Get your self a roll of 50mm gaffer tape while your there. its only like $6. A new bag is $20 The bag is the same material as the cloth shopping bags. Not suited to the high winds of the unit. Small stones/twigs will break it. Gurmit, S.A's milk container hack was to hard to implement. l used a roll of gaffer tape to reinforce the interior of the bag. 2 layers, one horizontal and one vertical. also along the interior zipper cover on both sides. I let mine sit few hours before l used it, you can see in the photos the edges are starting to come off. Make sure you apply firmly and let it set over night to make sure it sticks. Make sure you apply it before using it or it wont stick due to dust. If you want you can apply to exterior too. I only applied to the large area around the chute and not on the smaller pointy area to let the air blow out. NB: 1. draw the bag above the notch where the draw string gets tightened, or it will come off as it did for me. (see last photo) 2. also remember it has 6 speeds :-) 3. do a loose knot with the power leads so it doesn't come off when your walking around

This product fails to stand up to the purpose it was built for as far as the bag life and quality is concerned. Replacement bags are expensive and not priced suitably in comparison to the cost of a new unit. Unit cost $50 and bag replacement $28. Come on Bunnings you are better than this. Reduce the price of replacement bag down to between $10 to $15 dollars and keep your customers satisfied. Does anyone from Bunnings read these reviews and does anyone care. There are so many common complaints about this issue so why doesn't Bunnings act to rectify. Really sad as the rest of the product works well but its main purpose is to be used with the bag. I haven’t had mine very long maybe 6-12 minths and I was thinking it was one of the best pieces of garden equipment I have ever had UNTIL the zipper on the bag broke. The zipper on the bag needs to be upgraded to a heavy duty metal tooth zipper that can handle lots of tugs and dust getting into the teeth. You are going to be emptying the bag A LOT if like me you use this tool to suck up leaves that accumulate in the garden. It mulches them well, but is not so good with thick bark or twigs although if you are patient it will do those. Avoid stringy plant stems or leaves this machine hasn’t got the power to handle them, better to pick them up by hand before you burn out the motor. I picked up this unit at the reduced price of $30 but it’s not going to be economical if ... MoreI haven’t had mine very long maybe 6-12 minths and I was thinking it was one of the best pieces of garden equipment I have ever had UNTIL the zipper on the bag broke. Bought this sucker today and before you use it like another reviewer mentioned grab a $6 Gaff Taper while you there and tape up the entire inside of the bag, turn it inside out to do the job that I have attached in the photos. Overall works well the blower is perfect and powerful and the sucking works well. If your going to do a huge job blowing first and using a shovel will work best, the mulching is really best used for small jobs. On a positive you save loads of time from using a broom which is the exact reason why I bought this. Hope the photos and reviews help your next purchase it’s great for the money
After reading the reviews and Jack's gaffer tape hack, I decided I would have a crack at reinforcing the bag myself. Instead of blocking up most of the bag with gaffer tape, I thought a better solution would be taping some old shade cloth to the inside might work better. After the first use, I can honestly say, there are no signs of damage to the bag so far. The suction was really good, even on the lowest setting, and the bag expanded really well as soon as the vac was started. I do recommend that you do make sure the cut shade cloth is at least an inch smaller than the inside of the bag, to allow for the duct tape to have plenty of surface area to adhere to on the bag. There was a small area near the zip that only had about a centimetre of tape between the shade ... MoreAfter reading the reviews and Jack's gaffer tape hack, I decided I would have a crack at reinforcing the bag myself. I do recommend that you do make sure the cut shade cloth is at least an inch smaller than the inside of the bag, to allow for the duct tape to have plenty of surface area to adhere to on the bag. There was a small area near the zip that only had about a centimetre of tape between the shade cloth and bag seam that started to lift after the first use (as per 4th pic). To make it easier to tape the shade cloth to the inside, I also found it handy to turn the bag inside out first, as per the first 2 pics.
The only hard part about putting this together is the handle. You need strength to whack it in.Unfortunately, I had no strength and found this hard to do. The same goes for the bag clip. A previous border had left it here, but the bag was spilt. It was cheaper to buy a new one. I'm not ehandy on the garden, but have Courtyard to keep clean. This is perfect with the variable speeds, the lowest is still strong enough to blow the leaves into one corner. However., It WILL NOT pick up any sticks at all, even small ones. THIS is my only problem with it, as I have 2 tree's full of Possums that drop small twigs after they eat the buds. This will not pick them up and is my only hassles with it
I hate leaf blowers. Really hate them !! But then I realized there are leaf blower/mulchers ! Now that's something useful. So I looked at several types, both battery/cordless (more expensive) and corded versions, with the main requirement being leaf vacuuming and mulching. I have a few worm bins, and thought that the leaf mulch would be really good. At $59, the Ozito unit would be a cheap test at the very least. I purchased and put it through its paces. Two weeks later, I am very impressed - vacuum power is sufficient to hoover up all the leaves, even when wet, and the mulching capability is really good. I'm not expecting it to munch branches or acorns, but it does a good job with small twigs, fern fronds, grass runners. I read in some reviews of collection bag ... MoreI hate leaf blowers. I'm not expecting it to munch branches or acorns, but it does a good job with small twigs, fern fronds, grass runners. I read in some reviews of collection bag issues: hence suggestions to reinforce the bag with duct tape, but have not found this necessary so far. In any event, it would be simple to replace or make another bag. I specifically like the fact that - the unit is powerful but not oversized - it's extremely well priced - the suction strength at high is sufficient for leaves, even if wet, and at lower power will allow leaves but not stones to be collected. - and it has a 3 yr warrantee !!! - perfect for the small garden (I would consider cordless and maybe other brands for larger gardens where you don't want to drag electrical/extension cords around with you) For the record, I am a Ryobi fan (with several handyman cordless devices). However, my garden is modest and this unit, together with a (Ozito) mulcher and lawnmower, cover all the garden maintenance needs.
The blow/vac/mulch power aspects of the product are excellent but the collection bag in vac mode was very disappointing, in my opinion. After only a few uses a few cm of the bag came away from the collar and leaked - emitting dust and mulched debris. I see from other comments that this issue is not uncommon. I just price-checked the bag and a new one is 65% of the price I paid for the whole unit! So, I will follow the advice of Jack below and try taping it or gluing it.
For the money, this is a great product. The bag does wear on the impact side ..... the red lever side. To remedy this I used silastic. Shake the bag well to remove most of the dust. Turn the bag inside out and squeeze a good portion of silastic on the impact side starting at the neck. Using a paint scraper spread the silastic to a width of about 150mm and work it down the bag toward the zipper. Apply a LOT of force with the scraper to work the silastic as had as reasonable into the fabric. 3 years on the silastic is as good as day 1. Repeat on the outside optional !! No need to have any significant thickness of silastic
I bought this a couple of months ago and it has worked really well. I have 7 ornamental pear trees in my backyard and the Vac picked up the leaves on the lowest setting without a problem. The mulcher broke down the leaves pretty quick. A flick of the switch and it blew grass clippings off the alfresco just as easily as my petrol blower did. I reinforced the bag as per the comments of other users. In my case I cut up an old $1 cloth shopping bag and used Sikaflex Pro + to glue the cloth to the blower bag. I then went around the edges with cloth tape using more sikaflex. I’ve inspected the bag after about 5 uses and everything looks to be in good condition.
