My ferret named Fanto. Is a story to be told ( and in the process) a fighter, and my emotional support /therapy animal. I tried getting pet insurance when he was 3. I was denied and told he is considered halfway through his life. Fanto and I are both chronically ill. He has adrenal gland disease, cancer over 80% of his body, degenerative joint disease in hind legs( Couldnt walk) got him a wheelchair..but then he went blind. He is anemic, insulinoma(low blood sugar), cancerous masses in abdomen , enlarged spleen with nodules(cancer), cystadenocarcinoma cystic liver(cancer) chronic kidney disease, pancreatic masses ,Pulmonary lung nodules(cancer) and more. Hes on hospice care and his vet continues to say how incredible he is doing even with his long list of serious health issues. Since he's blind he can't find food, and because he's picky ...once he had a taste of carnivore..he will accept nothing else lol. The product is expensive for me due to having to order 3 -340gram bags a month for Fanto and lowest price found is $26.89. He's been on it now for over 2 yrs. Without pet insurance im paying all out of pocket myseld. ( +5 medications , vet apt every 2 wks, etc etc * price - food- $80 meds - $179 vets-$150 * only cost of apt itself (not including tests/xrays/utlra/chemo etc) + $ 100(Baby wipes wee wee pads etc) I would spend every dime I have on Fanto. Due to my serious health issues im bed ridden so we are together 24/7 and he does go with me everywhere . I know carnivore care was designed to help weak/ill animals esp after surgeries and help recovery ...but this is the best stuff you can get if your in a situation like me or have a sick pet who has trouble eating .. I highly recommend . Thank you to all who have helped with making this product come to be. Without it I would be without the the one thing thay means the world to me

I have 13 ferrets and started giving it to my sick ones to wash down their medicine. Little by little, half of the ther ones started trying it and liking it. They all gained weight from it, which is good, because some were very skinny, and it gave them some extra weight in case they get sick. Every single one of them are more healthy, and have a better coat now. Mix it in a blender, and keep it in the refrigerator. It will last much longer refrigerated, and they like it better if it’s not room temperature. Keep unmixed packaging in the refrigerator or freezer to keep fresh.

1st time I tried to give it to my ferret I followed the instructions and he practically ran away from it.2nd time I used tuna juice instead of water (my ferret loves tuna juice) and he wouldn't eat it. So I dipped my finger in the mixture and then in tuna juice and he took 4 licks.3rd time I mixed it with no sugar added peanut butter, he ate 2 small globs from my finger.*The only thing he's been really eating for me is canned cat food mixed with Pedialyte as like a soup. Also he eats a little of the uncle Jim's mix.** Would I recommend this item? Yeah, it's beneficial if you can get your pet to eat it.

I got this for our ferrets toward the end of their lives. Its smell was potent of yucky meat smell and the ferrets refused to eat it. Maybe because they has never had it before but they gagged when they smelled it. No one involved liked it and it went in the garbage unfortunately
I am using this to help my leopard gecko since he hasn't been eating. I mix the powder with warm water as directed (2 parts mixture and 1 part water) and use a small syringe without the needle and drop the mixture near his mouth. It's messy but he'll lick it up. Even my cat is curious about this stuff! It's very fragrant and strong. It has helped me in the past with another gecko who wasn't well. It's been about 4 yrs since he was fed this way. He's still healthy and going on 9 yrs and eating normally. So I'm hopeful that this will help my other gecko. This is expensive since it doesn't keep long after it's been opened. First introduced to this when my then 5 year old ferret was in emergency care for 4 days. I now use it for her twice daily prednisone and supplements. She's now 7 and I really do think this contributed to saving her life in close calls. Otherwise I feed her Wysong epigen 90 kibble. The Carnivore care is raw so freeze portions ahead of time - don't mix with boiling water or overheat. You critter wont like it. And don't just leave out as it is raw. Also keep the powder in the freeze as told by my vet.
We had a mixed experience. My elderly (11 year old) ferret loved this made into a soupie and the nutrition seems fine. The drawback was, that he didn't want to eat anything else; only a bite of kibble now and then. I could not get him back on kibble as his usual food. And, (my fault) he started to get fat. He had previously been lean and self-regulated. Another plus: I mixed it with enough water that he rarely needed separate water. The other big drawback is the price. In early 2024, it was over $70 for two large (12 oz.) packs. But, he wouldn't eat Marshall's Uncle Jim's, pure chicken baby food, or anything else I tried.He's gone now. The Critical Care was his last meal, and he happily slurped it down through a syringe.
I bought this out of desperation because my 14+ year old cat has gradually reduced her cat food consumption to nothing. She licks baby food from my finger and I'm concerned about deficiencies, especially of taurine. However, she refused to eat this, even from my finger, and the 2 TNR'd ferals I feed refused it too. I couldn't try it a 2nd time because I mistakenly left the opened product on the counter rather than in the refrigerator as directed. I gave 2 stars because of the excellent customer support I received from Oxbow when I asked a question.
My ferrets absolutely love this and it has literally saved their lives. I give it to them as a mix and also with their meds (pro tip from chewy reviews) which has made the process SO much better. HIGHLY recommend. My one ferret is a very picky eater and I had to give it to her with a needleless syringe twice and after that she was very into it.
I used to buy this on Amazon but it’s always out of stock! We use this for our hedgehog. He has cancer and he’s syringe fed currently. He is obsessed with this %26 this allows us to keep him fed. We are so thankful we could find this on Walmart online.
