OXO Good Grips - Contoured Mess Free Pepper Grinder

I purchased 5 of these for $20 each. The build quality is superb and they work great for small hard seeds such as caraway and mustard so I'm very pleased. The mechanism does not work well for fluffier seeds such as fennel, larger seeds such as allspice or thin flakes such as chili peppers, so you'll need a different grinder with an oversized ceramic die for those, perhaps the more expensive Kyocera.

Be carful

I would rate this 3 1/2. Grind selection is excellent and feels nice in the hand. It is a bit awkward twisting the bottom and not the top. And that is where the problem is. You load the peppercorns form a screw top on the bottom. Looked like a nice way to fill it., Enter my husband...one time use, and all of the pepper corns are on the floor. He managed to grind the pepper and unscrew the bottom all at6 the same time. He goes to set it down on it's bottom, and ALL the pepper corns fall on the floor. Design flaw of some sort.

I love that this grinder is at the top of the mill and so doesn’t leave ground pepper residue wherever it’s put down. Grinds well, although I could do with faster production. Very happy with this purchase.

LOVE IT!!

This is just exactly what I was looking for. I had 'settled' and bought something else at another place, but we absolutely did not like it. Saw this and thought I'd try it. Haven't used it yet,...but it appears to be easily operated and what we were looking for. Now I'll purchase the salt grinder!

Misleading Description

I bought this for my sister as a Christmas gift. There was not a matching salt grinder and the description for the pepper grinder said the pepper was not included. I thought, perfect! I will get 2 since they are empty anyway. Both came filled with pepper.I would suggest a correct description online and also note if there is a matching salt shaker. I'm not sure if my sister will keep them.

No muss or fuss

I really like using this pepper grinder. The ground pepper always lands where it supposed to go, with none landing outside the dish or bowl. I also like the ease of filling the grinder with whole peppercorns. I highly recommend it .

Really is mess free!

This is a very practical pepper mill, maybe not so beautiful, but very functional. Has five coarseness selections, no guessing about the grind. Rotary collar is easy to turn. Clear window allows for seeing how much is left. And, it stands inverted, keeping any loose grains from leaving a mess.

This grinder is great!

Purchased this and really love it. Wanted a salt grinder, but they are STILL out of stock. Soooo, I just purchased another pepper grinder....and put our salt in it! Works great! Would recommend

This little beast is a

This little beast is a find. It certainly does the best grinding I have found in ages. I'm hoping that the grind heads will last forever. It's in the simplest of tools that one finds the best performance and this is it

good for the price

You know the feel of quality when you use a really high end pepper mill? There is that satisfying sound and feel of those peppercorns getting pulverized to fragrant dust? --- This is not that. The dial for fine to coarse is useless- I tried every setting and all the pepper comes out the same- what I would call medium-coarse. Aside from that it is perfectly functional and I needed a peppermill that didn't cost an arm and a leg. If the gauge setting worked, I would give 5 stars for value...
