Baking mat makes cleanup easy!

I bake a lot. I love to bake desserts, and I also roast a lot of vegetables. A couple of years ago I was gifted a silicone baking mat, but I didn't like it because it emitted a strong odor while baking in the oven and it also seemed very flimsy. After that experience, I decided to go back to what I was doing before, which was lining my baking pans with foil or parchment. That worked well, but it also caused me to go through a lot of foil, so I was really excited when the Stellar Product Testing Panel gave me the opportunity to try out the OXO Good Grips® Silicone Baking Mat. Just from touching the baking mat I can tell it is durable. As far as usage goes, I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies at 325 and it did extremely well. Nothing stuck to it. There were no strange smells and cleanup was easy. Next, I used it to roast some broccoli at 425. Prior to cooking the broccoli was tossed in olive oil so I wondered if it would cause a residue, but it didn't. My broccoli was roasted to perfection and clean up was easy. All I had to do was toss it in the dishwasher. I love the fact that it is reusable and that it kept my baking pans clean. I will definitely be using this again, and I will be purchasing more. I have already recommended it to friends and family.

I have owned a few different types of silicone baking mats (3 other brands), but I have to say that I like this one the best! I honestly wish that I had found this mat a long time ago. I made my Grandmas’ biscuit recipe on this mat, because I’ve had issues with them cooking unevenly, and even sticking on a different mat I own. The OXO Good Grips® Silicone Baking Mat didn’t even drop an eyelash when it batted its eye! The biscuits slid right off, and were perfectly even on the bottom. Thanks to this OXO Good Grips® Silicone Baking Mat, next family event I can show them off, and make my Grandma proud! Not only did this mat help the cooking process go super smooth, the clean up process was almost non existent! All it took was wiping it down on both sides with a hot, soapy cloth, and didn’t require any scrubbing (unlike a different mat I own). I did, however, notice that there must have been a bubble, or defect when they made this mat. I noticed the area when I was washing it. There’s a spot on the underside of the mat sthat the fibers encased in the silicone are exposed. Since I don’t use the mats to save my pans, but rather to keep food from sticking, this mat will still serve its purpose. I just worry about how long it will hold up, compared to my others. Hence, the 4 stars. If I had bought this mat, in a store I would be headed right back to the store to exchange it for a new one, and in my books that’s an inconvenience.Pros: this mat has superior non-stick capabilities, doesn’t feel or get greasy like other silicone mats I have, cleans up ridiculously easily, cooks things evenly, stores nicely, and doesn’t leave a strange imprint in the bottom of the food being cooked.Cons: has a defect into the fibers (making me unsure of its durability), came packaged in a ridiculously large box for one little item.

The only cleaning to the pan I needed to do were the corners; I used a soft sponge and it cleaned up quickly. The corners are the toughest part to clean so that may be the only downside to this mat as any mess will now collect in the corners and the edges, but it did not require a long soak or elbow grease as it might have without the baking mat. Along that same line, I did have a pan that was a little bigger than the mat and it made a bit more of a mess around the edges of the baking mat. The OXO Good Grips Silicone Baking Mat seems to work best if it fits exactly inside the pan. The mat itself is very easy to clean up. After the tortillas, I just wiped it clean with a sponge. For the other items, I put the baking mat on the top rack of my dishwasher and it cleaned up perfectly. After I was done using the baking mat, I was a bit unsure of how to store it. It is too flimsy to stand up in a cabinet and too large to lay flat in a drawer. After some trial and error, I found that rolling it and putting a cut portion of a paper towel roll around it, it stays in place and I can store it, easily in a cabinet. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for this opportunity.

Easy baking on the Oxo Good Grips Silicone Mat!

I tested out the OXO Good Grips® Silicone Baking Mat while making Gluten Free Sausage Balls for New Years Eve, then again making Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies. Both times the mat proved to be very beneficial in keeping my baking pan clean. If anything, the actual pan will need a quick wash, but that's all! When we made the sausage balls we used the mat on one pan, and not on the other. They definitely slid off of the OXO mat easier than they did the bare stoneware pan. The same held true when making cookies- the cookies came off with absolutely no issue. I did not grease the mat all either time. The mat also cleans up super easy! Easy to use and clean!

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this product. I tried this mat out by baking some tried and true gf oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. The mat fits in a 17 inch baking sheet perfectly. Cookies were baked at 350 F for 15 minutes until golden brown. Temp and time to bake is the same (which I was concerned about) whether using a cookie sheet or the silicone mat. After 5 minutes of cooling out of the oven, the cookies came off the mat easily. I just picked them up, no need for a spatula to loosen them off the mat. To clean the mat, I rinsed it off in the sink with some soap and warm water and, while it does say it is dishwasher safe, I am honestly not sure how I would place this mat in my washer (it is not rigid and just flops over in the ... MoreThanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this product. I tried standing it up on the bottom track but I decided hand washing makes more sense and is just as easy, plus I can wash and dry immediately to use again. I love that I do not have to wash the cookie sheet (it is cumbersome maneuvering it in the sink), but you still have to clean the mat, so it does not really cut down on clean-up (which is what OXO is advertising), just what you are cleaning (either sheet or mat) unless you count maybe having to clean a spatula used to remove the cookies from a cookie sheet. Since the mat is much easier to clean, I will definitely continue to use it for cookies. There is really no reason not to. Great product!

Fantastic (and compact) addition to our busy house

It stayed in place (rather than moving around like parchment paper sometimes does). I was able to remove the cookies (which couldn't have been easier) onto a cooling rack and toss it the mat into the dishwasher. My only complaint is that its a bit hard to put a flexible mat into the dishwasher (vs a stiff one), but this is the case with all mats vs trays. On a different occasion, I used the mat as a surface for rolling out sugar cookies. Usually I use some kind of cutting board or do this directly on our kitchen table. The mat worked perfectly for this purpose. The dough did not stick (especially with the addition of some flour), and again allowed for super easy cleaning.

Greatest Baking Tool Since the Oven!
8 January 2019

I usually find myself scraping, scrubbing, degreasing, and wrecking my cookie sheets but that will never happen again now that I have this OXO silicone baking mat. I normally bake main courses like fish or pork loins with soy sauce and brown sugar, or snacks like chicken fingers, calamari, etc. I've used aluminum foil, but food would stick so I didn't like it. I've used parchment, but sauces soak through or spill out. I was so excited when I put the OXO mat on my baking sheet because I first noticed it fit perfectly inside so I knew very little to nothing was getting around the edge to make a mess. The first thing I baked were two Korean style Kalbi marinated pork loins. The first thing I baked were two Korean style Kalbi marinated pork loins. These are soaked in soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil so you can imagine what I've done to my pans. Oddly, I wasn't worried much once I saw the fit in the pan and trusted the product. After I pulled finished meal out of the oven, there was what would normally be permanently baked on sauce all over. I was a bit worried I ruined it!After enjoying our dinner it was time to check out how good this was on the clean up. The silicone peeled right out of the cookie sheet and there wasn't a drop of sauce anywhere. So far so good! I ran some water over the silicone and wiggled it around and 90% of the burnt crust came right off. By now I was excitedly asking my wife to come check it out also. To be honest, I did a pretty good job trying to wreck this thing so I had to scrub a bit but it came clean and barely stained. I'll admit, its probably not often used with liquid marinades so it performed well. We also have baked calamari and other dry, breaded things and the crumbs fall right off with a rinse of water. Clean up is remarkable easy.We hosted over the holidays several different times and many people were able to try out our baking miracle. I know at least a couple people were amazed and are getting there own. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel I saved a baking pan from being ruined and showed off to all my friends.

OXO Silicone Mats, my new fave
7 January 2019

This mat was awesome! I have a couple of other brands of silicone mats and I have to say - this one seemed like it worked the best.I used it for a few different things before writing this review. First, I baked gingersnaps on it just after Christmas. The cookies did not stick at all, and clean up was a breeze! Cleaning it was super easy. The only thing I don't like about silicone mats is drying them, because I don't have a good way to do it. But that's just the nature of the mats themselves. I'll definitely still keep using. The mat was the perfect size for my cookie sheet, too.I also used it for rolling out the cinnamon roll dough. Wow, did that make a big difference. I simply sprayed the silicone mat with nonstick cooking spray, as the recipe recommended, and rolled it out into a rectangular shape. When I was ready to put the cinnamon sugar on and roll it up, I was able to do it with ease. I loved that it didn't make my countertops all messy, too. Cleanup from that was so simple. Finally, my kids LOVE to play with my homemade playdough and I always use a silicone mat for them to make cleanup from that a breeze. It worked great, no issues there at all. My kids actually fought over who got the 'new' silicone mat. I did receive this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel, but opinions are all my own. I will be ordering more of these to replace the current silicone mats I have.

Out of this World Baking Mat!

I would like to thank the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending me the OXO Good Grips Silicone Baking Mat to test out and review. I absolutely fell in love with this product! I was a little leery at first because I have used other silicone mats that were very thin and didn't hold up well. I was blown away with the OXO! Right out of the package I noticed it was really thick and durable. It would absolutely stand up in the dishwasher, although I haven't tried it yet. The first thing I did was make cookies for Santa with my three kids on Christmas Eve. I am not a very good baker at all and usually have to scrape my cookies off the pan! No sticking at ALL! They slid right off and onto the cooling rack. They slid right off and onto the cooling rack. They did need a few minutes longer than the batch without the mat, so keep an eye and adjust time as needed. Next I made roasted broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. I was able to cut way back on the oil because there was no sticking or burning to the pan! Bacon is absolutely fabulous done on this mat! Super crispy and delicious, in fact I have some baking right now! I have used this mat just about every day since I received it and have loved every minute of it! I did have a couple cons. The first is that the mat fits my pan lengthwise but not widthwise, it hangs over a little. Not a big deal but a little annoying and it makes me want to buy a new pan! It is super easy to clean but still feels a little oily even after using hot water and dish soap. I will need to put it in the dishwasher and see if that helps. Also, when making bacon the grease gets under the mat and makes a mess to clean up. Still, I would prefer the greasy mess over stuck and burned bacon! Overall a wonderful 5 star product that I will be purchasing more of since I usually have two pans of food cooking at the same time!

Pretty good

Good size - bit larger than tray so no mess on tray at all. Used under grill - might be a bit hot for that. Has got stains from food - not sure how to remove. Grilled salmon stuck to it - took a bit of elbow grease to get it off. Otherwise, it works well. Use it for most things I used the silicone paper for. But won’t put under grill - save it for the oven. May not have been made for that - it is called a baking mat!
