONE and the drives are EMPTY. When I connect the drives directly to the computer (without the hub) and do the same steps, the same problem does not occur. My guess is the Fat is not properly written, but I do not understand why not. I will be returning this device.
The facts that make me consider OWC Thunderbolt Dock unique in an already saturated market are: 1. Truly Thunderbolt from design: What's the point of a "Thunderbolt dock" with only two ports, if it already consumes one of such out of your device? OWC's truly gives you two ADDITIONAL TB4 ports to the one that it takes out, for a total of three! And, once you install their OPTIONAL proprietary software, all of them are high powered, able to distribute the 96W its included power supply can provide. 2. Included high quality TB4 cable: Not only the cable is well performing, both for data and power transmission, but it's also long enough to place the hub more conveniently away from my MacBook than other hubs, some of which don't even include a data cable! 3. No dedicated ... MoreThe facts that make me consider OWC Thunderbolt Dock unique in an already saturated market are: 1. No dedicated video ports: I know this may be a detractor for some but, in my particular use case, not wasting a port (and bandwidth) on a "dedicated" video port I will not use (because my monitor is already TB3 and a hub in itself) and, if you really need an additional video output... You know both TB3 and USB4 can carry video signals, right?
I have now been using the Thunderbolt Dock for more than 2 weeks and I am quite disappointed with it.I use it with my MacBook Pro 16 (2019) and connect it with my LG Ultrafine 5K Monitor. The 2nd LG Ultrafine 4k Monitor is connected directly with the laptop. The Thunderbolt Ports on this dock are of shockingly poor quality. The slightest movement disconnects the monitor and then the port has to be repeatedly engaged to restart the monitor. I have raised this issue with OWC Support Team as well. This is such an expensive Dock and it is extremely disappointing to see the quality of the Thunderbolt Connectors. My previous Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock was a far better quality and never gave such connections related issues. OWC should stand behind its product and ... I had thought the Ventura Beta was a problem with the Dock Eject extension and my SuperDrive. I kept repeating an attempt using one of the two SuperDrives I own and could not get a disc to load. I spent much too much time trying. And today I had a brilliant idea, why not try the other SuperDrive. Now I know that both SuperDrives work when directly plugged into the MacBook Pro M1. Low and behold the second SuperDrive worked. So the moral of this story is that not all SuperDrives are going to work with the dock. Although Apple has not changed the SuperDrive over time, Apple may have change power requirements somewhere along the way. Just my educated guess.I am now a happy Camper!
The fact that the latest Macs don't come with a wired ethernet connection, makes some sort of adapter necessary in any case. Therefore all the extras that the dock offers besides the wired network connection are extras. We are using it to connect with a Mac mini, which is also now connecting to a 32 inch monitor.Occasionally I plug in the laptop that has no ethernet network connection. We use it with our still excellent, but ancient very expensive 2008 color laser printer, which can only now use a print server running El Capitan Mac OS over the network. In some people's minds, the Mac is still a stepchild in the computer world. The manufacturer still makes Windows drivers but not for the Mac computers.
