What summer grilling night is not complete without a great sauce. I have used many different types of grilling brushes and while they all work, this silicon brush works great. Cloth mops are difficult to clean and the ones like paint brushes can leave behind fibers. This silicon brush checks all the boxes...no fibers to be left behind and it can go in the dishwasher.The only negative I can find is when you are using very thin and watery sauces. The silicon brush does not hold enough of the mix to make it very effective. However, when I am using something that watery, I place it in the spray bottle and use this tool spread it around if needed.Don't worry about using hot sauces, the silicon ends are not effected by the heat. I am really enjoying the OXO Good Grips basting brush both outdoors on the grill and even inside on the stovetop. The extra-long handle makes it not only perfect when grilling but it is a great stovetop when you need to reach the back burner. The bristles are made of layers of silicone so you don't have to worry about tiny hairs getting onto your food as with a lot of bristle brushes. The silicone bristles also can withstand heat up to 600 degrees making it the perfect basting brush for the grill or campfire cooking. What a great basting brush! My husband is the primary user since he’s the griller of the family, and he loves it! He’s been using a smaller one for years, and this one is so much more practical. The length of the hand is perfect- just long enough so his hands don’t get too hot. The bristles pick up the basting liquid easily and hold onto them during transfer so there’s less dripping. As with most OXO products, cleaning it is a breeze. Nothing showy or fancy with this brush, but it sure does get the job done! I know it will keep getting lots of use.

I didn't quite use this brush in the traditional sense. Well, at least not for meat. I like to bake, and sometimes recipes call for brushing the tops of the pastry or bread with butter or egg wash. I never owned a brush to do those things until now. I use the grilling basting brush for butter and egg wash and it works perfectly! The bristles aren't so stiff that they would break a delicate crust. The cleanup is super easy too, and I believe the silicone bristles are much more sanitary (e.g. they won't hold residue like other types of brushes).

I like the different types of bristles which I suppose should help retain more sauce or marinade than if all the bristles were the same. It has a bend at the end which I guess is for a more ergonomic basting experience, I'm not too sure. I'll have to get used to it. It is missing one thing though. Just about every grilling utensil has this. Some will refuse to buy from the thought of it missing. You guessed it yet? The almighty hook. How am I supposed to hang this from the side of my grill? I didn't think there was much innovation that could happen for a basting brush, but this brush proved me wrong! It's a big upgrade from my previous brush. Somehow these silicone bristles really hold onto the sauce, so it doesn't drip all over. I also really like the long length of the handle. It makes it easy to use without burning my hands. Finally, I like the fact that the handle is angled so that when I set down the brush, the bristles don't touch the table. The fact that it's dishwasher safe is a bonus! I would definitely buy this again!

When we're smoking different foods at the same time, it's sometimes difficult to put sauce on one of the foods while keeping it from dripping on the other.
