OXO Good Grips Little Salad & Herb Spinner

I asked for this salad spinner for Christmas and didn't receive it. Can you imagine my disappointment opening presents and noting its absence?So I took it upon myself and ordered it as a New Year gift. It has not failed to delight. I now no longer have to resign to soggy, wet salad leaves - or worse, not washing my salad leaves in the absence of a salad spinner. I can make friends with salad, and I do on a daily basis, and now my salads are elevated and excellent with special thanks to my trusty salad spinner. Coincidentally it never gets put away because it's always put to work: lunch, dinner - what's next? Breakfast salad.Highly recommend. 10/10 would buy again.

Absolutely brilliant!

I was always a bit sceptical about salad spinners, but was so fed up with soggy leaves I decided to risk it. I'm so glad I did. This works like a dream and is a really compact, solid piece of equipment. The basket acts as a colander for washing before spinning and everything is really easy to clean. Even my partner, who's rather techy, is impressed with the high efficiency bearings which keep it spinning quietly and for a long time. Highly recommend.

Awesome salad spinner

When my old spinner died, I thought I'd replace it with the best I could. Which! and other reviews put the OXO spinner head and shoulders above others, so thought I'd splash out (I make a pack salad lunch usually 6 days out of 7, so knew it would get a thorough using). The pump action spin is so powerful and the brake equally so, dries leaves far more efficiently than my old one with a spindle to spin on the top. The bowl is quality thick plastic, almost glass-like and attractive as a salad bowl. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and am so pleased with it, so much so I almost wish my old one had died sooner!

Disappointed

I am a huge oxo fan and love every product they make but this one is the exception. The product itself works well to extract the water from the lettuce etc. but my issue is that the top part used to spin doesn’t lock in like it’s supposed to. The first time I used it - I put it in the fridge and the push mechanism popped up and got stuck in the fridge!! I had a hard time getting it back down because it was spinning when I pushed the spinner down…. So frustrating! I ended up returning the item to get credit. I really was excited about this product but I think it needs a better locking system.

Fancy and big, but useless.

This salad spinner spins with little effort required. Does it spin fast enough to get the water off the contents? Not even close. Does it take much effort to try to get it to spin faster? Oh, yeah. Is there any point in trying? Again, no. The lettuce that emerged after repeated spinning sessions was dripping wet. Also, there is no way to fill the spinner with the central connector in place, so one has to try to edge the contents away from the center in order to get the very large central housing where it needs to go. OXO is often more hype than reality, and this is a prime example of worthlessness masquerading as quality. My old, troublesome, salad spinner removed about a fourth of a cup of water from the lettuce spun by the new OXO spinner. Mind, that was after repeated sessions of spinning and significant effort to make it spin rapidly.

Great upgrade

I purchased this to replace one I had for many years. I was a little disappointed at first since it is slightly smaller than the original. However, after further inspection and actually using it, I find this to be an improvement over the original. For one, it’s much sturdier. The plastic is thicker and heavier. It seems to be constructed better and only time will tell it’s durability but so far I’m really liking it. I use to for a deeper clean after I’ve properly soaked greens such as collards and kale. It spins super fast and gets the greens dry. I’m really happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

It's an old faithful

I have had and used my OXO Salad Spinner for years, and when my son-in-law asked me about it I decided to get one for them too. We eat a lot of salads in our family and I like to wash even the "triple washed" lettuces.I like the size of this spinner. It holds enough to be able to make a good sized family salad in one take. That's a time saver.I like the mechanism for activating the spinning. With the top - down pushing action, combined with the non-skid feet, when you spin the lettuce you're holding the product in place. I had another brand in the past that was very much a 2-handed job - one hand to turn a spinning handle and the other arm to hold the spinner in place. It doesn't sound like a big issue, but this is just a better design. Another inspired idea to solve a problem I didn't even know I had! It saves a few seconds of waiting, but I could be doing something with that extra time.It's also convenient to be able to take the spinning bowl out and use it as a colander for other veggies once the lettuce has been spun dry. Why dirty another colander when this one does the job perfectly well?Finally, I like that I can disassemble the lid for thorough cleaning. I don't like the idea of dampness harboring bacteria in my food prep tools, and with the OXO design, this is never a concern.

LOVE!!! This Already

this is my 4th salad spinner. I haven’t used it, yet I KNOW I love this: it’s normal size; it has a light rubber on the bottom; it claims to be dishwasher safe, which means it won’t start to look dull after a while, the pop up top stores flat and the top comes APART VERY EASILY!!!!! So excited! the fact that the top comes apart is a sigh of relief bc I always tried to wash / soak the top to make sure it was clean. And yes, sometimes you need to thro a salad spinner into the dishwasher bc - LIFE! and you don’t want to get your hands wet but you don’t want dishes in the sink. I’m so happy! and it came so FAST!!!!

New and Improved!

This is the second OXO salad spinner that I have purchased. This one was to replace a much loved version that finally seized up. The new version has been improved though and feels even easier to spin! The clear bowl is more robust with thinker sides, the seiving bowl feels very strong and the spinning mechanism in the lid works very well. I would love to know if it all comes apart to clean? As everything is see through ( I like this feature too) I would like to know that I can give it a really deep clean from.

One Great Product

This salad spinner is amazing. I haven't been this excited about a food preparation product ever. I originally was going to buy another spinner; however, after comparing the heavier spinner with this lightweight yet sturdy one and seeing a $20 lower price tag, the decision was easy. And after using this spinner I knew I had made the right decision.This spinner dries the lettuce as well as that expensive prepackaged lettuce. And it only takes a few pushes of the button. The cleanup is a breeze. We're eating healthier and cheaper now than ever before. Thanks for selling this great XOX product.
