OXO Good Grips Pop 2.0 Container Big Square Tall 5.7L

I got 6 of these for my pantry and the results have been mixed.The Bad:- The suction on the seal is meh. If you give it a strong pull some of the lids will come off, so be cautious in how you handle the filled containers as some can be extra finicky.- The lack of consistent seal gives me pause to store stuff that has the potential to go stale (chips, pet kibble, popcorn, etc.).- I suspect with time the airtight-ish seal could lose suction completely and become a regular seal, but that remains to be tested/seen.- The containers are not flimsy, but they can be fragile. 1 out of the 6 containers I ordered arrived cracked (the box it came in was fine) so again, I would handle these with due care.The Good:- The volume capacity is seriously awesome!- You can ... MoreI got 6 of these for my pantry and the results have been mixed.The Bad:- The suction on the seal is meh. Great 5-lb-flour pantry storage

EK offered a set of these recently, three 4.4 qt units with cleverly-lid-stored scoops, as a package deal. For years and years I've stored home-milled flours in some old carbonate cookie product jugs...and those jugs were losing their (relative) airtightness and clean-ability. So despite the...rather stiff...price tag, I went ahead and ordered the OXO POP pantry cannisters. And am glad I did. They fit beautifully in the pantry, they seal snugly, and they really do hold a full 5 lbs of flour. Since we mill whole grains, keeping them secure from air ensures maximum freshness and nutrition...though we do rotate flour probably more often than most people, plus mill only a week or two ahead. I was doubtful that the "pop button" top would really seal the lid firmly enough for securing it as I horse them in and out of the pantry (not an issue with the former jugs' screw tops)...but they do. Nifty design, and I hope they last as long as our previous (free) solution did...though in the meantime I can already tell they're doing a better job at keeping our whole grain flours fresh.

Just what I needed

Was looking for a lightweight container to replace my large and very heavy ceramic crock holding my sugar. Unfortunately all the canisters marketed for sugar aren't large enough for a 10lb bag so I was seemingly stuck since that's the size bag I normally buy. Finally found this container and happily it holds an entire 10lb bag without overflowing and even full is still much lighter and easier to move around than the crock. Very happy with this purchase. One note, if you order online and have it shipped like I did, it might get scuffed during shipping. This was a bit irritating to me, but ultimately I didn't mind enough to try to exchange. But if you prefer a nice clean look, you might opt to pick it up in store.

Lids come off and can see it failing to seal

See photo. Can see the gaps in where the grey seal should be coming into contact with the clear plastic. The lids slide off when "locked" with minimal force, and how poorly they seal ranges on each unit- some give more resistant than others. There's no way these are actually airtight or consistent in manufacturing. Received units all scratched up in my order, as well. Get something else, these really are no good.

New design is inferior to the old design

As some may or may not know, OXO recently changed the design of these containers, and they are no longer as good as they once were. The new design slims everything down, including a complete redesign of the lids. Slimming the containers is great, but these lids are no longer air tight and food goes stale quickly. You’re better off using a ziplock bag. OXO needs to swap the kids back to the older design that wouldn’t slide out when you hold the lid. These wouldn’t be effective even if they were $3 each.

Nice big jar, great for cereals or muesli

This is a high quality product, the plastic is very strong and it feels durable but lightweight.It has a push-button lid that you press before lifting the lid off, then press again when closing to seal it airtight.I use it for my own homemade combination of muesli, and at 4.2 litres it can store a lot. Perfect for anything you need to keep in pretty large quantities, like flour or cereals. It looks great too, perfect for putting in the corner of a worksurface or cupboard.

OXO Flour Power

So I had a problem that you might relate to. I would purchase a bag of flour, place it in my cabinet...kerplunk... and flour dust would get all over everything. Then the OXO Good Grips POP Container - Big Square Medium (4.4 Qt) came into my life...problem solved. Not only does this air tight, dish washer safe wonder hold a whole 5 lbs bag of flour, but it looks beautiful doing it! The airtight seal is easily engaged by clicking the push button down. My favorite part is the scoop accessory that attaches to the underside of the lid. A durable scoop, combined with a perfect sized opening makes it so easy to scoop out measured amounts for recipes. Loving OXO POP containers! I will be buying more sizes to produce more cabinet space, keep my other go to baking ingredients fresh and to have a beautiful looking organized pantry! One suggestion I have for OXO. There have been several flour recalls recently. When you throw away the flour bag, you lose the information of the "best used by date" and UPC/lot codes. It would be great to add something like a dry erase/chalk option or removable adhesives so you can write that information somewhere on the container. P.S You can use this container for a lot of other things besides flour, but I use it for flour!

Oxo Good Grips POP Container Square Large Tall

I do think that OXO makes excellent products. I always felt that these sealed well and for short term storage they do. I do not know if this was a one timeone container issue, but I put a sealed container in the refrigerator for about 4 days. When I went to use it, it was obvious that there had been some small air leak. I would just be aware and check any food that may be sensitive to air leaks. This possibility is the only reason that I would not recommend this particular product.

Oxo Good Grips POP Container Square Large Tall

I just got these to store my flours and grains and I love them. The largest one is perfect for a standard 5lb bag of flour. I have one for each of our Whole Wheat, Unbleached AP, Bread, Rice, Glutinous Rice, and Almond Flours. Also great for Dried goods like pasta and shitake mushrooms. The smallest ones arent super useful but I do use one for serving raw sugar. Easy to use and keeps the pantry beautifully organized. I hope they last forever

Unusual Defect

I have many OXO POP containers in different shapes and sizes and I love them all, but this particular one (round 1.5 qt white canister) was defective. The lid did not seal when the button was pushed down. I did not notice this until 4 months after I bought it when it accidentally tipped over and the contents poured out all over my kitchen floor. I contacted OXO and provided them with detailed information about the markings on my specific item and they sent me a replacement! I received the replacement today and the lid on this one appears to work. I can pick up the canister by the lid only and it holds firm even when the canister is full. The lids look exactly the same, but there is something wrong with the button mechanism on the defective lid.
